Day One Patch Theory?

Now, this probably didn't deserve it's own topic (well that's what everyone will say anyway) but I wanted to tell people my theory, so I don't know if this has been happening to anyone else, but GTA V on Steam keeps updating every hour or so, the update only takes a few seconds but I think it may be downloading most of the day one patch so when the game is released, the people with so internet (like myself) will only have to download about a MB or something like that, let me know what you think because I thought it was a little suspicious that the game kept updating!

My game on Steam don't keep updating... Where did you get that?

It's probably not actually updating. just a bug on steam when you preload a game. It's trying to acquire the files so that it is ready to play but can't. Idk. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I've seen messages like this one with people saying the game is updating randomly everyday but nothing on my side

Didn't make me update anything since the the pre-load thing came out either.

Mine did download a few Megabytes the day after the pre-load date, but nothing since. It seems to check every day, but it downloads 0 data.

right click on GTA V then select manage downloads, you'll see the last time it did the update.

I disagree with the OP, as much as I would like it to be true. These updates aren't really updates but verification checks to make sure everything is still there.

This. Same thing happened with other titles such as Saints Row 4 and Assassin's Creed Unity.

If it downloads anything it will say so. If it says downloaded 0 bytes its just the client checking to see if its released yet. Its common with all preloads on Steam.

You can also check your SteamApps>depotcache folder and look at the modified dates of the files to see if anythings changed.

The checks have nothing to do with any patch unless they push more data to us and you'll know if that happens.

4 of my Depotcache files have been modified since the 7th. 2 On the 10th, and 2 on the 11th.

According to SteamDB the game was updated 2 days ago.
