What i do is download audacity, import an mp3, apply an effect call amplify, going beyond limits if necessary. Too much will cause crackling effect. Than export. I'd assume this is because the game has to load the music from the HDD while the game is being played - however wouldn't it be better if the music was loaded into memory when the game starts up?
