Not sure, I might not like or understand these streamers, but I certainly dislike thieves.

 

Would be easy for Rockstar to block the key so that whoever stole it cannot enter GTAOnline at the very least.

Yea, as dumb as they were to not finish installation before streaming, I cant see Rockstar not doing anything b/c of HOW it was taken.

 

Its happened to more than just this guy too lol.

This also happened to Streamerhouse yesterday/past night. They didn't know the Social Club login info, so by the time they got it someone else 'stole' the key already. :p

I think this is more of Steams fault for popping up your stream key without warning or anything. But yeah..

Indeed. This incident is a rather sad reflection of the human race, the stupid angle and the immoral angle. Laughing at it is probably the only way not to get depressed by it.

It's not Steams fault. Steam does this with ALL games that require a key. ALL of them. These streamers are all at fault because THEY SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER.

Haven't been buying any games at launch so I don't know much about it, but GTA IV has a "CD Key" link that you have to click on manually to get activation key for GFWL :D

 

But yeah, looks like R* support page also warned that activation key will be sent over to you, so...

Umm if GTA V isn't the first game he is playing on Steam, than he should definitely know the key keeps popping up at the beginning, first when you click launch it's in a small window and you need to click start again, than when the game launches it overlays the key in case you need to type it in.. It does this with every single game I own on steam..

 

I have another game where I already logged 100+ hours and the key still pops up everytime I launch it..

Happened to another streamer too. First someone stole his key in the same way then he got banned from social club because he couldnt remember the password and then he created a new temporary one but he did something wrong and the new one was PERMANTLY linked with his steam. It was absolutely HILLARIOUS though i feel sorry for him he seemed like a good guy.

Ah, I was watching that guy. He was constantly making mistakes and goofy errors. He was even warned by the chat about the CD key appearing and chose to ignore the chat.

Side note, he must've showed the key before. It was on there for literally 3 seconds, no one can type it that fast.

I agree, no matter how stupid or idiotic he was or how much he "deserves" this, its still not OK that someone stole his key..I hope R*'s support is gonna do something against the thieve.

It was up there for a least two minutes from when recording in the OP started, people who were watching said it was up there for a few minutes more before that. The key is in the Steam overlay popup in the bottom right of the Social Club window. So it was more like a "split three minutes" rather than a "split second".
