IMPORTANT info for First Person players

Hello, I'm hoping you are all enjoying GTAV on PC.

There is something that I feel I must bring to your attention however, mostly for those who choose to play the game in First Person.

When you Pause the game and go to Settings > Camera, there is a very specific, very important setting called "First Person Auto Level Camera" Turn it OFF, now.

Now for some f*cked up, unearthly, face-palm inducing reason, Rockstar decided to leave this setting switched ON by default. This is an enormous mistake, because this setting single-handedly RUINS the way that this game plays and controls in First Person. Basically what it does is every time you walk forward, no matter how high or low you had the camera pointed, it will cause the camera to auto-center back to eye level, thus negating any aim adjustments you had previously made with your mouse.

Every. Single. Time. Walk forward, camera goes back to eye level.. So you're basically fighting the camera with your mouse/thumbstick whenever you choose to walk and move the camera at the same time. It's especially annoying if you are using free aim.

Now a lot of you may have been thinking to yourself, "God, why does the first person feel so sh*tty and clunky?", but you could never quite figure out why this was...well that's the reason.

I URGE you to turn this setting OFF if you want any hope of enjoying this game in First Person. You will see the difference, and you will realize how dumb of an oversight it was on Rockstar's part to leave this setting on.

What about Aim Down Sights? Why isn't it there in PC version? Trailers had ADS. :/

It is. You need scroll the mouse up while aiming.

I also highly recommend you turn "First Person Head Bobbing" OFF

Smh...This setting is also switched ON by default and it causes the camera to bob up, down, left and right while you sprint in First Person. Apparently its supposed to feel "realistic", but it only makes First Person mode feel more jarring and clunky.

Goddamn, really folks? Bump.

I'm trying to make First-Person playable for you.

Pause > Settings > Camera > First Person Auto Level Camera > OFF

It changes everything, you'll see. Thank me later.

FPS mode definitely feels off to me, I will look into this today. Thx

This game has so many settings that I spend more time tweaking stuff than playing, it's crazy.

Wonderful. please report back here with feedback once you change this monumentally overlooked, game changing setting.

Good to hear.

The more people I can help out, the more awareness that is put on this issue, and the more likelihood that Rockstar will patch the game to change this setting to OFF by default.

They are seriously hurting their own game and the way it fundamentally controls with this one dumb setting.

Wow, thank you! The first-person view is much better with it turned off! Thanks!

Thank you for sharing this.

It was my pleasure. I'm glad I could help.

You're welcome, and yes, very much so. My mind is boggled as why Rockstar even included this bullsh*t setting in the game. All it does is make First Person feel terrible for the millions of people who never bother to mess with settings.

Importance bump.

This needs to be pinned, honestly. People who play FP need to see this.

It's a bigger deal than you'd think.

FYI, there are some actual game-play limits on first person.

First that comes to mind is the tank. You cannot aim nearly as high/low in first person as you can in 3rd person.

Also, shooting behind you from a car (especially the no-rear-window cars) is impossible in first person, but possible in 3rd person.

I kinda gave up on first person while on foot, but I will try your settings out.

I certainly agree with auto level being turned off but I do like the head bobbing. Thanks for the thread.

Oh I bet. And I'm sure that the fact it feels like sh*t (initially) to play was the biggest contributing factor in that.

Also, important information about first person and the Rockstar Editor (I'll use this thread instead of creating one).
If you plan to record footage and change camera and all, do NOT USE FIRST PERSON.
It'll disable any possibility to change the camera afterwards, even in the sequence where you use 3rd person again.

Honestly, there might be a setting in the game that does exactly that. I haven't researched yet.

Don't be afraid to mess around more with control settings, guys.

I recall being able to do that. Try going into ADS, then run around for a second so you're not aiming the weapon, and then aim again. It should go straight to ADS mode.
