Snapmatic Shots

Since this is the PC Version I was wondering if the shots get saved locally to our PC's before uploading?

I don't want to save crappy 960 x 536 shots.

Yes, they are stored in C:\Users\<Your username>\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA V\Profiles\<8-character string>\ and are named in the format PGTA5<9-digit number> (no file extension). They are JPEGs with extra data added to the header.

Anyway to be able to convert it so I can view them? adding the .jpeg does nothing.

 

EDIT: Nevermind opened it in photoshop and they're still 960 x 536 shots.

Some image programs like Photoshop and Irfanview can open them, but not all programs. Firefox won't see them as images, even with the .jpg extension. Imgur won't accept them, etc.

 

To turn them in to proper JPEGs, you have to remove the first 292 bytes from the file. I was considering writing a program to do this, but it seemed like too much effort for a simple fix that I don't think would be useful to many people.

If I were to remove the first 292 bytes from the file, would I be able to view them in their full res or at 960 x 536 shots.

The game saves them as 960x536 JPEGs. There's probably nothing we can do to change that until sometime after modding possibilities open up. For now use your PrntScrn key or Steam's screenshot key.

Darn I really like using the Camera Phone to take really nice shots...

Ah well hoping some awesome modder can get rid of the hud in snapmatic mode.

I'm just opening the files in photoshop and saving them as a photoshop again and it works, it is still 960x536 tho...
