Bernthal is the best live action Punisher. He's crazy, but sympathetic. A murderer, but not of the innocent. And of course Bernthal himself is a force of nature. So far, the Elektra story seems like it's dragging on. Hopefully in this episode, it comes together. One last thought. darthYENIK Posted March 20, 2016 Share Posted March 20, 2016 I just finished myself... Overall, I felt it was a much more emotional season than the first. And really dove into what really makes a hero. Is Daredevil's way really better? He doesn't kill, but his enemies return, like Fisk and Nobu. Is Punisher's way better? He kills, his enemies "stay down", but it costs him his humanity, and makes him a villain of sorts. This has always been my favorite theme of these two characters. They're two sides of the same coin in a way, but couldn't be more different. It's just such a juicy concept. Bernthal is Frank Castle, as much as in season one I felt that Charlie Cox is Matt Murdock. I can't wait for a Punisher show. When Frank busts open the picture frame and pulled out the CD that says "Micro", I got really giddy. What does it mean? I know who Microchip is, but what does the CD mean? Is it a message from Micro? Anyway, the thought of Punisher setting up shop is too much. At this point I want to see that more than any of the Defenders. If I get to see the Punisher Van, I'll flip my sh*t. And FINALLY! All I can say now is... Clancy Brown played Frank Castle's SO. So yes... Lex Luthor was the Punisher's SO. f*ck yes. And then he's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack. I just finished episode 8. AlienTwo Posted March 20, 2016 Author Share Posted March 20, 2016 I have a confession: 2 days before the season dropped I clicked on an article titled "I just watched Daredevil Season 2 and this is what I think." I won't get into details but all in all the reviewer thought that the magic was gone, the story was forced and the scenes with Punisher and Daredevil were preachy and uninspired and the whole story really dragged in the middle. Just finished the series. That reviewer either watched a different Daredevil Season 2 or they are just un-damn-pleasable. I loved this season so much and I am so excited to watch it again just to find the Easter eggs. I thought the action was amazing, the story really creative and drew me in and costumes were amazing. Realistic and believable with enough "Superhero" punch to really satisfy my inner nerd. Can't WAIT for Luke Cage. And those speeches between Big Pun and Red? Come on man, he was almost out the door but you had to keep talking I finished Season 2 yesterday and I have to say Jon Bernthal nailed it as The Punisher - Thomas Jane was good but I think Jon is the best Punisher so far. Episode 3, 4, 8 and 9 where brilliant with him in it. He stole the show in every scene he was in. I wasn't too much of a fan of Elektra, all though it's fair to say I'm not really interested in her character in the comics - however the mythos of The Hand and subsequent groups is really good and I'm just wondering if it all ties into Iron Fist. Overall, I'd say it's been a fantastic season. I'm not really sure if it beats Season 1 - but I'm going to re-watch both to get a better view on Season 2 as a whole. Here's Daredevil rocking a Hitler mustache. God damnit... Who did the lighting? EDIT: Well, I finished it. I've never binged anything. The bingiest binge I've ever binged. 8 episodes in one day! Jesus Christ! AND I LOVED ALL OF IT! Fuuuuuuuuuck Punisher was amazing. I immediately want more. I would gladly have them delay the Defenders another 6 months just to get a Punisher show, that's how f*cking amazing he was! Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiisk. Fisk came baaaaaaaaack! Thank f*cking Christ! Oh my god! You know what I liked about this season? It was the only superhero show that made being one seem amazing but didn't make me wanna be a superhero. Matt Murdock literally threw away his entire life just to be Daredevil. He cut off his friends and his 'love' (Meh) just to be Daredevil. It was depressing seeing him ignore his personal life more and more just for a higher cause. When Darcy said that the DA people were gonna go after Jessica Jones, and then 'the horny one', I just went "So, Jessica Jones again?". I have so much more to say but it's all colliding in my head in a big ball of awesomeness. One thing that was really random, was the very brief child Matt scene with his mother(?). It happened right after he got shot in the head, and so when I saw a nun calling him Matty... I fully expected a Born Again type reveal where he asks her if she's his mom, she denies it and he grins from ear to ear, knowing that she's lying. I just found that moment to be amazing. I'm so happy this show doesn't waste its villains. Jessica Jones killed off Killgrave, who was arguably better than Kingpin. But now Jessica Jones season 2 can't pull a reveal like episode 8 did, NOW CAN IT? I can't wait to see a post-Defenders season 3. Just have him go up against Bullseye and Tombstone (They got Spidey back, so f*cking use him!) and Silver Sable's dad. Just these characters. I love the mob storyline more than I love the immortal ninjas storyline. But I ended up loving both. It's funny, how this show somehow managed to seamlessly convert from an underdog fighting his way up the criminal underworld to get to one major don of crime to him fighting immortal ninjas brought back from the dead. But most of all. I would have said the fight coriography took a hit, but then I realized... When people have guns, they fire those guns at the people who don't have guns. So f*ck you, Arrow. This show is leagues better than the standard for the genre. And any given episode of this show is better written, has better characters and more action that all of Iron Man 3. I read a review before watching the show. It said that the charm was gone, and that the show 'just isn't the same without Vincent D'Onofrio as the Kingpin'. It gave it a rotten review on RottenTomatoes. That's right, an actual reviewer, who gets paid by a real company for his reviews, said this season sucked because it didn't have the Kingpin in it... Turns out you don't need to review the show to review it... You just have to blow spit bubbles with your mouth and get paid. Jon completely stole the spotlight.Kinda spoiler. Was anyone else a little shocked by the gore this season ? They really went above and beyond with it this season. They MUST make a Punisher series. Or have him show up in Civil War LOL the end though, did Daredevil really intend on killing Nobu just like that ? And damn Punisher just showed up killing those ninjas was awesome.
