Fine change it a bit. Ghost mode only applies to non armed vehicles. This doesn't include the Armored Kuruma and the Insurgent SUV

Hell yes, no more getting ran over or chop up in blades. Not to mention being safe in my cars so I can drive things besides my Insurgent in FR

Someone who understands what I mean. I just want to drive in my Rolls Royce with a few randoms who I've already made a trust bond between and not be killed by someone when driving along.

@Red Ryder likes to pick up strange guys in free roam and drive around in his Rolls

Where do you like to drive them to @Ryder??? Free way rest stops? :inlove:

I bet your the one that sends me an apartment invite 30 seconds after I join a lobby :wtf:

F*cking Pervs in this game are a bigger reason to stay in Invite only than the free roam warriors!

Too bad Passive doesn't protect you from the friend requests , apartment invites etc.... these fruitcakes are always sending out!

And add to that the unability to use passive mode when you just killed someone 1 time more against that verry specific player(you still shoud be safe from everyone you left unharmed), the non abillity to pick crates up when in passive and to steal hp vehicles when being in passive and you have youreself a deal :)

That woud be perfect....but realy if you ask me its complicated enough to need 5 patches before its fixed

Anyone else want passive mode fixed before anything else happens?

what exactly is wrong with it?

besides the thing where it randomly disables when you exit a vehicle- THAT is annoying.

Nothing really 'broken' about it, but players shouldn't be able to use it as a cheap tactic to get kills.

It should be the same as it used to be. When the player disables passive they are vulnerable for 10 seconds before they can pull out a gun.

Be aware of your surroundings then. I've been caught out before but instead of blaming a perfectly fine game mechanic, I blame myself for taking my eye off the ball.

But wait, you're against players coming out of passive and killing you, yet you're perfectly happy to give someone a 10 second window where they can't defend themselves? Griefer confirmed.

You're out of your mind, mate.

There is nothing "perfectly fine" about the passive game mechanic because it can be used as an offensive tactical advantage. It defeats the very nature of even the name "passive."

The 10-second window isn't a griefer's paradise, but a defender's option. I've said it a thousand times on here: when I'm defending my bounty in a well-defended or difficult to reach area, without exception, someone who has attempted to kill me pops into passive mode, works their way towards me, and tries to come out. They're not using passive mode to try on new clothes or race cars with their boyfriends, they're using it to defeat an actual well-thought out defense strategy. If they use passive mode to walk passed a series of traps, or access an otherwise inaccessible-without-getting-shot location specifically to get a kill, I should be able to blow them away when they come out passive mode.

When you tack on the folks flying around in Savages and Hyrdas in passive mode, popping out and instantly gunning you down, you have a whole lot of explaining to do calling someone who doesn't think passive should be a tactical gain a "griefer" when its the actual griefers taking advantage of it. So, by your incredibly moronic logic, I must be able to confirm that you're a griefer by being "perfectly happy" to let someone hover in a Savage and mow down folks immediately upon exiting passive mode, fly away and re-apply passive in 60 seconds.

Passive mode, frankly, does not need to exist. If it must exist, it should come with penalties for the user. There should be a determined about of time they must stay in passive, and a substantial amount of time between when they exit passive and re-enter it. In all reality, there should be a limit on where people can come out of passive mode - in their apartments or garages, or at police stations - and that would solve the whole problem right there.

Guy with a Beer

The post above hits exactly on how I feel about passive mode.

I too am sick of it being used as an offensive weapon. It has gottent o the point where if I have a bounty and somebody goes passive on me to beat my deffences then I simply start a job and wait for a minute or two in the mission lobby then quit and hope they have left.

There should be only limted places to come out of passive.

First off I would set a minimum time limit for passive mode (say 10 minutes) after which point you can deactivate it where you stand.

If you wish to come out of passive mode earlier, then you should only be able to do it from the following.

1. Your appartment

2. Any LSC, and have it as an option when you exit.

3. Inside any building where you can shop (ammunation, clothing stores, convience stores or strip club for instance).

4. At the completion of a mission (not by entering a mission lobby then quitting, but after actually completing the mission)

5. During any gang-attack

the invulnerability during countdown is an improvement in my opinion

reason being that when i'm in passive, it means i'm not in the mood to entertain some braindead deathmatch junky- and it definitely doesnt mean i'm in the mood to have some cancerous mime following me around, spamming combat rolls with his little pea-shooter aimed at me. so i can exit passive, surprise them with a shotgun to the chest, quickly get in a car and go on about my business

old passive mode was garbage because if you came out of it to defend yourself, you just became an easy kill for some nerdy K/D obsessed douche.

those getting killed by people exiting passive mode should know better than to hover around someone who appears harmless but can bring an auto-shotty out at any time

just my view on that

The problem is, most people taking advantage of the "surprise, the countdown timer is up!" feature aren't people minding their own business. They're aggro-tards who kill kill kill until they lose their advantage; then they go passive, wait til the enemy isn't paying attention, and turn it off for another cheap kill. At least guys like you have the option to just stay passive.

