RomanBOY123
the same Hi everyone. I've bought a physical copy of GTA V and I have been inslalling the game from yesterday morning. Now, after installing all patches, I came to another problem. My system is:Processor Core I7 3630QM RAM 16GBand Videocard - Intel HD 4000 with AMD HD 7970M 2GB. The problem, that when I launch GTA V, RGSC is loading and show me a massage "Unexpected Error". I found out that this issue appears due to Dual Graphics. When I turn off one of cards and starting the game, RGSC says smth like "Directx9 initialization is not possible" (it shows on Russian). Maybe someone found a way how to make the game run with Dual (AMD and Intel)? Thanks!

gtafan625
Hi Guys, The simplest solution that worked for me... 1.Add gta5.exe to your switchable graphics applications. 2.Put gta5.exe it in Power saving mode. 3.Go to My documents/Rockstar Games/GTA V folder and delete 'settings.xml' file 4.Run GTA 5 using launcher (How you run it normally) 5.When the game is about to start you will get a warning message like "Your computer does not meet minimum recommended CPU specification" 6.DO NOT CLICK ON OK. Leave the message open 7.Go to your switchable graphics menu set gta5.exe to 'High performance' 8.Now click on OK for the warning message and you are good to go....GTA 5 runs perfectly!!! Repeat steps 2 to 8 everytime you play the game....works like a charm Frozenflake and vaibhav_D
razer0197
I have switchable graphics too, but I use the option "Select the graphics processor manually or based on power source" instead. Then I can switch to AMD manually before I start the game. I don't know if this is the solution but I have never experienced this problem that so many people have. This is not the solution, because yours doesn't have this problem. We can also make the GTAV.exe automatically or manually run on the AMD(High performance), but it won't launch succesfully, unless you follow Gtafan625's instructions. Btw thanks Gtafan625, this solved it for me too. I have a AMD 7670m/Intel HD 4000, i7 3612-QM on my HP G6. I've read before that I'm supposed to switch to AMD when that warning shows up, but couldn't make it appear again after the first time. Stupid me should've realized it might show up again if I delete one of the User files. It would take some time to know it's settings.xml though. Teketeezee
What's your laptop? I have a Lenovo Y40. I did a fresh install of Windows about a month ago but never reinstalled the Energy Manager app that came pre-installed with the laptop. After realizing this, I reinstalled it and set the settings to High Performance mode, I also added all 3 of the GTA V executables inside the GTA V directory under Switchable Graphics, I set all 3 to High Performance as well. And presto, everything works without the need to redo any steps to relaunch or I never experienced any crashes. I also never need to delete the settings file or disable the Intel GPU like on some fixes users suggested. You're laptop may have a separate energy management application. Just set to High Performance if there's an option to do so. Quick Note: Always have the laptop plugged in as I noticed a huge drop in frames when it was unplugged. My in-game settings are: 1600 x 900Textures - HighPopulation - MaxShaders - HighGrass - HighMSAA - OnV-Sync - On Some parts spike to 60 but on heavy areas it's around the 30s. My specs are: i7-4510U 2.00Ghz R9 M275X 2GB 8GB 1600 1TB 5400rpm Windows 8.1 Hope this helps. One made by ShampooShowers and another by Aviad. Maybe one of these solutions can help to fix the problem you are having. If "Option # 1" does not work, undo and try "Option # 2". Option #1: Disable you graphics card under the Devices tab, wait loading the game until it got past the Social Club login part, then re-enabling the graphics card. This was done on a laptop with switchable graphics so it is not possible to guarantee that it will work for everyone, however. Original author: ShampooShowers (from reddit.com) Option #2: 1º Open "settings.xml" file, change the value of "DX_VERSION" to 1 and save it. It force the game start in DirectX 10.1. 2º IMPORTANT: Launch the game from Steam and wait the intro to be like in the middle. Press Windows + Alt + Enter. The game should run in other window. 3º Wait untill he go to the menu and then apply "High performance" from Catalyst Control. 4º Check at the graphic and you should see the game is running with your graphic card by the video memory at top. After you did Windows + Alt + Enter one time. No need to do it again (else it doesnt work again). gtafan625
@gladsy You could try this. Create a new windows user and login. Add gta5.exe to your switchable graphics menu and put it in power saving mode. Run GTA 5 normally and it will show the warning message. Now switch your application to high performance and click ok. It should run.The objective here is to get the warning message somehow so that you can change your setting. Create a new windows user each time you play. Or u can delete the last one and create. But remember you need to copy your save files and keep them in a partition where u can access them and replace them each time you play.
