muddeprived
I have a HP 2511x monitor with an AMD Radeon HD 5570. I recently started noticing faint fuzzy-type lines going up on the screen, sorta like when you see a computer monitor on a tv show. You see those lines going up or down on the monitor. They aren't really going up but kinda vibrating in their position and sometimes moving. I thought it was interference with something so I moved everything away from the monitor and computer and no change. Any ideas what it is? Bad monitor? Bad Video Card? Something else? yoječ
Are you using a VGA or DVI/HDMI connection? If VGA, then I'd check the cable first.
muddeprived
Yeah it's VGA. I'll try HDMI.
muddeprived
I switched to HDMI cable and all is good. Thanks Yojo.
Andreaz1
Why would you be using VGA in the first place if you had both DVI and HDMI available?
muddeprived
Why would you be using VGA in the first place if you had both DVI and HDMI available? Why not? It came with my 24" monitor. But anyways, got another problem that recently popped up. There are purple-pinkish blobs on the screen when watching videos. They don't appear at all times but you'll notice em every few scenes. So i had fuzzy lines with the vga and now colorful blobs with HDMI.
TheMcSame
Why not? It came with my 24" monitor. VGA is an old connector, it might support higher resolutions but you loose out on quality (signal needs to be converted from analogue to digital) and possibly high refresh rates. I also think you mean 25" VGA is a last resort connector for most people, tbh it should only be used if it's the only thing available to you. Anyway, make sure the cable is properly connected at both ends, if the problem persists then I'd try DVI-D (or do the below). If it still occurs then try another display or try the onboard graphics. It also wouldn't hurt to try a second cable if you have one lying around. Edited May 29, 2015 by TheMcSame

I'm not real anal about which cable is used for my monitor since I don't do much gaming or run graphic-intensive programs. It didn't help that I used up all my HDMI cables with all the other tech crap I own. I stole this HDMI cable from my retired 360 (just bought PS4). I'll try swapping HDMI's and dig up my DVI cable to try. I haven't seen my DVI cable since I switched from that 80-lb 32" flattie to the first of my three 50" plasmas. I'm betting it's on the bottom of one of my many tech-stuff boxes.
muddeprived
Well turns out it's the monitor. I moved my PC to the 50" flattie and PS4 to this monitor and the same purple coloring is all over the place. No matter what system or cable I run it's there. I guess my monitor is dying. I love excuses to upgrade.