Unfortunately games often have to be designed to protect us from the worst and most exploitative abuses of the worst segment of players. The people using the feature as intended get caught in the crossfire a little bit. Unfair, but there you have it.

Nailed it.

People play like scrubs these days. RPG, sticky, sticky....Stir up a hornets nest. Go to Passive.

Isn't that how it already is? What they need to fix is the blip on the person that is in passive mode. Passive mode should show that passive mode sign and disabling passive mode should make the blip flash quickly. When passive mode is finally disabled it should show the normal dot.

This^

All too often I'll get in a fight with someone to find out after they rpg me they went into passive mode even though the (do not cross) symbol is nowhere to be found.

I agree partially. Why are they scrubs because they want to use explosives and guns that they EARNED to kill people. You are limiting yourself by not fighting fire with fire and that's for anyone that complains about ppl using stickys/rpg/minigun. You have one also use it. They part I completely agree with is the assholes that do "stir up a hornets nest" and go to passive. If you just killed someone you should be able to go to passive for like 20 seconds. I know the feeling of getting strafed by jet then he dies and the first thing he does when he re spawns on ground is go passive that bum deserves to die.(in game of course)

RPG/Sticky takes very little skill. I don't usually engage fighting unless really bored, or someone is teaming up on friends.

Free aim unfortunately is littered with people that have absolute garbage connections, so most PVP/Gun fights are pretty bad. (I'm looking at you HueHueHueBR).

I've said this so many times I ought to put it in my signature really, but here goes...

Passive Mode should have its own lobby - you either don't mind the fight or you don't want it - stop f*cking about using it as an bullsh*t advantage

Passive should work like this.

Passive mode makes all NON passive players and their PVs `GHOSTS`.. But you can still shoot everything else.. AI and non PVs

I think its stupid that passive mode makes everyone ghosts... including other passive players. And you can`t shoot.

Ghost mode should only tie in with players non in the same mode. Passive should mean all passive players see other normally.

Friendly lobbies would fix this. Separate the trolls, rapper wannabes and griefers from the people just mess with cops and have a good time.

I know private lobbies exist, but I think it would be nice to have events like car meets and things more often publicly.

I just want to be able to drive around in a public lobby without some guy shooting me through the windshield. Why does passive even disable if you're in a car anyway?

Cliff the lawyer and guy with the beer hit the nail on the head.

I like to kill players and prefer to almost never use passive unless I'm simply fooling around. If you don't wanna fight me, go passive and ignore me. It's that simple.

But, when the 3 people I have been fighting all go passive, get savages or hydras, and hover around me in passive waiting to get the cheap kill I am unfornutely FORCED to use passive to combat this.

Maybe passive mode should have a 2 or 3 minute timer or something AFTER you come out of it instead of 10 seconds. For instance, if I were to come out of passive, I should have to be out of passive and vulnerable for at least 2 minutes before I can use any weapon

Or, like others have suggested, only being able to leave passive in designated areas and/or being stuck in passive for at least 5 minutes once you activate it. And definitely fix the effing blips on the map to accurately reflect passive mode even/especially in vehicles.

Maybe none of these solutions are perfect but at least it's something. R* doing nothing about it it pretty fukt and definitely unacceptable

Use passive religiously. A great addition to PS4/XB1. Have never once used it to grief tho (honest :) ) On saying that I ain't killed anyone in GTAO in about 3 months so I suppose that's the reason. 3 Months in passive and I've never enjoyed playing more. Let passive stay, stunters FTW.

All I need now is a few full lobbies instead of LS being virtually a ghost town except for NPC's. It's still nice to see real ppl around LS tho.

What passive should be:

- you can not harm or be harmed by other players, like in missions/heists + not able to run over people/be run over by people

- your vehicle can not harm or be destroyed by other players

- you can not destroy vehicles used by other players

- other player's vehicles can not harm you

- vehicle restrictions also apply to vehicles abandoned by players (until they get into another vehicle) or PVs not used yet

- neither of the above applies to NPCs

- long cooldown period when switching from one mode to another, say 5 minutes

I really don't get it how someone at R* looked at the passive mode on LG and said: "yep, that's perfect!" That's either extreme stupidity or extreme trolling

I have been playing GTA online on XB1, and lately you go to in any session, you see half of the players in Passive mode (invisible)why is that? what happened to the online fun of attacking players having shootout ?

You literally wrote the answer to your question. They don't want to get into a shootout. When I'm in public sessions, I'm normally in Passive Mode unless I start to help a low rank who is getting griefed.

The answer clearly is that they are totally scared of you. They know your reputation for prowess in a gunfight so when they see you enter the lobby they immediately switch to Passive Mode for fear of dying many times over.

I always go on Passive Mode if I'm in public, because I know half of the players, most of them being 12-year olds, will always kill me, send a mugger on me, call a mercenary on me, etc etc. for sh*ts and giggles. I can only bet they're spending their IRL money on Cash Cards so they can spend nothing but ammo, just to cause trouble on innocent players.
