Damn, i had loads of Windows Updates today, now my GTA V has stuttering around grass and coastal areas. CTD sometimes on physics, like car crashes

Anyone else had this ?

Just to clarify, by 'system restore' I don't mean reinstalling your OS, just google it, should be fairly easy.

If you're on Win 7 I also suggest to stop updating, Microsoft is planning to brick it so everyone moves to Win 10. Which is not happening this lifetime.

If you don't believe me check the page for KB3033929, instead of removing this stupid update they blatantly say that if you have dual boot linux and windows 7 configuration your pc will reboot forever.

As a PC technician I can say I have seen many times instances where a batch of updates made Windows 7 run like sh*t. A system restore should fix this and the same updates usually re-install without any issues.

Installed the updates before I went to bed.

OP, what're your specs?

In the future, do a Google search of every update before you decide whether to install it or not. Not all updates are relevant for all users and some might be known to cause issues.

Bumping to see if anyone else experienced problems post-update. I haven't accepted the latest updates after reading this earlier today, so I wanted to see if this set of updates are actually causing game problems.

f*ck. I just installed these last night before going to bed. *sigh*

Not every computer will react exactly the same. Dont worry until the problem presents itself.

I noticed this issue too, however I resolved it by changing the "Soft Shadows" to "Sharp". Not sure if this will work for everyone but after I changed this it went back up to 60fps again. Hopefully this gets resolved in an update soon so I can go back to "Soft Shadows" at 60fps again.

Edit: My performance was not stuttering, but was reduced from 60fps to 30fps after Windows updated.

My game broke since the update. It hangs in the middle of the intro video.

You can uninstall the windows updates fairly easily

Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program

choose the option to "View installed updates"

sort by installed date and you can then choose to Uninstall it/them.

Fixed my issue. Try reinstalling your video drivers.

Yup. I got 6 or 7 Windows usages last night, and now my video drivers crash when the gameplay loads.

Going through them now to uninstall....

Edit: well, uninstalling those didn't work. Though still think that they are the cause; it was the only change i made to my system, and i had been playing without issue since release day. Awesome.

Well, i got my problem sorted.

I Reset Graphics to Default, and started raising them to previous settings, one at a time, restarting and loading the game every time.

Turns out, any Grass Quality setting higher than "Normal" caused my crash.

Why a windows update remnant would effect setting... Who knows? I'll leave it as is, and try to bump it up again either after the next batch of updates, or the next AMD graphics drivers update.

Oh, PC gaming... I love you, but you are a fickle creature.

Microsoft? Lol, they are trying to f*ck up your system on any way possible to make you upgrade to Winsh*t 10.

Installed all 33 updates or so last night, no problem whatsoever. In fact, it seems I have more stable FPS post windows updates, but that could simply be a placebo.

Got an update today too, pretty sure it works exactly the same as before.

Same here. AMD R9 270 with 15.4 driver. Grass quality above normal causes my game to crash when loading. Haven't found a fix yet.
