jaysab
Am I the only one having this issue? The game lags when driving. It will have good frames, but it will have a quick drop like every 3 seconds. Very irritating. Any solutions? I have: -i7 4790k -GTX 970 4GB -16 GB of RAM -Game installed on a 4TB external I hope there is a solution to this, and it isn't that the game is another GTA IV. Hey nkjellman I have the same problem running on the same specs as yours. But my game is installed on my 6G/S HHD. and still lagging Edited July 7, 2015 by jaysab
Teletesselator
Or I guess installing the game on SSD + FAST RAM Don't listen to idiots saying ddr3 1333 is enough The difference between 1333Mhz and 1600/1866/2166Mhz is negligible. I dare say YOUR the idiot for suggesting people pay a 50-100% premium for something that will provide little/no benefit You're the idiot who fails to realize that faster RAM speeds have significant gains in the minimum FPS you get in games which could be the difference between 24 and 30 FPS in some case. (Battlefield 4 is a good example)Seriously, this misinformation of "faster RAM has miniscule benefits" is getting boring. Especially when the price difference between 1600Mhz and 2133 RAM is $10 at most. Well, not exactly, no - but kind of. Faster or overclocked system RAM won't improve temporal frame rates - unless there is some bizarre game engine I dunno about. But 'updates' (think uploading) to the video card take less time and these times /may/ be responsible for occasional lags - the kind that intermittently occur momentarily during game play. In so far as such lagging affects the average framerate then yes, faster memory /can/ affect the averages. This is generally speaking... Now if the CPU is being used to render or alter some aspects of the frame (like in games which might require the PhysX API to be present and the system doesn't incorporate a PhysX capable card) then yes, for sure, RAM Speed could very possibly affect temporal frame rates directly. Personally, I've never run into such a case though. And no one is an idiot. Just human gamers trying to figure stuff out and help each other. -- PS: where are you seeing 2100 RAM for only $10 over non-XMP sticks? Everytime I look it's close to twice as much? What brands are you comparing at what shops... I want 2100 for only $10 more... or 3200 for whatever... jad51
I lag like anything when I am driving or flying with other people, don't really notice it when driving by myself to much. Don't think it has anything to do with your computer it is your internet connection. Sometimes GTAV is unplayable when doing heists as you kill the people then they just get back up again, like unkillable zombies. GTA V is very hard on your net connection, do not really know why as BF4 plays fine. But GTA V definitely plays better at certain times, manly in the morning when there is less people online. By the way I have got GTA V on an SSD separate from my operating system SSD Edited July 8, 2015 by jad51 Teletesselator
SpectacularMoose
If you are lagging badly on Gta 5, it might be do to your MB chipset drivers, you might want to see if there is an update for them. I had the same problem, as soon as I updated the chipset drivers, the game runs smooth now. Hope this helps anyone with lag.

No it doesnt, unless you are switching from 1333 to 3000 you wont feel any difference in games, and he aint complaining about low Fps but a stutter every 3 seconds its not the extra 10 buck that the ram cost.. most of the times it will be the motherboard that cant handle faster ram. if your problem is having 24 OR 30 fps then you should consider upgrading your gpu and not the ram @op try this it worked for me when i had the gtx970 https://steamcommunity.com/app/271590/discussions/0/611704730329043028/ also the grass detail seems to heavy, even in the city would cause frame drops Edited July 26, 2016 by HaRdSTyLe_83
stobe187
GTA V = similar port-game than it´s previous IV 4770.GTX-750TI ,new WHQL NVIDIA dr. TEX normal Shadow normal rest 1080p,HIGH - VERY HIGH... 18-20FPS avg. also several lags in 1st missing lamar - franklin You are delusional if you think that the optimization in V is even close to the sh*tshow that IV has. I still can't get IV to run at a steady 60, with a rig that was built six months ago. V is butter smooth compared to IV. Also, I think you are asking a bit too much from your GPU if you are running very high settings.
