It says a lot that my one and only console was an Atari 2600.

 

I went keyboard and joystick all the way after that, Commodore 64, Amiga and finally jumped to PC in the mid nineties, when an AMD K6-200 and 3dfx Voodoo 1 finally made it to my desk in 96, yes it was Win 95.

 

Ah, good times....

 

 

Did you find the Competition pro 5000 joystick on your travels ? I still find myself buying them if I see one cheap on ebay lol. Not that I've ever broken one.. But they are so good I can't resist.

I got the same with every revision I own, they all still work, and I have free donations of other ones for spares.

 

Even my Amiga has the old 20Mb hard drive you plugged in the side! Used to play Frontier with it, as the loading was so rapid.

i play pc and console games, some games i do like better on pc, altho from a multiplayer standpoint, pc always has more cheats, mods, hacks, no matter how much they try to stop it, it will still be there, and with the track record of glitches and slow fixes gtav has had on consoles i have no doubt that the pc version will be an absolute mess....

That's a mess lol. Exactly the kind of online "gameplay" I never want to experience. Looks more fitting for single player than online. I haven't used any crazy "cheats" in GTA like that since San Andreas, back when I was 14 years old, and even then it wasn't very fun for me.

I never understood the concept or joy of PC Gaming.

 

Its only been out for 1 day and that guy already owns everything due to modded money he gave himself.

 

Oh look, everyone in this freeroam lobby is modding. No wonder about the "its so peaceful on PC" thread. Everyone's on godmode, so everyone is equal. Deathmatches and/or freemode kill attempts are redundant.

 

Not to mention that default PC gaming is a mouse and keyboard. If you're going to buy a gamepad or controller for it, then why dont you just buy a NG console? It's exactly the same thing except for the fact that all players on PC, ages 1-100 are or can be modders.

I pride being good at the games I play. So I don't wanna get cheated by some 15 y.o. Running god mode and no reload mods. I'll stick to the xb1 I guess.

That 20mb Amiga drive still runs? that's quite an effort for a hard drive of that age. I have quite a collection of stuff myself. I still have some 3000 3.5" and 5.25" Amiga disks. I was hardcore into the Amiga demo scene and was at the post office sending floppies almost as often as I was awake. I was still getting parcels of floppies from all around the world years after I stopped trading.

 

 

I still have quite a few running Amiga's C64's,128's. A working Atari 800xl, Two TRS-80s an old Sega.. something with rubber keyboard.. A mint almost unused VIC 20, a boxed never used C64 and 1541 family pack (lots of C64 drives actually). I imagine I have at least 5 working C64's and almost that many again for spares.Two Acorn Archimedes A3000's, heaps of stuff all in storage boxes for my son who will never want them lol.

The few modders I ran into on consoles were not pleasant people. I think the PC players are in for a long hard trod that going to end up like gta 4.

PC gamers have a strange obsession with people who play on consoles. I think it's due to the fact that in popular culture console gaming has overtaken PC gaming as the norm medium for gaming in the home. Go ask on a general forum a console gaming question and you'll soon be inundated with 'PC Master Race' and 'Peasant' shouts. Ask a PC question and you'll get nothing from console users. It's definitely a one-way obsession.

I used to game on PCs when I was younger but I switched to to consoles about 6 years ago. I like buying a game and knowing that I'm not going to spend the next 4 hours dealing with a missing dll issue. I don't have time for that any more. I want to get back from work, sit on my sofa, press a switch and be gaming on a 50" TV almost immediately.

I also like to know that my current setup is going to be the setup that developers will be focussing on for the whole generation. I'm not going to be left behind, not getting the full intended experience unless I spend another $1000 upgrading.

Gaming is all about enjoyment. It's not about 60 fps, draw distances, anti-aliasing or anything else. Use whatever system you enjoy most and leave it at that.

Ditto. I didn't own a console between N64 and xbox 360 because i played only pc games. i got tired of having to upgrade all the time. I had the original 4mb 3dfx addon card for $200 that gave you special graphics enhancements in certain games.

Next on my list to get is an A3000 or A3020, an Amiga 1200 and possibly a BBC Micro... got a whole room stacked full of old systems - Colecovision, Intellivision, Atari VCS, the usual Sega and Nintendo fare from 8-bit to 128-bit, Pong consoles, Magnavox Odyssey 2...

It was made to become like that and everybody who was waiting for the pc version should have known that. Its been like that ever since GTA 3 for pc. The games are easy to mod and pretty much released to be modded. R* can't do anything against PC modding because everybody can acces the game's files.

 

Thats what makes the PC version stand out, and make it a lot more fun then any other versions. And with a good rig the graphics are superior to that of consoles. And god mode if you want to screw around without being griefed.

 

If you want to have fun on PC online, download a trainer and act as if nothing ever happend. Its really only a problem for griefers who want to spawnkill by hiding after a wall 'without' using god mode.
