sungam
I had this issue constantly on my machone AFTER the recent update. (although honestly I did have a few crashes before that, but maybe once a day, not every hour or so) I managed to fix it by setting the screen mode to full screen, it was originaly on borderless window. Have not had a single crash since using full screen setting. Edited April 18, 2015 by sungam
Zlatin
Still no fix. I've tried everything. Halp! I even swapped my GTX760 out for an r9 280, and it still crashed. This clearly is not a hardware issue, the 280 has more than enough vram to run at my settings. I'm currently redownloading everything, but if that doesnt work, I'm just going to wait out a patch. I'll let you know if reinstalling fixes the problem.

marmoo
All very confusing this Many of us are playing on pretty much the same specs and some of us can't get the game to work, some get bad stuttering and some get the game to run fine (I am the latter of the bunch - the only problem i have is occasional stuttering when using Self FM) R* must be thinking WTF....... erik9631
1) Throw/place a throwable item on foot (when it is the selected weapon).2) Enter a vehicle.3) Try aiming a weapon in the vehicle. Result: Crash. I managed to reproduce the crashes that everyone is experiencing during various missions including the blitz play and the jewel heist which both require you to place or throw something. To temporarily workaround the issue select the item you would like to throw and pull out your weapon. Then throw by pressing "G".Selecting the throwable itself and using it will result in a crash. Quick throw is the only workaround right now. cant remember
I've so far had two crashes too. Game once froze right when I right-clicked to aim while driving. And another time when switching character. Usually I can play for several hours before a crash happens, and it works again when I retry so I don't get too bothered by it, but still, for the amount of delays for "polishing" this game is quite crash-happy, and to my recollection the first GTA to have random crash issues during gameplay. KamoKorn
Well, it appears that for me it was 'malware residue' which was left after I had internet connection problems. Simply put: I had virus which apparently has not been completely removed. Followed advices from https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/communities/public/questions/203689507-possible-fix-to-gta-5-pc-crashes-players-and-devs-please-read-?page=2and downloaded AdwCleaner. Had to run scan, nothing showed up but decided to press the 'remove' button anyway and it rebooted my PC, showing me logs afterwards. There has been few registry issues and some residues from previous infections. Guess GTA V is one hell of a fragile game. Since then, no crashes at all. Zlatin
Found my issue: Astrill (A VPN client) must have had a conflicting/corrupt .dll. I went into Event Viewer to see what caused the crash, and found that it was ASProxy.dll. Uninstalling, then reinstalling the application seemed to fix my crashes. I'd recommend a quick trip into Event Viewer to see what caused your crashes, I'd be happy to help walk anyone through these steps.
