sagsf420
I understand that the damage was toned down in many ways for next gen obviously for reasons like first person mode but I just realized that vehicles no longer lose their wheels when struck from the side. Is there actually any reason for this or did they just do it for the sake of downgrading things? Is there any chance this might be fixed with a patch? emelen
I'm still seeing vehicles losing their wheels, also with better front and rear deformation.. And yes, this is on the PS4..

GtaFanatik
I figured out that only NPC cars loses their wheels if you crash them from the side (going directly to the wheel) at top speed. the capacity to lose your own wheels seems to be completly cut from the CG versions.. See I haven't even seen an NPC vehicle lose it's wheels. On the flip side I've never lost my own wheel on last gen but I saw lots of NPC's lose their wheels. Although I do find certain aspects of the damage system have been upgraded other aspects have been downgraded, I'm starting to think the wheel thing may have just been a mistake on R*'s part but who knows... S1N0D3UTSCHT3K
this shows the player car losing its wheels getting hit by a train... it's from damage not from explosion but you're right about highway crashes go to the end of this one about 7:20 or 5:40 of this one i crank a couple cars pretty damn hard in heavy trucks at highway speeding speeds, and absolutely crush their front end corners... bend the wheels and axles pretty deep inside the car but the wheels stay intact.... wheels used to fly off more easily before wiizardii

Come to think of it wheels seemed to come off too easy in last gen, it seemed like the smallest little tap would knock em off. Now it seems to require more force. S1N0D3UTSCHT3K
no no i think you still right.... mostly i mean, my first example, the car lost it's wheel from damage (not an explosion) but it was un-drivable last gen, cars used to lose their wheels when they were still drivable... i mean, that 2nd video... if that was last-gen, that Canis/Jeep would have lose its wheel, but the driving would still keep driving... i mean, i'm sure we all remember many times on the highway where we would hit someone, their wheel would fly off, but they would still try to keep driving haha and it would look so funny and futile but on new gen... sure yeah i showed an example of a wheel coming off from damage once a vehicle was un-drivable but what about when the vehicle is still drivable? those 2 other examples I showed, at least one of those (or even 10% of the time for similar crashes) the wheel should come off... and yet it doesn't really happen anymore... it's a good observation. i almost sort of forgot how common it was.. i'll try do so more tests and see if I can find new-gen examples of wheels getting destroyed off the car AND it still be drivable by the NPC (or me) but i don't even know if it really still happens
S1N0D3UTSCHT3K
I was able to get it to happen once I spent about two hours speeding up and down the freeways in dump trucks, garbage truck, semis, dukes of death, etc and that was the only time it happened few times I got popped tires... got bent wheels and axles often that would no longer turn... but just one time the entire wheel actually came off so, it can still happen but certainly isn't very common
