Tomern11
How can I open the project that I make via the R* editor? They're exported to the gallery ( my documents folder ) as .vid files ( for instance 'test.vid' ), that for some reason my windows media player can't play. Not even on Quicktime, tried that one too... Do you folks know about a solution to this issue, please? I've Googled it, but nothing seems simple. I'm eager to make videos in this game, but through an external, desktop editor as well. Both game and video editor are amazing.

Did you try any of the video editing softwares like Vegas, AE, Premiere, etc? You can import them and then render accordingly.. Simple. It should be playable in VLC..and even QuickTime.. If you can't open them...then i'm pretty sure they are not the regular VID files...Maybe they'll only open in Rockstar Editor.. They might have added some metadata... Firstly, thank you for your comment. I'm using Pinnacle studio. Kinda 'daft' but i like the interface, simple and friendly to use. Tried to import, with no luck. Anyway, I don't have any other editing software. But the main thing is, that i can't even play those videos...really weird.back then. it was simple with IV, wmv files...and as aforementioned, Quicktime couldn't play it. TheTechPoTaToCHIP
Did you render the vids? The same happens to GTA IV. It saves it as a .vid file because it's the file the editor opens. If you want a watchable video, you have to render it. TheMostKnowledgable and Kafonix

r0llinlacs
I'm actually very disappointed with the editor. Not able to render in 4k and it's locked to uploading to RSGC or Youtube only. I can't find an actual video file anywhere, in the videos folder my "rendered" video is a 2kb .vid file. Unless anybody else knows anything I don't, without being able to edit the actual videos on your own, the editor is pretty pointless. I was looking forward to playing with it, but Rockstar's new limitations and restrictions completely ruined the editor experience.
Jax765
You can render to the gallery in the game (providing a stable framerate), and the rendered file will be in your appdata folder. Only problem is that it seems to be more compressed than if you just use Fraps or Shadowplay to capture the footage in-game. samp127
Go to "C:\Users\*user*\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA V\videos\rendered" and the rendered video is there in MP4 format. From there you can upload it to anywhere on the internet, or edit it in any video editing software. jackoboy9, Ziggy yardie, Alvarez and 2 others

Thank you samp127 however, the quality of the video is shockingly ridiculous, perhaps that video is like a preview of what the original is? reason I say this is, the bitrate is much lower than what was set for exporting in game. even though it didn't give any options except high, low medium or something to that effect as well as 30fps.. and the exported video also have black borders on the side. seems like a really low resolution. The bitrate seems OK to me. Videos are rendered at your game's resolution.
