TheMostKnowledgable
Let's all start dropping in the little things that we notice in gaining performance or anything else in the settings. Later, we can have a topic by someone who compiles the best and most useful ones. I have noticed that Sharp Shadows gives a really good performance on just high shadows for now without much shadow acne and it lets me turn textures to max, and use the extended distance scaling more (NOT shadow extended, greyed out) and High Res Shadows On. They don't look bad, and it saved me some FPS. I have only tried softer, softest, and nvidia setting, and I've been playing on sharp cause it doesn't hurt my FPS since I tried it. It just seems to be running the best while looking really nice til I tweak it out and then return to shadows settings again later. A good place to start and return to later is always shadows, and these aren't fugly like the lower settins. Drop in some settings tips you find. edit: BONUS, I disabled high resolution shadows, and with this setting, I don't even notice a difference. Deuce Deuce
My first suggestion would be to keep tweaking the game and not be too quick in judging the game as "badly optimized". Honestly, when I first played it I was actually a bit disappointed with how it was running. 24 hours later after looking around on different forums and on Reddit, I've managed to achieve a stable 60fps+ with the settings on mostly high, MSAAx2, TXAA on. And I'm still tweaking the settings. A few pointers: The game seems to run better in full screen as opposed to borderless windowed mode Set the grass quality to medium for better all-round performance Set your mouse input to "Windows" as this results in less input lag For those that want to crank up the settings and aren't too bothered about hitting a consistent 60fps, work out your average framerate and set a cap through third-party software. This will give the illusion of a more fluid game, even though it will technically be running below your max FPS readings. My specs: i5 4670, 8GB RAM, GTX 680 2GB. No overclock. lydianduck
All i want to say is how easy it was, at least for me, to find a constant 60fps spot (even though that implied removing MSAA altogether -all other settings are a combination of high, very high and ultra), it was literally IMPOSSIBLE to have 60 frames all the time in IV. This game rocks!!! Edited April 15, 2015 by lydianduck Jociz
webe123
I like the fact that the ones who are posting are close to my specs on PC! I get my copy tomorrow when I get paid from my job. Can't Wait! lydianduck
Luchingador
if you have an AMD Graphics card i recomend you using the 15.4 Beta Drivers, they improved FPS stability a lot for me, and even improve my performance a bit. http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/latest-catalyst-windows-beta.aspx?hootPostID=2029570326847afdcf9e14314ec5fc8b

lydianduck
OMG guys, for nvidia users who don't want to use the framerate killer msaa and use fxaa instead, turn off the in game fxaa and activate it via nvidia's control panel, it does a MUCH better job eliminating the aliasing, im gonna post screenshots comparing, soon. Damn you're right, it looks much better. Thank you I was using just FXAA before. Nvidia override is better than the in-game version. lydianduck
No problem, more people need to try it. By the way, nvidia's anisotropic filtering also looks better than the one in-game (road textures look less blurry in the distance), I think, I haven't tested it enough yet, but FXAA im certain. Thalyn
Thanks lydianduck, I'm going test this, because i'm very disapointed about AA on GTA V for the moment. With FXAA, MSAA x4 and TXAA activated, i have a lot of Aliasing in the background generally. I tried without FXAA, and MSAA x4 & x8, with and without TXAA... and i don't notice differences about these Aliasing in the background.I'm not usually so hard to please (for AA), but now this aliasing (in the background) is unbearable to see ... it's an aliasing very "aggressive" to the eyes
