Nick930930
I've noticed that when using "Self FM", the game severely stutters and lags, especially during online gameplay. Anyone else have this issue? There's also audio cutting in and out but only with this radio station. I disabled "Auto-Scan", but it's still acting like it's searching for files in my hardrive. nkjellman
Self FM tracks are also too quiet. I sure hope they fix it. I keep getting little FPS drops every 3 seconds and it is annoying (all the time). Game runs really smooth, if we don't count for these random lags. It is annoying because no one else is having my issue. Edited April 14, 2015 by nkjellman
ClaudeGnome
I and others have experienced it as well. It's something that should easily be fixed with a patch.

Nick930930
Yeah so it's not just me. We need to submit a ticket to Rockstar to have this fixed.
Finknz
Yes its happening to me too. (lag) I tried both adding a shortcut to a music folder and pasting the mp3s straight into the gtav music folder with the same result. My only issue with this great game so far. Laqueesha
Yeah. Whenever I listen to Self Radio, the game becomes Stutter Central. EDIT: I think I've found a possible fix. Turn off "Auto Scan For Music". It should stop the stuttering. Edited April 15, 2015 by Laqueesha
Frank ツ
If you remove all songs from the usermusic folder does that also remove the self radio station?

daformer
Same here , when I change the radio to self radio I start getting stuttering and fps drops. I noticed that when it's on self radio my cpu load goes up which is causing the stutters. Can u guys check ur cpu usage and see if it increases? BigBadMF
Am playing now. Successfully installed. So I am tweaking it to get the features I am used to from IV. You can program your scroll or track wheel to change radio stations. I just did it, have not checked it yet...just a minute and I will tell you if it worked....Yes works fine. Just go into your key binding setup, and go to the setting for general vehicle. You will have to bind two things. Next Radio Station, and Previous Radio Station. You bind scroll up as a key to Next Radio Station. You bind scroll down as a key to Previous Radio Station. Note that if you only bind scroll up to Next Radio Station without doing the other one, if you scroll up, then down, you will get nothing but random radio stations in each direction. If you want to scroll back and forth with the radio stations in order (like they are on a list), you have to bind BOTH of the two scroll directions (scroll up/scroll down) to the Next or Previous Radio Station settings. Hope the above info helps. Now back to the game. Edited April 16, 2015 by BigBadMF

TheMostKnowledgable
This is not the solution to the problem, but guys, seriously, listen to the ingame radio a while if you haven't yet lol. It's awesome. The talk shows and deejays and the meaning of the music picked. it's great.
PittDawg
For those of you that are using self FM, how many songs do you have in the folder?
SkittyM
For those of you that are using self FM, how many songs do you have in the folder? I have 36 total songs in mine (1 Album and 4 separate songs) and can say that the station does seem to impact lag quite a bit. I have turned off Auto Scan. RedIndianRobin
Does Self FM support shortcuts like in previous GTAs? Or do we have to copy those songs to that folder?
Naroon
This was a problem in GTA IV as well, the stuttering I mean. I had about 200+ songs in my folder, but usually it'd only stutter once when I switched to the station after booting the game up and it'd be fine after that. Most likely this will be fixed in a future patch if enough people bring it to R*'s attention.

I have tried both a few songs and loads of songs and it doesnt make a difference unfortunately. For the record I am using Realtek sound drivers. Not sure if thats got anything to do with it. sjaak327
It doesn't stutter for me (at least not in SP). I have a shortcut with over 1300 songs in it. Not too pleased about the fact that it seems to sort by artist name rather than album when selecting sequential mode though.
Conwin
I made a 20 song playlist and it lags up my game pretty badly, it makes my frames bounce all over the place. Not really sure why it causes this but hopefully Rockstar can fix it soon. Edited April 16, 2015 by Conwin
Ash_735
Possible it's a streaming issueif both the game and music are on the same hard drive, could anyone with an SSD confirm this? If so, then for now, try moving your music to another hard drive, either USB or a Flash Drive and then creating shortcuts in the User Music folder instead. LazlowsucksiloveslutS
As of this date, are there any solutions? In-game radio sucks, I can't stand it. There are two ways to roam the streets: one - listening to self radio, two - turning the radio off. It fascinates me how SA and IV don't have this problem. I once had 1000+ songs in my IV user music and it didn't affect performance a bit. Strangely, having auto scan on makes game play a little bit more stable as opposed to turning it off. Also, it only seems to lag when playing music. During the news and commercials game runs normally. I thought Self Radio lag was a voice chat issue since I had it turned off, this wasn't the case however. I wonder if Output mode is a problem and switching from headphones/stereo to surround or tv might help... Or could it be a directx problem and I shall switch from 10.1 to 10. XenoxX
Has anyone tried to put the UserMusic on the SSD? I have my GTA V and usermusic on my SSD and everything works fine for me.
