satrnv
Having the same issue here, with a GTX 970 (drivers up to date), i5 3570k, and 8GB ram Strangely low FPS and stuttering. I've also crashed twice now with the error "ERR_GFX_D3D_INIT". Any ideas? Edited April 14, 2015 by satrnv

Njale
Two major factors of PC performance people often forget is RAM speed and HDD speed, if those 2 are equally good as the rest of your setup then you'll need to play with the settings to get something more stable. PHOENIXZERO
Turn down/off MSAA on reflections.
RyanBurnsRed
Try 4X MSAA and in the advanced graphics set the two sliders to the middle. With this I get 40-50 fps with everything else maxed at 1080p on a single Titan (max clock speed is 1124 Mhz) and a Xeon X5650 overclocked to 4.0Ghz. Good luck! mrblazedemingo
my friend are also having the same problem as well! I watched him play with his 60 FPS smooth jaw dropping GTA5, but after he went to GTA5 Online, somehow the FPS dropped to 30FPS and kept as well in story mode... he IS ASKING if there is any thing happened to you guys? so far 2 of my friends are facing the same issue here
PHOENIXZERO
From what I've read the "Advanced Graphics" options can all be pretty taxing.
Braindawg
Hmm too bad for your 3.5GB of VRAM In all honesty though, Im more than certain they'll release patches to dumb down any performance clutters... AK7
ClaudeGnome
I also have a GTX 970 and I had the same problem, but I turned the MSAA to X2 and got amazing results. Edited April 14, 2015 by SuckerGnome
utack
My bet is on an applied 3.5GB VRAM issue. It uses more than that easily if you go all very high/ultra.
_MK_
Same here,it's dropping hard, from 58 to 37 then gets back,VRAM usage 3.2-3.3GB,not even using the extra 0.5. Edited April 14, 2015 by _MK_

gdfsgdfg
I'm surprised the game is somewhat playable maxed out on my 660 and 3570k (everything maxed except anti-alising) but this stuttering is worse than AC Unity I sh*t you not its really f*cking annoying. And the graphics aren't even that good its like enb gta iv. Edited April 14, 2015 by gdfsgdfg

EvilPrince
What? It should be your settings. i5-4670K, 9 GB RAM, GTX 760 here and it's 60-80 FPS on Nvideo optimal settings. Althoough my VRAM is currently 2400mb/2048mb but the temperature is under normal so I let it to be in that way.
Kampret
if you remember GTA IV PC version then you know what is going on..... It's a whole different beast you pessimist. The game's launched and almost everyone are satisfied with the performance and the graphics. Just because you can't afford it and no one would give it to you for free doesn't mean you have the rights to be salty.
Antaxi
you need more vram (6-12GB would perfect) thats why Edited April 14, 2015 by Antaxi
nkjellman
I am going to trade my 970 in for a 980. Having the same issues here. No crashing. Just an annoying lag every three seconds. I get steady 60 FPS, but a lag every 3 seconds. No matter what the settings, I cant get it to stop. It goes something like this. Smooth smooth smooth lag smooth smooth smooth lag smooth smooth smooth lag, and so on... Kinda like what Watch Dogs did.
Shayd80
spend "a lot" of time on settings yesterday, trying everything max settings and playing and i realise Ultra vegetation was the issue, when on county side it's getting laggy so i turned it on very high and no issue anymore also have shadows on very high instead of ultra. Don't forget we have 3.5 vram (thanks nvidia) and even if in the settings, it says you are using like 3.0 it's not 100% true, i played with MSI afterburner in the background and the max vram i was using was something like 3.6 when in the settings it was saying 3.0 so yes try to lower graph
K20
760 SLi 2GB here.... no lag what so ever. even with explosions with heavy foliage around. 50-60fps use the nvidia optimum settings. i've seen a lot of people with issues on the 970's. maybe use an SSD to run the game from there.
