sjo102784
Installed GTA V last week, started playing on Tuesday. Played about 12 hours between Tuesday and yesterday perfectly fine. Today I load the game and as the game tries to initialize story mode, I get a crash every single time that kicks me out of the game and back to the Windows desktop: err gfx d3d int I Google'd the crash error and tried several troubleshooting steps: -Removing two DLL files related to this error and reloading replacement DLL's -Turning off other applications running in the background -Underclocking my GPU -Restarting the computer -Running the program as administrator -Disabling Tesselation, V-Sync, and running in windowed and borderless windowed mode -Reinstalling the ENTIRE GAME I just tried playing after a fresh install of the entire game and it STILL crashes with the same error. My specs are as follows: i7 4770k - Not overclocked 16GB RAM 480GB PNY SSD AS Rock Z87 mobo Dual 7950 in Crossfire (Crossfire disabled for GTA V - the game does not work well with a Crossfire setup) No other games crash. The game played PERFECTLY until this morning, and NOTHING changed in terms of software or hardware on my computer - no OS or application updates at all. The environment was static between when I played yesterday and today, and for some reason the game decided to sh*t all over itself today. Anyone else experience this issue and/or find a solution? The game is 100% unplayable in this state. I've tried everything I can imagine to solve this, aside from an update of my GPU drivers. Chipset drivers and BIOS are up-to-date. Will return with the results of a GPU driver update.
AnimalBear
Is not only you having those problems. RockstarGames just release a terrible port for PC, not in the graphics, but the several crashes they will done. Or this is the snowball tactic like konami does to the consumers when they release the last update of the game working 100% as done well to the PS3 and PS4 Consoles. How they can play perfect on PS3 and PS4 a soccer game, and on PC is just bug all day? I smell a lot of #hit after 2015 arrives to steam users. Games are still beta, and we pay a lot of money. To many waiting for a several fix, less 3 months. And etc... Better release those games for free instead. DRM, and DLC's are the cancer to the world. Spuds725
I know you are frustrated but please avoid swearing-- especially in thread titles- edited. sjo102784
Update. AMD released a specific driver update FOR GTA V. Installed, rebooted, and voila - still crashes. Now instead of receiving the error listed previously in this thread, my screen just goes white and I receive error messages stating GTA V has stopped working as well as the AMD display driver has stopped working. This is ridiculous.

Solution sjo102784 Posted April 17, 2015 Author Solution Share Posted April 17, 2015 Today's update - workaround resolution: To recap: Chipset, BIOS, and GPU drivers were all up-to-date. Disabled all background processes, ran as administrator, replaced 3d related .dll files, underclocked my GPU, tried disabling v-sync/tesselation/running in windowed mode, even tried a full reinstall of the game - none of which fixed the issue. After almost giving up, I tried loading GTA online. Made a character, online loaded fine. When I left online mode it put me back into story mode, and story mode played perfectly fine...no crash. As of today, same crash occurs when loading story mode straight up from the main menu, but online mode/leaving online mode still works fine to get to story mode. No solid fix from Rockstar as of yet, and after today's ~300MB update the problem persisted. Just thought I'd share my solution in the event that someone else was encountering the same problem.
