My PC ran perfectly all of the time, playing titles such as Skyrim, Dark Souls 2 etc etc. As soon as I would try and play Dragon Age Inquisition, I'd get random bluescreen crashes. I ended up replacing my power supply and the problem was fixed. I assume DA:I required certain processes from my GPU and a slightly failing PSU wasn't able to provide the juice required for these specific tasks. As I said, all other games I had installed worked fine with no crashing. it was only DA:I that would cause these BSOD's for me. Just sharing my experience in case it might help you But Dont you find it odd that i got these blue screens WITH the update? I removed the Update and now its playing fine. Certainly do find it odd, but I'm still betting there's a graphical change within the latest patch that causes you to encounter BSOD's due to fluctuating power supply. That's why you don't encounter them when you roll back. It was exactly the same for me and DA:I. I could play it fine, then they released a patch. Performance went down in game (meaning the GPU is probably working harder), and the BSOD's began. I'd say it's still worth checking. blues3531
how do you make the alt tab trick, I alt tab and back to the game, but its framerate still are lowered you can try to disable vsync get back to the gameplay and than enable vsync, it works for me but still sucks I noticed that this works too. Everytime I start a new game I have really sh*tty framerate like 30fps max. Then I do that with vsync and from then on I'm back between 60 and 90. There are actually alot of bugs with this game. Anyone notice the weird square thing on the ground that follows your character as you move? It cuts into shadows and makes a solid line go across everything you walk by. I've seen it in videos too so I know its not just me.

I highly doubt that my PSU is "fluctuating"

southparkmayor
The update makes me blue screen. removed the update, no more blue screen. Oddly enough, When I went to my bios and selected restore to default (like you just got the MOBO new with the CPU at STOCK.) it does not blue screen. Albeit with less performance. Roofmonkey
The Evga 600B is a fairly small PSU for that setup. Even Evgas page list it as a "budget" unit. 600w output split over those rails would be borderline as far as supplying every component what it needs under load. I'm sticking with PSU problems. Now that I know you're relying on 600w for your whole system I'd even go so far as saying your problem is an underspecced PSU, possibly not faulty. This patch is getting ridiculous. Most of the time when I switch to another character I get a game freeze and crash. Try to use weapons whilst driving and talking? That'll be a crash. Try adjusting graphics settings? Yep. Crash town. I thought Rockstar took 2 years to make sure this was "perfect for PC". Now they're just making things even worse. Any news on when the next pile of broken code will be pumped out through their launcher that can't figure out how to download a single file once only? If you see that square box then change to another Post FX setting and apply, then toggle back to what you had before and it will be fixed.
Roofmonkey
Right. Because I've experienced R*'s terrible ports of their GTA games to PC before, I took a complete backup of the game folder after the day one patch (prior to patching with this current one). I have re-copied those files back into the install folder (deleting all fully updated files), and guess what? No crashing when shooting from the car, I can switch between characters fine, AND, performance is back to being awesome. I'm working with the retail DVD version though. This wouldn't be possible on the Steam version as Steam auto updates when you re-install and there's no way to roll back patches. I've simply blocked the GTA launcher in my firewall and play in offline mode (I'm not interested in multiplayer anyway), so it doesn't try to re-download and install the current, sh*tty patch. Confirming this current patch has royally f*cked the game (for me, anyway). as reverting to the prior patched version of the game means I'm not having those issues any more. kakashi07
check this out: same settings ? because there is a big difference in the GPU utilization 57 before and 98 after Yeah! Same settings, I turned on my computer, double clicked on gta v icon, than luncher downloaded and installed a mandatory patch and run the game, story mode was loading and than.... Los Santos in 28fps here I come, WTF? - I said. GPU utlization is higher because R* probably messed something in graphics and performance to get rid of shuttering and drops. Dude I really dont wanna play it anymore till they fix this, game was pretty smooth om very high details, now I have to choose betwen playing high detailed and shuttering game or smooth and ps3 looking game, it sucks at all. My rig is: xeon 4x3,8GHz 6gb ram ddr2 1066 radeon hd 7950 3gb vram as we know some run this game on dual core cpu and 1gb graphics card so i dont consider my rig as crap You can check out my settings: http://i60.tinypic.com/rarzgo.jpg http://i61.tinypic.com/2416uj6.jpg http://i58.tinypic.com/1zprsxw.jpg http://i57.tinypic.com/10zqsyv.jpg http://i59.tinypic.com/11gi0xg.jpg http://i58.tinypic.com/117epz8.jpg http://i58.tinypic.com/1fznr8.jpg What program do you use to see all that info in the left corner? Jax765
I'm wondering if the last patch did something with Post FX. Before the patch, the game ran perfectly fine with it set to very high and DOF turned on. Now, I get frequent dips unless I drop it to high. AnimalBear
I pass the first heist mission, but still crash inside of the car by pressing LB on the XBOX Controlled. Anyways, i just beat the cops so badly easlily. I never saw the cops being so defeated by 3 bikes and one 1 pick-up truck. Real life in America, they never give up. Please don´t use this on real life. Edited April 21, 2015 by AnimalBear
Nick930930
Turn off Vertical sync when you launch the game. Then turn it back on. This fixes low framerates. My game always starts locked at 30fps now. But if you do the above hotfix, it brings it back up to 60fps. The Self Radio bug is still there though. so avoid using that station to get stable FPS all the time.

I sure hope that they fix everything wrong with this game and don't leave it with some bugs like they did with IV.
Dyngsur
One thing i notice if its help people is that if you have like ur Vram at green color and i think its like 1 GB under the max Vram u have or something like that, i get more fps than if i turn settings so that my Vram goes to yellow. My 980 GTX and my i7-920 CPU 4GHZ performe very well! thou i think they need to fix some FPS demanding settings, ex MSAA even at *2 u lose like 20 FPS. i mean if u lost like 5 it would been ok but now i dont feel its worth it. Extended Distance scaling seem to take away to much fps compared what i gives u back visibly in the game. Just some thoughts and finally they need to fix their shadows cause i know they are bugged for people and if its something wrong in the code there i guess it will improve the game alot if they fix it! Cause its litterly shadows everywhere!
