gear999
I know its unlocked now but I didn't play it. I didn't preorder it. The only reason I didn't was to come here on this very day and ask you guys a question. Is it like GTA IV was at launch? A horrible, unoptimised lagfest, or is it actually running great without any modifications? This will determine if my 60 bucks goes to R* or not. Thanks in advance! I didn't do any of those steps as well, i will as soon as i watch videos of people playing GTAV on youtube, check wiki pages for bugs, new features, optimization etc...and THEN i will decide whether it is worth getting or not!... gear999
RisingRedWolf
Had half an hour to try it before work and i can run 60fps at 1440p on a GTX 780ti with all settings on ultra except for msaa, which drops the fps. So to answer your question, no. Runs and feels butter smooth and I cant wait to get home and play some more. Hope it helps you make up your mind. gear999

Thanks in advance! on VERY high, every thing max ,Under 1080p,you need at least 4GB vram decent graphic card.to run... 1.TEX.high around 900mb vram - very high 1.2GB vram 2.Shadow high-500MB Vram around the game with default Vram required based 1.2GB vram if i am not wrong..(upon you enteriing menu of setting),then add.above stuffs & several others visual options to max (high or very high)etc.. in my opinion the game is not good optimized yet...some situation may vary dropping fps..or lags
topeira
You are doing smart, OP. And i cant ignore such a post because if i were u i'd be dying to know how the game performs. I played for about 3 hours and on my rig (see in sig) i max most of the settings on 1080p and get great fps. Not sure how many but its more than 30 or 40. This is NOT how GTAIV was. GTAV is Smooth like a criminal. Aint the best looking game out there (i feel watch dogs looks better) but it runs great and its fun. gear999 and Metal Slime
ZeroZero
Like a couple other folks in this thread, i played a bit before work (only 20 minutes tho) and on my i5 4670k, 16gb ram, R9 290 installed on a regular HDD it runs like a dream compared to GTA 4 when it came out on PC. I`d say buy that game! Stewlil and gear999

Few drops here and there, but otherwise well optimized. Definitely better than IV.
K20
played on my i7 4770 /760 SLI /16GB ram and runs like liquid. 60fps constant, with very high settings on 1080 [no MSAA, dont need it] its optimised better than i thought and the foliage... OMG. only had an hour of gameplay, but i'm hooked already. quality is unbelievable gear999
Stewlil
Yeah my PC is running a 3 year old Phenom II @ 4.2GHZ and a Radeon Twin Frozr II, 8GB ram. Quite an old rig but I can get solid 50-60fps on high settings. Very surprised! Seems like a great port! Metal Slime and gear999
Osho
Yeah. Its awesome. Way, waaay better optimisation than IV to run on PC smoothly. I have only played on my friends STEAM copy. The only thing holding me back really from buying are the modding potential. The moment I get some good news about how much mod friendly the game is, I'll order the game immediately. gear999
Jimbatron
As above its awesome and I do not use the word lightly. I was so very impressed having moved up from the PS3 which was still great fun. This is a new level. Worth every day of the wait. I've got it nearly maxed out at 1080p with an i7 and a Gtx970, and it is as smooth as a baby's bum. The only thing I have not maxed is long shadows cause I've hit the 4gb VRAM wall. Online sever loads times are way better than on the ps3 too. gear999
gear999
I forgot about this thread, sorry Thanks for the answers though! So anyway, I'm thinking about getting the game now. Literally. Right now. One more question though, would I be able to run it at high settings in 1080p at 60 FPS on a i5 4460, 8 GB RAM and a GTX 770 2 GB? K.Walters
Optimization if awesome. Everything set on High and it runs at 70-120 FPS. What bothers me is the stuttering, popins and blurred textures, but that`s the games or drivers fault and should be fixed soon. If it isn`t then prepare yourself for one of the biggest sh**storms 2015.

Evan-KCR
It ran like sh*t, stuttering and pop-ins all over the place. But then I let Geforce Experience optimize the settings, and it runs very well now. No stuttering or pop-ins. gdfsgdfg
This game works exactly like gta iv, it will be very playable on low end pc's but mid/high end pc's will actually have major problems trying to max the game.

MARKUS.
The only bad thing that I saw when I played it in my friend's house (i'm going to get it though) it's that it has the PS4/XOne wasted/busted effect. I loved it so much more on the ps3/xbox 360 version. I'm going to have the PS3, PS4 and PC version but the old gen effect for that it's so much better in my opinion. No awful lines in the back of the text, "that sound" when wasted/busted appears... I think it's the only thing that last gen GTA V beats the new gen versions Old gen - PS3 / X360 Current gen - PS4 / XONE / PC Edited April 14, 2015 by Markhosdangerous gear999

Im_ER_daddy
Population density is a bit dissapointing as it is the same on older gen consoles. Not like what you see in the trailer showing off a ton of cars and people walking around. There's cars and people walking around, just not like what you will see in the trailer But other than that its great

As per OP, me and others are having issues with LOD (Pop in). It is very annoying. Other than that, the game runs good.
