bowbra100
Anyone know when mods will start rolling out? Those files seem to be encrypted in steam anyway. Will this delay the mods or was the encryption there to prevent modding?
itrpatrick
Give it a few weeks to a month. At first a few mods will pop up, then people will copy those few.
RedIndianRobin
Apparently the files are highly encrypted. No mods can break into it. Rockstar did a fine damn job of blocking mods on GTA Online.

So if some modder breaks into those files, GTA O will be blocked. Antaxi
Big64
rockstar did a great job at killing this game with their sh*tty download speed and terrible matchmaking and now blocking mods lol
K0ol-G-R4P
The way it looks right now the only mods we will be seeing for the next few months are script based. When I say months I am being very optimistic here. Right now the biggest issue is the EXE is very well obfuscated and a key needs to be retrieved from that EXE to even start working on a tool. To give you an idea how long a fully functional tool for importing models (vehicles/characters) can possibly take, it took 3 years to import models into MP3. So if some modder breaks into those files, GTA O will be blocked. So we will probably end up having a copy of the original files and using a custom launcher to switch them before going to single or multiplayer, also exe patches will probably be necessary, which will be a huge problem considering that the game will probably update a lot. f*ck RedIndianRobin and bowbra100
Osho
I am worried about the same. I'm having a feeling that this time, ONLINE can make it much more difficult to mod the game E: My wishlist: - Improved driving physics and handling - Improved vehicle storage. - Better A.I - More side missions like Gang wars and other that will add more random immersion. f*ck. As you can read, the wishlist sounds incredibly hard to even realise if the modding is gonna be hard to even start. Seriously, if its becoz of Online then bloody sh*t mode should be thrown into the trash in future games Edited April 15, 2015 by Osho
Deceitful-Fox
We'll crack it, don't you worry. NOTHING is un-hackable given enough time and enough eyes on the project, and plenty of people are already working on busting this baby open.
ZeroZero
I can understand R* treasuring their imho unwanted GTA Online (i put 45 minutes into it...big whoop) but there are so many more people who give f__ all about online and are looking more forward to modding the hell out of this game. Haven`t heard anything from R* about the huge GTA modding community and about what they are trying to do to make GTA mod friendly, yet have a "safe" Online bit.. Glumok
maybe we'd seen mods for ANY assassins creed game or watch dogs. but no. none. The difference between AC games or WD and GTA is the community behind it. All the GTA games has always have been a modder favorite. Lets face it: WD was just good, not great at all.
