Mid-Tower case housing a nuclear reactor of a rig

Hope this is the place to come for advice / a quick question on a build.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/z278wP-- hope that works.

My question is: I am looking to build a gargantuan GTA V-butt-kicker of a rig (i7-4790K | 2 x EVGA GTX 980 SC SLi | 16GB DDR3) for... oh, I dunno, no particular reason, but I don't lift.

So, originally, I had this planned to sit in a full tower with a 1000W psu. But the case chosen weighed in at a hefty 16kg, and the whole rig at 25kg. (Yes, I know there's lighter, but this is actually a pre-built.)

Thus my comment about not lifting.

Another option is to use a half-tower case: a NZXT H440, which is 13 lb lighter. Suddenly, I don't have to be CJ after 20,000 mashes of left-shift.

And because the case is smaller, fewer extra things could go in, so I'll going to drop to 850W psu.

But, and here's my question, CAN a rig as power thirsty as my intended beast safely sit inside a mid-tower case without bursting into flames?

Sorry, missing details: Yes, I have a cpu cooler ordered (Corsair H100i), which means one 140mm, five 120mm fans total.

Also, are there other considerations about using a mid-tower case that I should know about?
Such as, will I lose drive bays because of the massive gpus?

It should do the job, although I'd go for reference design GPUs - non-reference coolers aren't a good idea for SLI, because the lower card will heat up the card above it, not to mention that the CPU will run hot too.

Also, EVGA SuperNOVA NEX (G1) power supplies are... underwhelming, to say the least. In such a high-end rig I'd look for something better. If you want to stick with EVGA, get the SuperNOVA G2 or GS.

Yeah, Partpicker wouldn't let me choose the EVGA SuperNOVA 850W G2 Gold. Didn't seem to be in the catalogue?!

Don't think I get a choice with the reference-ness of the gpus, anymore. Already procured. So, I'd be better, if I have to stick with the non-ref gpus, to return to the monster case, right?

If you want to stick with the non-reference cards, I'd search for a case that has air inlets on the side to allow mounting extra fans, that should help a lot.
