cant remember Posted April 13, 2015 Share Posted April 13, 2015 Sometimes I think higher resolutions look worse because you can more clearly see where the details stop. eg. I never noticed it on consoles in GTA4, but now on PC it is extremely noticable that cars don't have occupents until they get close, you suddenly see the driver pop in. It's quite distracting lol. Arya35 Posted April 13, 2015 Share Posted April 13, 2015 1440p is probably the best target to aim for, but imo, it's still not worth the price for gaming as the only benefit is that you can have a larger screen with slightly higher ppi than 24inch 1080p. Ips is probably more important, having a 4k tn panel ruins it as the colours would just be terrible, and 4k ips is just so expensive. Stick with 1080p ips, don't go tn unless you want 144hz, but it will make games look bad, so I only use my 144Hz monitor for cs go, and would stick to 1440p on more casual games like battlefield, cod, gta. 4k 60fps is entirely possible with dual titan xs, just wait till the 390x for it to be more affordable. But do I personally see a big enough difference to upgrade? No. Hell, even 720p with good AA and motion blur is still passable for me. And I think people underestimate this kind of stuff. Around this time 5 years ago, most people were still adjusting to 1080p displays on their TVs; this is just technology advancing. Come 2020-2023, 8k or even 10k HD will be the standard and 4k will be a thing of the past. Nothing overrated about a game company optimizing their product to run with the times. You do realize how long it takes for 1080p to be adopted by mass market as a successor to 720p? Do you realize how long it takes for 16:9 screens to surpass a 4:3 screen? 4K will not be mainstream within 5 years. 1080p content is still lacking, so 4K content is definitely extremely lacking. How much money do people need to shell out for a 2160p60 capable system? That's right, over $1000. That is using US prices. Count worldwide inflation, third world countries. I mean, even people here in my country, a freaking G20 major economies member with 4th most populated country, are having problems with broadcasting 720p through digital TV. FilipCRO Posted April 13, 2015 Share Posted April 13, 2015 I dont have a 4k screen, and I have a GTX 970 GPU that isnt very capable for 4K gaming...so I am more than happy with 1080p in max details But after some time (2-3 years), like everybody said, 4K will become a standard and I will buy a 4k screen and a better gpu... All I see are dreadful pixels and aliasing everywhere. 4k is a god send for my eyes. The haters will hate because they don't have. Once they acquire, their stories will change like the true hypocrites they are. 4k is better, hands down, there is no discussion about it. It's like comparing a 2015 Ferrari to a 1995 Ford Escort, the Ferrari is better, hands down, no discussion, but those who don't have the Ferrari will jealously justify in their tiny minds why their Escort is better.
