Daily Objectives: tips and tricks

Recommended Posts

Bolatsi

Two of my friends started another characters. They ranked up to 15 and got dailies. They both got the "kill a player while off the radar". We entered a same car and I called Lester for off the radar. They killed each other while off the radar. Didn't work. Solutions? They are below rank 40 so they can't complete that daily?

^^ If I read what you wrote correctly, YOU called Lester for "Off the Radar"? If that's the case, it naturally would not work, since each of your friends themselves have to do that right before killing someone--not you. Your going off the radar has zero effect on their completing that objective.

Now, if both your friends could call Lester and had access to his "Off the Radar" service and kill each other (and the objective didn't work), then the objective is clearly buggy, and needs to be reported to R*. But at that point, it wouldn't be a level issue; only if neither of them had access to Lester's "Off the Radar" and yet were required to complete the objective would it be a rank/level issue.

It sounds to me like both of your friends were required to complete this objective that they simply could not do because they didn't have access yet to Lester's "Off the Radar" service. An epic fail on R*'s part in not thinking through the requirements of the objectives they're putting out there--especially to lower-ranked players.

I strongly suggest that each of your friends file a ticket with R* highlighting this glaring bug and oversight from R*:

It's high time this issue (and potentially other objective issues we may not have stumbled onto yet?) was fixed!

^^ Thanks for these; some thoughts on them though, as it appears you didn't read through the list of objectives you're addressing:

1. I don't support wall breaching, so I won't be adding this to the list. Jumping off the letter "V" on the VINEWOOD sign works perfectly (in my experience) and is 100% legit. But truth is, there are tons of ways to do complete "Parachute Dangerously" already in the list.

2. The "Fly under a bridge" that you imply is a standalone objective does not exist. "Fly under a bridge in an Air Race" is what you may be thinking of. Burn Your Bridges is already in the list.

3. The note about the free license plate is already in the list. Crew emblems are not free. They cost either $25k or $50k.

Yea, it seems to be like this. And I really have nothing to add. It's just that they were "off the radar" when they were in the car with me, but that was not enough for the daily objective. I don't know if you have it in your first post as a hint for lower levels, they said they had read it somewhere... But nonetheless at the moment it seems that one must be at least rank 40 to complete every one of the daily objectives.

edit. OK, read your first post, and the hint was not there. So I don't know where they've heard that...

^^ Hmm, if they were physically in the car with you, but neither showed up on the radar, then they obviously have access to Lester's "Off the Radar". So it appears to be a bug in the objective itself; not a rank issue (in this particular case).

What platform are you and your friends on?

They are below level 40, so they can't call Lester by themselves. And the daily objective worked fine for me, as I did it a couple of days ago. On PS4.

^^ If they're below the required level to call Lester to go off the radar, how did they go off the radar in the first place? (you claimed you couldn't see them?) My suspicion is that, being in the same vehicle with you, your icons were all overlaid on top of each other--looking like just one--but probably with a number "3" appearing (since there were three of you in the vehicle), indicating that three players are in one vehicle. That's how it works inside vehicles; it's one icon, but with the total number of players inside of it showing.

Anyway, just for reference, that objective will not work unless the player themselves calls Lester and requests to go off the radar. Period. No-one else can go "off the radar" on their behalf.

So the epic fail here is clearly the fact that R* is still sending daily objectives to players who are incapable of completing them (they should have fixed that by now--it's an obvious goof!)

Again, your friends need to file a ticket with R*, asking them to fix the bug, and also request some kind of compensation for their daily objective progress being reset because they obviously couldn't complete it.

Yea. They had the "Off the radar" -clock running in their screen while they were in a car with me. Both of them are veteran players, but just have their second characters at low level. It looked like they were off the radar in every way, when I called Lester and they were in a car with me, but it was not enough for the DO. I claim now that this is tested and doesn't work. So if a player wants to complete all the daily objectives (for example for 28 days in a row), one should be at least on level 40.

edit. I don't know if they are interested in contacting R*, but I'll inform them. I'm personally not into sending tickets, since the first time I tried to connect Rockstar in 2013 was just useless. Something really bad should happen for me to contact R*...

Regarding the Off The Radar Daily Objective issue from reading all the posts my understand of how it works is this.

Player Bolatsi was Off The Radar and had 2 other players Off The Radar at the same time as you were sharing the same vehicle, therefore

whoever paid for the service the other players in that vehicle get to use it for free, this also applies for Remove Wanted Level etc.

The proof is the report that when they exited the car Off The Radar was removed.

This is why they will not be given the Daily Objective because they have to pay Lester for the game to tick off the objective, now the only workaround

that you could try here would be see if those two players could achieve the objective by killing each other while in the vehicle with the player who paid

for Off The Radar.

It is most definitely worth reporting as a bug because a low level player should simply not be given the objective until it's unlocked for them.

Aha! (the light goes on) I've been aware of the "sharing" of wanted levels, but I had no idea it applied to "Off the Radar" (or was even possible)! :O Now I know; I wonder what other "services" being in the same vehicle can effect? In any case, that's an aspect of gameplay that could come in handy some day. :)

Bolatsi, my apologies for questioning what you encountered. These open world games can be pretty darn complex...I can certainly see then why your friends would try this in an attempt to complete the objective--clever! I wouldn't have thought of that...

tails, many thanks for the explanation!

now the only workaround that you could try here would be see if those two players could achieve the objective by killing each other while in the vehicle with the player who paid for Off The Radar.

