ScrapDraft
As the title says, this game absolutely melts my CPU on even the most minimum settings. I bought this gaming laptop a little over a year ago and it has run every other game just fine with a few exceptions.Asus G750JXOS: Windows 8.1 64-bitProcessor: Intel® Core i7-4700HQ CPU @ 2.40GHz (8CPUs), ~2.4GHzMemory: 16384 MB RAM DirectX Version: DirectX 11 Graphics Card InfoNVIDIA GeForce GTX 770M Approx. Total Memory: 11129 MB Current Display Mode: 1920 x 1080 (32 bit) (60Hz) Idle, my computer temp sits around 55 - 60 C. Most games, my temp lingers around 75 C at the highest. GTA V, with everything turned down to the bare minimum, brings my temp all the way up to around 85 C. I've never seen my temp go this high, as usually my computer shuts itself off when it gets too hot.I've got my laptop sitting on a working cooling pad, with an extra fan blowing directly at it, so air flow isn't really an issue. I cleaned out the fans, so there's no dust or anything blocking it. Can't think of anything else to do, and I really don't want to have to buy a new computer to play a game I just paid $60 for. Anyone got any ideas? Should probably mention all of my drivers are up to date as well.

pumpactionhero92
Hey i had the exact same problem with my Gaming Notebook! i had temps to 88 C without Cooler and i thought damn i cant play it this will ruine my Notebook. Usually i have temps to 60-70C. I have a GTX570m and i7 2670qm. But i found the solution! Go to your power settings/options and then you go to change advanced power settings. Search for processor power management. Then look for maximum performance state processor. Set it to 70!!! Then go and play it my temps where from 85C to 60C now and i have now lag of FPS! Before i managed it I saw you had the same problem so i thought i have to write this. Edited April 16, 2015 by pumpactionhero92

I played for a bit longer than normal just to see if maybe it was some weird spike, but my temps got up to 89 C. On top of that, buttons seemed to be pressing themselves. The game paused by itself twice, and when I would press the up/down arrow keys in the menu, they would press twice despite me only pressing once. pumpactionhero92
Are you sure? Well i had temps from 60 to 65 C after hours of playing. It works for me i even set it to to "65" once and temps are not over 62 C after hours. And i played with economy mode too and it works also. Do you have windows 8? I have windows 7 i dont know why its not working for you. My Notebook is much weaker than yours by the way. But set it a bit higher and try it again with 80/90/95. pumpactionhero92
What did you set in minimum performance state processor? Set this to 5.
ScrapDraft
I really don't think setting my processor to run at 5% will help. Might fix the overheating, but will render the game almost unplayable.. I'll give it a shot, though.
pumpactionhero92
No. I mean you should check your minimum performance state processor and set it to 5. And your maximum performance state to 80. These are two different settings.
ScrapDraft
That.. actually worked! For whatever reason, it's default setting was 100%. Changed it to 5 and bam! Running at a cool 56 C Thank you, man! Much appreciated!
Kampret
What I still don't get it is that how your CPU fails to throttle but instead letting itself overheat and shut down itself.
pumpactionhero92
I thought this will be the case. Im glad it works now but today i looked the first time to my gpu temps and these are high too! I realised after 5 minutes they go to 88C and by cutscenes until 96C! Thats pretty high. What GPU Temps do you have?
