K.Walters
ok guys,i think maybe i found the solution, especially for those who have the high end gpus(eg.970 980 class) so it's all about the Vsync option, you should turn it ON if your rig can keep the game always above 60fps.then it will eliminate all the stuttering. i have a i5 4670k oc4.2 + gtx980 + SSD,and had massive stuttering even when it was running at 140+fps(i lowered the settings for more fps to see what exactly happened). i think the it was caused by the fluctuating fps,the bigger the difference between max and min fps the worse. how the hell did R* spend these 4 months delay to "POLISH" this crap??customers have to smooth the game by the using the Vsync, ridiculous and joking. Cool will try that when the 60Gb will re-download. And yeah. 3 delays for for this crap?

xPubHD
Can anyone confirm that downgrading the driver removes the stuttering? For me, it didn't. I own a GTX 960. But re-installing the drivers worked temporarly for me. I haven't tried this but try this. Lock the GTA V launcher to 20fps. Tampering with limiting the FPS in the launcher causes the game to crash after some minutes. Just like if you just close the launcher. However, the games run buttersmooth when doing it. Dan2k
After hours of trying and thinking I found a solution which fixed the problem for me, the game runs perfectly smooth now. What I did: At first i found out that the stutter was caused by the GTA V Launcher which still was in the taskmanager as a process while you're already in the game. So i just closed the Launcher which temporary fixed my stutter problem but only for a few minutes because the game crashed without the launcher process. After that i saw (using DXtory) that the Launcher itself had about 8000 fps when it started the game. So i thought that this probably causes the stutter. So what completly fixed my problem is an FPS-cap for the GTA Launcher. (20 Fps) I use DXtory for that. You can download it here: http://exkode.com/dxtory-downloads-en.html When you start the game with DXtory active it creates a profile for the GTA Launcher and one for GTAV itself. After that you need to close the game and modify the profiles like that: Select the GTA Launcher profile, go to the advanced tab and check "Limit Video FPS" and put a 20 in the box. After that select the GTA Profile and unlimit or limit the games fps to your preference. Now start the game, the stutter should be gone... hope it works for you guys too Thank you for this suggestion. I will get back to you, if it fix the stutter for me. Seems plausible. Omg, the game is REALLY buttersmooth now, solid 60FPS and absolutely 0 stuttering. However. The game crashed, just like if you closed the console. You had that issue? I'm happy that my solution worked for you I get occasional crashes but i also had them before i changed anything. When i killed the Launcher process it crashed after about 5 minutes of playing without exception. With the FPS-capped launcher i had about 3 crashes in about 8 hours of playing (played nearly the whole day ). The longest crash free period was about 3 1/2 hours straight. TheQuagmire
Maybe it is a launcher issue. I attempted to use dxtory earlier, and the launcher would get hooked and display +500fps on the window. After the game would launch it would automatically crash to desktop. Seems the launcher is the culprit to a lot of issues with the game.

OpenMind23
Main Fixes I found:1, Leave Advanced Settings alone. Especially Those Extra Distance Sliders. 2, Setting VSync to "Half" in in-game settings helps much. Having it set to On causes some stutter for me.3, When Using VSync on half, set In-Game Depth Of Field Effects To Off. If not, everything in the distance looks fuzzy when panning.4, Make sure that you keep FPS to 60 continually when using any type of VSync. If you dip into the 50's, it causes stutter. To achieve this, lower some in-game settings. Or buy a GSync Monitor 5, Setting everything to max even if Video Memory is green or yellow, is gonna cause problems with stutter unless you have a monster PC. This Video Memory indicator is for Video RAM and not GPU horse-power. Plus, these setting effect CPU & Ram too. K0ol-G-R4P
I had some pretty bad stuttering when attempting to use all my VRAM (3GB). What I discovered through testing is my ceiling for a steady 60fps is 2780GB. No matter what settings I choose, as long as I don't exceed that number I don't stutter. I hope this helps some of you. Dmayne
I've been getting the stuttering... I don't think there is much we can do on our end to completely remove it but at least we can try to minimize it. I'm running: i5 3570k overlocked to 4.2 gtx 970 slightly overclocked (adds 5fps) 16gb ram 256 ssd This is for story mode only, I have not went online yet. Find the settings that suit you best then try this: -in nvidia control panel / manage 3d settings / find gta exes and turn on vsync and triple buffering, and make sure vsync is off in game. -while gta v is open, tab out and open task manager / click processes / find subprocess.exe (social club ui) there will be like 4 of them, and end processes of them all. Doing just this gives me like 10 more fps and it doesn't crash the game. -while in task manager / processes / find gta v exe and right click put high priority. Depends, I would not go back now since I like the clarity and speed with 120Hz. Even with 60FPS, it feels much better having 120Hz. The main benefit is, 1, if your FPS are really high in games, say 80FPS or more, you dont see much to no tearing when Vsync is not enabled. 2, When VSync is enabled, the game can lock to 120FPS instead of 60 if your rig can handle it or the game ain't demanding. Also, with GTA V for instance, I found that the 119Hz I select even while using VSync, my experience and sharpness and fluidity of the game is great with 120Hz. Of course there are now GSync monitors, but they are REALLY expensive AND only a handful of games support that tech. If you are gonna purchase one, I recommend Asus or Benq. I own the Benq XL2420T, its fantastic. Main Fixes I found: (ETC) Having VSync set to "Half" locks the game at 30fps. Unless you use a 120Hz Monitor, Which I do, then select 119Hz in the GTA V menu. Then if using VSync Half, it locks to 60FPS. :-) I did test my monitor at 60Hz and normal VSync and it did also reduce my stutter considerably, but I do prefer 120Hz bacause of the extra clarity and sharpness.
