A request for all the modding researchers

Everyone doing research related to how the engine works and how the game is encrypted, there is one thing I sincerely hope you do. And that is publish every bit of information you can. Or at least anything that could potentially be useful. At least don't intentionally keep any secrets from the general public. Once this game has a developed modding community with mod tools, I would hate it if all the modding tools/mod loaders that are any good have some type of artificial limitations placed on their use out of fears of it affecting Online or whatever. Open source would be best, but if that's not acceptable to any tool developers for whatever reason (I'm looking at you, NTS) at least don't give people more reasons to want the source code.

I get if you make a mod loader and want to prevent it from working in GTA Online. That's fine, it's enough to keep most of the script kiddies out. But don't let that keep you from sharing any information or source code, just cause you're afraid people will compile a version that works in Online or make their own mod loader that does. People are going to hack in Online. Whether you think that's a good thing or a bad thing, the truth is people are going to. And they've been doing so on consoles, which are harder to mod, so you know they're going to be doing so on PC. And they're going to do so whether they do it with your tools or not. They might even use your tools to do so even if you don't publish source code--you think your closed-source tools can't be modified but GTA V (which seems to have been designed to resist modification) can?

Please. Don't let Online, or anything else, stop you from sharing any type of information.

Thank you.

Most people don't mind sharing information and documenting things. The problem is some people in this community refuse to make their work open source and don't document a single thing publicly simply because they don't want competition.

Which is ridiculous when you aren't trying to sell anything.

Another request, please don't mess with their precious online mode. Let's just mod the single player mode so that they don't go after trying lock the game down again

Assets are shared between Online and Offline though, it isn't a simple case of "Don't mod online" because anything can cross over, you install a vehicle mod, that vehicle will be used when it's called in both modes, etc.

While this is the case, I would think there'd be a way to keep that from being a problem. The biggest worry I have about having any mods carrying to Online is that I don't want to get banned. Aside from that, I don't want the game to have issues running while Online. Not saying I wouldn't do mods for Online, but I don't want any trouble.

Similar to in SA (not sure about IV) you could likely be able to add cars instead of replace existing ones. While adding these new cars you just do not update the Online portion of the game to include them (such as not int he spawning on streets, missions, etc). Leaving the Online portions alone will keep those separate.

Issues will likely arise when attempting to change things like police personality, but I'm guessing this will be sorted by forcing the SP and Online to look at separate files/parts of a file for what to do by adding in the distinction.

If it is possible, I`d like a mod for high res textures (high or v. high, ideally both to choose from) ONLY for player skins and clothes / weapons, so lower spec PC`s can benefit from decent textures and still keep the VRAM usage low, by only needing to render high textures only in a fraction of what I suspect is the whole game.

Ideally only player skin and clothing textures, nothing else, IF that is possible, that is.

Pretty please.

I'll be releasing many sources as I go. I transitioned from PS3 modding to PC now and I'm finishing up on a script hook, I won't be making any graphics/visual mods but I'll leave the tools there for anybody interested

And someone. Please. Make a mod that converts the dumb feets and miles for the rest of the world using kilometers and meters. It's so stupid they didn't include option for that.
