Bonaldo
...improve performance? Which are these in your opinion? IMO high resolution shadows are the most obvious ones Edited April 16, 2015 by Bonaldo
SilverRST
Tessellation can be turned off, I think. I didn't see any difference on Franklin for example when I have to play as him. People say it's for trees and rocks. If that's true, am I really this retarded to stare at rocks all day to see how they are tessellated? And shadows can be turned on High. They look already nice on High. Edited April 16, 2015 by SilverRST
ienvy
Shadows dont just change in quality as you turn that option up and down, it also decides WHAT casts shadow. On the highest setting everything will have dynamic shadows, on lower settings, pedestrians and other cars will stop casting shadows and so on. nightmare-slain
The most intensive settings are MSAA/Shadows/Grass and anything under "Advanced Graphics". Turn them down as low as you're willing to go and you should be able to crank everything else up a bit. Reflection MSAA off completely. No need for it. Particles Quality could possibly be turned down to "Normal" without a major visual difference. Ambient Occlusion could possibly be turned down/off completely without any visual difference. Tessellation off if you don't mind trees/rocks being flat looking. If it bothers you set it to "Normal" and don't bother with "High" or "Very High". Soft Shadows should be set to whatever uses the least VRAM. This will be AMD/Nvidia/Sharp < Soft < Softer < Softest. I got about a 10-20fps fps boost going from Softest to Softer. Can't understand why is this happening, pretty sure that game is more demanding in the city with a lot of traffic and peds. Hope R* will fix this soon

Dowls
I actually found that my gpu and cpu were under used. Upping the settings increased my fps and even made the game look better. emcax24
Bonaldo
I have grass set to ultra, and when I go on foot deep to the mountain areas where there's sh*tload of grass, the framerate takes a huge dive It dives below 30fps And that's on GTX 970 It looks awesome, but grass is demanding as f*ck Edited April 16, 2015 by Bonaldo
emcax24
GTA engine is gonna be more CPU limited than anything. it's not really that graphically intense except at night raining or foggy. most of the time the limiting factor is gonna be your CPU. like that guy up there suggested. try maxing out your graphics to take some of the work off your CPU.
