IDredMan Posted December 2, 2015 Share Posted December 2, 2015 Can we just talk about Killgrave for a second here? Cause it's really starting to feel like I'm the only one who sympathizes with him. I mean, I believe that no one is too far gone. I believe that, had Jessica decided to stay with him, he would have ultimately done enough good, not to erase the bad, but to make it worth it. I can't be the only one who thinks that, if Killgrave just straight up compels people to solve all the world's problems, it would mean that the bad stuff would have been worth it. If Batman keeps his demented villains alive, knowing full well that they're never be valued members of society, then Killgrave, who saved 4 lives and the only reward he wanted was a chocolate cake with a strawberry on top, should be allowed to redeem himself. And, rewatching JJ, I've noticed something. Something missing that made Daredevil absolutely beautiful. The lighting in Daredevil was f*cking spectacular. Look at this... The lighting is brilliant! Every single scene in Daredevil looks like a painting. It doesn't at all matter at which point you pause an episode of Daredevil, the screen will look like art. It made Daredevil literally gratifying to look at. So not only were the story, acting and action great in Daredevil, but it was also a physical pleasure to look at the show. I really hope they bring that back for Luke Cage and Iron Fist. And since I've already thrown 2 topics into one post, might as well make a 3rd one. A lot of people are worried about the Iron Fist show, because it might not, and probably will not fit in with Netflix's gritty stuff. But I'm more worried about Luke Cage. So far, these Netflix shows have highlighted the villains, and they've been adapted well from the comics. I mean, Daredevil has Kingpin and Bullseye. Jessica Jones has Killgrave and Brian Michael Bendis, Iron Fist has Steel Serpent (Who is, I will admit, a little generic) and Luke Cage has... Bitter Hanukkah? f*ck if I know. I was a little disappointed with the final episode though. I feel the cameo was forced and I just can't see the motivations for her actions. Conversely, I thought the final episode of DD was the best piece of TV I've seen in years. From the opening with that perfect choice of music, (gotta love Jimmy Cliff) right through to the final scene, I just thought it was brilliant. Overall though JJ wins for me all because of Kilgrave. What an amazing character! Started off hating him, then that scene in the police station at the end of ep 7 just blew my mind. He's never had to grow up, nobody could teach him right from wrong. He's basically remained a 10 year old his whole life. Of course his actions are evil, but his resposibilty for his actions is to my mind debatable. The writers of the show need to be applauded for taking a fairly unremarkable villain (purple man) and changing him into something that raises many pertinent questions about how we treat child criminals and child murderers in our legal and penal systems. Also, it's nice to see him bending his leg in that costume. It looked so tight in the finale... It looked (And according to Charlie Cox, it definitely was) too tight to move a muscle. They had Captain America releasing right next to BvS, and people were saying BvS was gonna blow it outta the water, then they announced it was gonna be Civil War, people changed their minds and DC changed the BvS release date. And if garbage like Arrow keeps getting renewed, then TV shows have very low standards, and nothing's ever gonna get cancelled. Unless JJ season 2 comes after the Defenders...
