PC shadows render square around player

Hi,

 

I have 2 gtx 970 g1, win 7 4790K

I tryed without SLI too.

 

I always get this square around me, that follow me. diferent setting make different result but always there.

The only way the game is playable is chosing sharp shadows and putting the Extended shadow distance bar to the minimum.

 

Anyone has an idea, I try the NVIDIA experience optimise setting too but the shadows are all soo soft you dont see any detail at all and there is still a square of shadows folowing me I cant see it and il kill the imersion.

 

Not sure but I think there was something similar in farcry4 when flying ther was a square folowing me too dont know if it was the game though.

 

In GTA if I get into a car the sqare grow 4 time bigger but the effect is sill there.

 

 

 

 

 

The photo bellow is with NVIDIA experience setting, you dont see the sqare but when im running is realy visible

That might be just your shadow settings, try messing around with them, and reducing other things if it's killing your performance.

I have the same issue. Id like to know how to disable this. I really dont mind the undetailed shadows, but this is so distracting.

i noticed this only seemed to happen using nvidia pcss. try using just soft shadows .

I just done a clean windows 7 install, and a direct steam and gta install, with latest Nvidia driver.

No diference in the problem. so it must be a problem with hardware or the game itselft.

maybe we cant find something in common.

If you enter <<shadow rendering gta>> in google you can find some info on that,

 

Its... Normal... its the way the game render the shadows, you can play with the setting to make it less aparent.

I hope Rockstar patch it to make it less visible. We are in 2015 with insane graphic but a box of shadows following us...

maybe make it bigger. I have a powerfull machine capable of doing it. or a least a smoother transition..

 

Maybe we can mod it to make it bigger.

 

It seem to appen on amd and nvidia card (seem more on gtx 9xx but maybe that because more people have them)

I have the same problem too, mostly noticable when respawn in hospital near compound building. I also using NVidia PCSS, haven't tried using other shadow setting.

Its normal, it was like that since lastgen, even GTA IV had this.

 

Its called optimization, thats one of many reasons game works so smoothly.

 

This 'detail bubble' also affect parallax mapping/tesselation and other effects. But I admit, they could have done this better by making smoother edges/better transition

From what I read somewhere, size of that thing is bigger or smaller on specific weather conditions, so it seems its controlled by timecycle file.

its seem to be better with this, sharp shadows ,and putting the Extended shadow distance bar to the minimum
