ClaudX
I'm pretty sure this falls under cherrypicking. Which is another way of saying "are you really serious?". I love the fact that the OP shows a picture of a shootout in Vice City. There's plenty of shootouts in V, so it doesn't help the point. This is simply a thread to complain about Yoga. ClaudX
So one minigame has made the entire company soft? This. Just because V's story may not stand up to the mood that IV set, it's automatically bad. Too many people have that mindset. V isn't a horrible game on its own. The comparisons to IV are what put it into bad light. Have people thought that Rockstar wasn't trying to make something identical to IV? Sawnek
It's a little silly to make that comparison because you can reverse it. You could deliver pizzas in Vice City, but does that mean Rockstar Games have always been soft? Of course not. Homemade Dynamite
In one way, yes. They went from having minigames about crime to minigames about playing golf, tennis, and investing in stocks. Zello and theGTAking101

I can kind of agree with this, though they could have spun the stock investing into more of a criminal affair.
kraftwerkd
No, they just didn't want to do what all game franchises fear; stagnate and become repititious. The yoga is whatever, you play it once during the main campaign and you don't need to do it again unless you want that sweet sweet 100% (I think?). Having said that though, I'd love a DLC on Frank's early years as a gangbanger; getting into gang shootouts, robbing houses and boosting cars. Bring some of that gritty SA gameplay back, but with the RAGE engine and first-person, it would be absolutely glorious. Sure, we've all done it before, but we've got to admit that it would be pretty kick-ass in an updated style. The only additional point I'll add is - Lamar Davis. Actually, it isn't necessary for 100% completion. Since Franklin is the only protagonist who survives in all endings, only his side-missions contribute to 100% completion. Osho
Focusing less on crime related activities, freeroam mayhem possibilities ( by removing certain weapons like chainsaw, etc ) and more on the boring real life simulator, additional restrictions to keep the players from performing any action that would affect the world around not intended by the designers ( may be for technical reasons or concerned with any controversy ) then sort of, uh.. yeah, does feel like they are simply interested for better, detailed, and stunning open worlds without having much of those 3D era style freedom to allow whatever tickles your fancy without Rockstar throwing any objection to it! That's why I get bored too soon, and more often playing through their crap modern set of rules and restrictions. Not even modding isn't as easy nor as accessible as the 3D games offer so much variety to improve the games potential. It also applies pretty much many other AAA games too. Old is still gold. Algonquin Assassin
There are many things I don't like about GTA V, but being soft isn't one of them IMO. Infact it's as raw and edgy as the other GTAs. Yoga is a sh*tty activity, but blaming one sh*tty feature doesn't mean they've gone soft. combustion
No they haven't. You have to torture a guy in a mission, how does that make R* soft? Killing with the rain gun/hatchet or the mini gun isn't soft too. And the lines of the protagonists are not soft too. But yeah, the yogo doesn't seem necessary, as the game is GTA and it just seems out of place.
American Viking
The author obviously picked pictures that fit his narrative. In the 3D era, the blood and gore/controversy were done in a video game/child esque way, whereas in the HD era, they've tried to add context to the absurdity. lastmanonearth
we can deliver innocent people to cannibals in V not to mention there's a torture minigame. It would be AWESOME if there was a torture minigame where you could kidnap random peds, take them to some basement and do whatever to them. Alas, you`re exaggerating the truth - it`s just one mission. Hell yes Rockstar has come down with a soft cock, not wanting to be sued no doubt by the equally oversensitive soft cock society that elects communists for president. Nico
I thought it was quite contrary, actually. Every game before SA had almost no swearing. Since SA you have a vast collection of N and F words. I'm not critizicing it, in fact swearing is very necessary to keep the low life atmosphere of the games. But I think OP point is just dull. PD: I'm not surprised to see another of Osho's "old is good" ranting posts. Edited April 14, 2015 by Nicolas Chiribelo The Dedito Gae 1 Did you see the frightened ones? lastmanonearth
I think the main reason it`s all gone downhill is that they made a new game based in SA which DIDN`T involve gangbanging missions / turf wars. The enemy don`t even pose a formidable threat and don`t attack unless you do first. No guns indoors?? Come on, that`s just stupid. And then there`s the yoga, to top it all off. MrDeSanta
OP, your post is moronic and decieving. You deliberatelly picked the most brutal photos from other GTAs and the most soft one from V. Now let`s see what we have in V; -hatchet, hammer and broken bottle + FP view -altruisters whom you can deliver the victims -a torture simulator where you can pull the guy`s teeth, electrocute him, hit him with the wrench and waterboard him and if he is dying then you just give him adrenaline shot right in the heart -you can do drugs (weed and peyotes) -f*cking railgun -watching Sanchez`s head get blown during the "wrap up" -dead bodies all over the underwater -dead body in the mine shaft -the creepy ghost on Mt. Gordo -Trevor himself -hang ten mission -mr Phillips mission (a sad and f*cked example but still) -graphic rampages -taser -proximity mine -rotweillers and pitbulls -crazy robocops who turn every chase into the f*cking bloodbath etc etc I could go on and on. And all you could find in V was that little yoga scene? Come on it`s pathetic and you know it. And all you could find in V was that little yoga scene? Come on it`s pathetic and you know it. Those are the pros, half of which don`t even appear on the OG versions, instead they were added just to sell the PS4/XBOne copies. I`ve never even heard of a laser in GTA. Anyway the cons are (at least on OG): No detachable limbs No territory wars, gang members only carry handguns No chainsaw No rigging car ignition bombs No sixth star military No fifth star FBI, even changing the FBI to FIB No guns in the house No enterable buildings where a shooting might be blamed on GTA influence (hospitals, burger joints, pretty much anywhere) No bloody footprints I mean, I could sit here and think over what else they removed for being slippery slope borderline lawsuit material but why bother, the fact is that there are a ton of cool things that were obviously removed for no other reason than legal bullsh*t. The torture scene was bold however, although I found the whole circumstances around it strange especially Trevor`s anti-torture rant at the end after just having tortured the guy. I question their motives for having that scene, it`s like trying to make some kind of anti-US government statement. Anyway none of that makes any difference since the point is that they`ve gone soft by removing all kinds of things that were common in the 3D era games. I think the reason is that they`re looking to sell to a wider audience now than when they were selling the 3D games, and some of the old stuff was too racy, or at least pissed someone off.
