Marvel's the Defenders-Daredevil-Luke Cage-Jessica Jones-Iron Fist

[Misunderstood]

I went into this second season pretty scared. The trailers were good but I just didn't think it could live up to season 1. Boy, was I wrong. I have to re-watch it again to truly decide but season 2 is at the very least equal to season 1 if not better.

 

 

 

 

Shane, I mean, Jon was f*cking amazing as the Punisher. He was f*cked up and I never knew where his character was truly going to go (as I've never read his comics and know next to nothing about him). At one point, I thought he was going to redeem himself. Then I thought he was going to die or some sh*t, I don't know. Luckily he survived and he's getting his own series which is gonna be f*cking amazing. No complaints on his character. I was also worried when they had him in custody before they really even reached the midway point but they managed to still keep him interesting by having him interact with Matt's side and Nelson and Page. The trial was great and I loved this character. Rooftop chat was one of the best scenes of this whole season.

 

When I saw Wilson Fisk, I was worried but again, they blew me away. He doesn't take the front stand this season but you can still see he's making and impact and slowly gaining back his power. Fisk didn't a f*ck either, beating down on a blind man in a f*cking prison. And working with Shane, I mean, the Punisher just to betray right after was so f*cked but oh well.

And Lol, how many people is Matt gonna let know his secret identity.

 

We got Claire, Elektra, Stick, Nelson, the priest and now Page knows. God damn it, Matt.

Fisk in season 1, Kilgrave in JJ and Franky Castle in season 2, I really hope Luke Cage steals the spotlight in his show and not a secondary character

Matt and Fisk in the prison was one of the amazing scenes in this season. When Matt Threatens Fisk it was badass, but then Fisk beat him up LOL

I loved it; not as much as season one, but it was pretty fun all around. And the suit is a zillion times better.

 

I was a little frustrated by the way the show forcefully keeps us in the dark in regards to the supernatural stuff. Feels out of touch with the larger MCU - which I can understand the rights issues must be insane tot ackle - but even the Netflix-centric MCU.

I feel like the supernatural stuff was kept vague because Matt still doesn't completely take it seriously.

Also:

Frank in the prison hallway > every other fight scene.

 

Probably the most Punisher thing on film.

Okay, first real Defenders news: Shooting is set to begin and the "End of this year." Charlie Cox stated this in an interview where he also said he "didn't know if there would be a season three" which is as laughable as the line "Jon snow is dead."

I really need to read some Punisher stuff.

But every time I try, it's either;

A. The art is terrible.

B. It's some origin story where he's like in Vietnam or whatever.

 

How hard is it to find a good Punisher comic where the art is good and not an origin story?

Go read the first Punisher ongoing. Vol 2, I believe. Klaus Jansen is the artist. And it has minimal origin. It's more about the origins of why he's the Punisher, meaning his family's murder, his killing of those directly responsible, where he gets his weapons and truck, and also his relationship with Microchip, who is hinted at in the end of Daredevil season 2.

 

That said, it's not as gritty as later Punisher stories (still pretty dark), the art is a classic late 80s/early 90s style which might turn you off, but it's not bad.

I dont even hate the third one. Fight at the end was decent. Ryan Reynolds was hilarious. They did f*cking kill Whistler, which wasnt cool, but its not a terrible movie.

Was having a quick look at the Luke Cage page on Wikipedia and noticed all the episodes are named after Gang Starr songs. Hopefully this bodes well for an awesome soundtrack. We'll find out soon enough, just over 3 weeks to go.

I feel like him and me have a similar feeling that I try to look at the good stuff in a movie more than the bad stuff. By that I mean we both seem to like a lot of movies that everyone else hates.

Watched the first couple episodes of Luke Cage.

 

They've done it again. Another show with a very distinct atmosphere, and charm of its own. Just like all of Marvel, they're good at picking the right genre for a show, and building the story and characters around it.

Four episodes in. It took me three episodes to figure out that Alfre Woodward wasn't playing her same character from Civil War. But the part where Luke is wearing his classic costume was great. "You look like a damn fool".
