Consulidated PC connection dropping help thread.

I want to start this thread to get everyone that is having disconnection issues to brainstorm ways to fix it.

 

Disconnect issues entail:

 

Unable to connect to online

Being disconnected from a lobby

Unable to join jobs

Everybody leaves your game and GTAO will stop all internet from functioning until it closes the session completely.

 

Things I have tried to fix it:

 

DMZ on
Upnp on/off
ports forwarded
router/windows firewall off
static IP set
tried VPN through various countries
reformatted pc
redownloaded GTAV

 

Netlimiter records GTAO using 20-30kbs a seconds so bandwidth is not an issue.

 

Concurrent connections is not an issue either becasue you can connect a peer to peer program (such as utorrent) to 100+ peers and internet functions normally.

 

Excessive packet loss is not an issue either.

 

I would like to add that the connection fix thread on this forum does not fix the problem for pc users either.

 

I have seen reports of this happening around the world from varying ISP's and varying modem/router set ups as well as both wired and wireless connections experiencing this. I have contacted rockstar via ticket and only recieve the automated response about "do our connection guide".

 

Lets get this solved so the thousands of people having this issue can play online for hours at a time until we pass out like we should be able to.

Yeah, I've been having the Empty Lobby issue, and I'm completely unable to connect to other players. I can get into my own freeroams though... not that it matters.

I can connect to games with 30/30 players but always get disconnected afetr a few minutes.

 

Also when I manage to get into jobs and not get disconnected instantly as soon as the job finishes and everyone picks the next job to do I just sit at an infinite view of the sky and I can hear the job timer count down and start with me still stuck on looking at the sky then it just boots me to freeroam.

 

Obviously issue 2 is way way less important to me than the fact that I cannot play the game online for more than a few minutes (average 2-5)

Changing router did not fix my problem, I disconnected from lobby (and internet disconnected until I left session again)

So I have:

Reformatted
Reinstalled
Redownloaded
Forwarded Ports
DMZ'd
Upnp
Tried a VPN
Changed Internet Hardware

The issue lies within the game, it is nothing we can do on our end.

Still nothing from rockstar for any launch issues let alone the disconnect issue effecting thousands.

 

Seems about every 1 and 10 people I talk to have this problem.

 

I honestly don't expect it to ever get fixed.

This is my problem exactly. Hope a fix comes out. I posted a support question (https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/communities/public/questions/203643347--PC-Grand-Theft-Auto-Online-and-College) hoping that someone gets back to me.

 

Edit: Do you guys happen to be on a college campus by any chance? I want to know if it is a problem with campus wifi due to the restrictive nature of them.

Is the thread most of us (on steam at least) have congregated in.

 

Personally I have done everything I can client side to fix this issue, including replacing my router/modem and reformatting my PC. I can 100% guarantee there is no user error causing this issue.

I wish I could get that much. I can't connect to *any* players whatsoever.

 

Sure is reassuring to get an auto-reply to the support ticket pointing me to Console help though. Real helpful.

Did a bit of testing on the Steam thread. Going to get a massive amount of people (or at least try to) with the same problem in a single private match. I want to test two things:

 

1. Are we able to connect to each other?

2. Is the amount of players connecting a factor?
