IEleMenTIx
Water on PC simply doesn't look amazing. I Play with GTX680 SLI maxed out everything and get about 40fps. Game Looks really crisp, except water (ocean). Did a comparison with the Xbox 360 Version I have just 10 mins ago and Boy is it a difference hahah 360's water Looks far better. Higher waves and realistic water foam on every wave... Hope there will be a mod

DentureDynamite
+1 on that--I ventured into the water last night in Story Mode (while I was waiting on access to GTA Online), and was VERY impressed with the water; in some ways better than the water in Crysis (which IMO has been among the best for years). I noticed though that puddles of water that collect on the street after rain are completely unaffected by cars driving through them (was expecting some kind of "splash" effect)...but nada. I probably just don't have a beefy enough gfx card... Edited April 14, 2015 by DentureDynamite

Ash_735
It IS still missing the foam effects though, this was the case with the PS4/Xbox One versions of the game as well, Rockstar stated it was an error and would be fixed at some point. ...Still not been fixed and now there's a PC version out which still has the bug. EvilDog77
The foam effects are present and correct on my 7970. GTA V's water effects are the best I've ever seen in a game. I remember how impressed I was when I saw them on PS3. A month later I played Paracel Storm on BF4 and was like "WTF is this sh*t?"

IEleMenTIx
Sharks80fr posted some pics above. everyone's bashing me, but water Looks like the first Picture from Sharks80fr on my PCSo SLI seems to be the Problem. I'll try it with SLI disabled. OK SLI seems to be the Problem here! With SLI 680 enabled the ocean is pretty much flat. Without SLI 680 it Looks amazing! RisingRedWolf
I don't know man, I absolutely loved the water in the other versions... but I gotta say seeing it at a solid 60fps in 1440p has made me fall in love with it all over again. I do hope they fix the "bug" with the foam though. I didn't notice it as much in the Xbox One version but according to a lot of people it was nerfed, so seeing some kind of override slider for water effects would be welcome. Edit: also for the above comparisons, (for some reason quoting isn't working for me) these are still images and while they look kind of decent in pictures, the water physics in these games are miles behind GTA V. Watch Dogs probably comes the closest in physics but there are no large waves from memory, it uses some kind of strange physics system that is not even as good as the water in Battlefield 4. If you guys are interested in seeing more accurate comparisons, look up videos on water for the above games and you will see what I mean. SpoonHandle
I have also 680 sli and facing same problem. I found out, that disabling sli fixes that. SLI enabled: SLI disabled: Confirmed that I'm having this issue with Crossfire-X as well. (Two R9-280X) I disabled Crossfire and the water looked much better. Particularly with Crossfire there barely seems to be much of a boost in performance, so for now I'll disable Crossfire until the game properly supports it. BigBadMF
That is wild. You would think SLI or Crossfire would make it look better. Oh well. We got seven updates out of GTA IV, not to mention all the hacks we got just in order to run it at almost-decent framerates. We will just have to hope it gets fixed. I find it hard to believe they would allow the game to be released knowing that SLI or Crossfire has to be disabled to make realistic foam. I only am running a Radeon R7 265, and my foam FX look like the photo above.
