umdking
Is there anybody who get the stuttering on Win7? Or stuttering happens on Win8/Win8.1 only? Because I just saw a video on youtube, a guy playing the game on 4gb ram, on the (almost) exact same laptop as mine, and he doesn't get stutter. He uses win7, I use win8. I getting stutter. So... Anyone with win7 can confirm he has stuttering too? Maybe Win8 is the reason? not only win8,win7 has the same problem. mine is win7,and i5 4670 oc4.2 16GB ram 980GTX ,heavily stuttering like i said in another thread. It has nothing to do with the rig or the game settings.the game itself caused it. in my case, when you drive through some areas,it has heavily stuttering.BUT when you go another place and just go back again the same area it had stuttering last time, the stuttering just disappeared. it's certainly a data loading defect.the game does't preload enough data, for some reason. nyolc8
But why some people don't get the problem? This is what makes me wonder.
cp1dell
Possible fix for stuttering (when driving, not the stuttering caused by the memory leak). Haven't tried it myself yet. Didn't GTA IV have a similar fix when it used to have stuttering issues?
Antaxi
at fresh launch it work flawlessly,great... but then that stuttering happens, it happen approximately after 2 or 3 (after 30-40 mins at time) game missions prob memory leak its annoying as f*ck and not even fixed. just re-launch your game if you feeling the stuttering gettin close

Didn't GTA IV have a similar fix when it used to have stuttering issues? I thought about that, but if that would be a problem then why it happens only after a few minutes? So... no... (Or the driving stutter occurs immediately for someone? I never noticed that.) Edited April 27, 2015 by nyolc8

nyolc8
For many games, people tell to set sound quality down and check those boxes to get better performance.... But... stutter does not happening at start, just a few minutes later, so I think it's not a sound problem.
cp1dell
I tried it out and it didn't work for me. And lets clear up what stuttering there is. There's two stuttering issues people are experiencing, both of which have been around before the patches. The obvious one is the most common, it's the memory leak. After a certain amount of time of playing the game (depending on how much RAM you have), your RAM will start to fill up and the game will stutter. Becoming increasingly worse as time goes on. Then there's the stuttering while driving that some people are getting. Walking, running around, cutscenes - all that stuff is fine. But when driving around the city, there's a sort of microstutter. It's nothing huge - the game doesn't turn into a slideshow or anything. It looks as if a frame is removed from the rendering of the game. Say you're driving down the street, and there are lampposts lined up against the sidewalk. As you're driving, the lamppost is getting closer and closer to the screen - but then it will stutter - and it will look as if the lamppost made a small "jump" towards the screen. Again, nothing huge, but it's noticeable. The progression isn't smooth.
nyolc8
I think the two stutter is the same thing... The stutter in driving happening because the game loads the new map objects, as you move. And because of the memory "storage" is full where the objects getting stored temporary, it takes time to remove something from there to put the new objects in memory. And this time makes the missing frames or how you describe it. So basically the stutter happens when the game puts the datas from the gamefiles into the system memory. Somehow this "mechanism" is bad. Edited April 27, 2015 by nyolc8
cp1dell
It's not, because some people don't experience the "stuttering while driving" issue, but get the memory leak one. Even people with SSDs, GTX 970s, 980s - all kinds of fast enough hardware to stream objects. Some people have the stuttering while driving issue, and are able to fix it - but still have the memory leak issue. They're two separate issues. Scharkey
I just noticed today myself, through solid 60 fps, that the only way to remove the horrible stuttering was to turn off the custom radio.
Canes21
Last time I played, I had stuttering on foot after about an hour of smooth playtime. MSI showed I was only using 5.8GB of RAM of 8GB available. I wasn't using, but 1.4gb of vram it said as well. So I don't know.
umdking
But why some people don't get the problem? This is what makes me wonder. perhaps because of perspective i think.some people are not very sensitive to fps. i'm the very sensitive kind,i can feel a game which is running at 60fps has stuttering when it's dipping to 58 or below. emcax24
ok i haven't gotten any memory leak. i tested for 24 hours. not on purpose but a test is a test is a test. anyway i was playing some gta 5 and i had to go out, but i was in the middle of a mission so i paused and minimized game. left for 24 hours. don't do this if your system isn't stable btw. lol 24 hours stress test on my GPU and RAM, we passed. anyway i come home, and start using my computer, even opened photoshop and chrome since the game and OS and everything else left me with 1 gig physical (out of 5gb total) available. so anyway i eventually go back to my game without closing any of that. and when i pick up my controller (i use it to drive) and continue the game it started and was driving, but then i had some major stuttering. like pauses for 5+ seconds at a time, not that little framerate shift that happens when playing your own music. but after about 10 minutes or so all of that stopped. i think this was mostly due to me being out of system ram not any memory leak. i've looked at my usage and my task manager and or process explorer (all of you need this. google "process explorer" it's made by sysinternal, now microsoft and it's legit microsoft.com) are always running in the background. this game handles resources fairly well. i've rarely seen it use more than 3.5 gb of ram. i think it scales pretty well. the more ram you have the more it uses. the less, it cuts back on the physics and AI. as for the sound quality options. i dunno if that's gonna change anything but i'll try. I'm actually gonna turn mine up to 24bit and 48K. i just realized i've been using 16 bit since forever on my 24bit card. i dunno how turning down sound quality in your sound card would fix anything though. this is hardware level. updating sound card drivers would help more than this would i think. or changing the sound quality settings in the game itself. but anyway i'll try and get back to you. ILS_Supernova
Watched this video before and to me this guy has no stutter that I can see, well not on the level i experience. It doesn't make the game unplayable but does hinder the experience so what. I'm hoping this is a issue that can be patched, i would hope with my 16GB of RAM that I'm not getting leaking! youtu.be/1Ue7i2z39ug
