SilentMage
Dynamic/Headlight Shadows appear when you have shadows set to Very High. As for what Long Shadows are: Where did you get this image from? It looks like it's part of a set (based on the boxes in the lower-righthand corner) and that the rest of the shots would be useful to share, too. lol232
lol232, I do not complain about dynamic shadows in general. The only thing I complain about is absence of player character's shadow in headlights, while GTA IV does not have this issue. Just stand in front of headlights and you will see no shadow in GTA V, while in GTA IV you will see your shadow. Sorry for having repeated that. Ah, I understand.Well, GTA IV's dynamic shadows aren't as impressive, only pedestrians and non-static objects (trash cans, fences, lamp posts - except for vehicles) would cast them, while in GTA V everything would cast shadows. They probably made it like that in GTA V so it's less hardware demanding - still, it would be cool to have an option to make it so every vehicle headlight casts shadows. Moskau
Thanks for this !. From where comes this picture ? It seems to be an nvidia document (green color) but I can't find it anywhere. FilipCRO
Lets talk about shadows. I have shadows quality set on very high, High Resolution Shadows is activated, but what about soft shadows ?? Is Nvidia PCSS the best looking option, or should I go for "softest" ? FilipCRO
As far as I have learned, the Extended Shadows distance must be put to 0, zero. Period! That option is bugged and gives worse shadows. About AMD CHS Soft shadows, I have a GTX 970 (Nvidia), should I use that setting or not ? Is it optimized for Nvidia ? AMD CHS is for AMD cards, I believe. The next option up is Nvidia PCSS which is for Nvidia cards. Soft/Softer/Softest are just all around settings. FilipCRO
Nvidia pcss has a rather large perfomance hit, even in the city, so I dont use it (and it looks ugly sometimes)...
grandola
I think it's a bug... I have all my settings maxed out pretty much and the headlights do cast a shadow but only on NPCs. I've only played with Franklin but when I put him in front of headlights, no shadow. I drive with with and out the headlights on NPCs, shadow! grandola
If you have NVIDIA GeForce, its an app and it has an area that lets you "optimize" the game settings for your RIG. and it covers all the graphics settings in GTA V. Thanks for this !. From where comes this picture ? It seems to be an nvidia document (green color) but I can't find it anywhere.