I'm guessing it might only be possible if each of the players (taking turns doing this) plants a sticky on the car, then detonates it after everyone gets in and are Off the Radar (since i.e. to my knowledge, you can't shoot another person within the same vehicle--though would be a first for GTA if R* enabled it at some point). Be sure to test this theory using a generic NPC vehicle, and not someone's T20. lol

However, (like tails noted) I doubt this will work, as the objective seems tied to each person calling and paying Lester for the service themselves.

Yea, English is only my secondary language, so my posts might be hard to understand sometimes. Thanks tails for explaining it better.

All in all, it's stupid that they give a daily objective "kill a player when off the radar" to a player who is rank 23 or 18, like my friends were. There really is no way to trick the game when it comes to that level 40 restricted feature.

^^ Agreed! R* clearly didn't think through what they were implementing when they released Daily Objectives.

BTW, your English is much better than my Finnish. :) Your posts weren't confusing in what you were saying--you just told the truth; it was just another example of how complex GTA Online can be. :)

Try jumping from the Vinewood's letter D (on top of the letter is a parachute). Open your parachute instantly, and land on the right side as quickly as possible. I have always gotten it like that.

On this subject why is the parachute spawn random sometimes?

Sometimes I go up the ladder and it's there, sometimes not, does anyone know why that would be?

That always used to work for me, but now the only thing that seems to work is jumping off the "V"--but both can be touchy; it may take several tries if it doesn't do it right away. Pulling your chute right away as soon as you jump seems to be the safest and most reliable.

But having a helicopter sitting there is critical, since you get a new parachute every time you enter and exit the chopper. Otherwise, after two tries, you won't have any chutes available...

Unless someone else got it before you did (highly unlikely) and it hasn't respawned yet, I suspect it's just inherently buggy. :( (I know, welcome to GTA).

I had the most beautiful and priceless moment during my time of completing my daily objectives yesterday.

Collect A Bounty.

I was at Fort Zancudo, no PV out, steal a car off the bridge and hear the dread tingle on the phone $7000 bounty so I continue

driving back to town, get to the bottom of Martin's road at the Sentinal XS spawn point and call for Off The Radar to hide blip for

1 minute.

At this point there's a player dot just down the street from me so I check map and call bounty on the player, speed forward in the

Schafter and see the player's in the middle of the road, dead centre hit and flew over the car, dead - objective complete.

My house directly on the left at Tinsel Towers so duck in garage and preserve the bounty I had for myself to claim later.

Person must have been raging at what happened.

lol Once in a while those happen, and they're always a blast when they do (for you; not the person with the bounty). :)

If I get nailed while I have a bounty, I just share the love and put a measly $1,000 bounty on the person who killed me. Enough for them to be a target, but not enough to be worthwhile if they wait it out in an Invite-Only session.

Free Roam Objectives

  • Fall 325 feet and survive - Simply fly the highest you can in a plane/helicopter free fall as long as you can before deploying your parachute—ensuring that the objective counts the 325 feet. This objective can be completed from Parachute Jump game mode, providing it meets the objective requirement.
  • Parachute from 325 / 500 / 600 feet - Just take a plane/chopper and go as high as you can, which will take the guesswork out of the height required to complete this. It is unknown whether or not these work in a parachute race/jump. This objective can be completed from Parachute Jump game mode, providing it meets the objective requirement.
  • Parachute dangerously - Requires deploying your parachute
from the ground. Go to the "VINEWOOD" sign north of the city and climb to the top of the letter "V" (there's a ladder on the sides of each letter going up to the top). There's also a parachute up there if you don't already have one; simply jump off and immediately pull your chute. The letter "D"
for this, but may fail due to apparently tougher requirements R* implemented as of the Freemode Events update. You can also jump off the left building from the "Mixed up with Coke" construction site. Simply go to the north end of the roof, jump facing the deepest end of "the pit", and immediately pull your chute. (The construction site is on the road leading to the marina and chopper pad; the other side of the elevated highway behind the Alta Street apartments.) This also works for completing the "Pull a parachute 30 meters from the ground" objective below. This objective can be completed from Parachute Jump game mode, providing it meets the objective requirement. You may want to have a helicopter sitting nearby, as entering and exiting the chopper always gives you a free parachute. Otherwise, after two failed attempts, you'd be out of 'chutes.
  • Pull a parachute 30 meters from the ground - (see the VINEWOOD suggestion in "Parachute dangerously" above, which also works for this objective) OR go to the docks where you steal the car for the "Prison Break" Heist. Climb up the ladder on one of the overpasses, climb to the top, head down to where you're over the ship. CLIMB over the edge, and spam the open chute button. Note that "Ground" also means water, so you can parachute over the sea and pull your parachute at the last second without worrying about getting killed. This objective can be completed from Parachute Jump game mode, providing it meets the objective requirement.

I have a suggestion for any parachute or falling related daily objective.
Choose Rockstar Created Job, Parachute, Dropping In
Video:
This is a great job to complete any of the parachute or falling related objectives.
I have personally tested this job (many times) for all parachute and falling related objectives and have completed each one.
Dropping In has been my go to job for all parachute and falling objectives for a few months now.
The interesting thing about this job is that you can complete it in two ways:
  • Free-fall through all checkpoints and deploy primary chute on final checkpoint prior to landing (this will not satisfy the parachute from higher distances 300+ ft, but does check off the Fall from 325 feet and survive, parachute dangerously, and pull parachute 100ft / 30m off the ground)

  • Parachute as usual, remove primary chute on second last checkpoint, free-fall to final checkpoint and deploy secondary chute after passing through last checkpoint (this will satisfy all parachute and falling objectives, if performed correctly)

So how does this satisfy the parachute and falling objectives? I'll give you my take and experiences below:

Fall 325 feet and survive - This job starts at 300 metres (approximately 1000 ft), so as long as you land properly, you will complete this objective.
Parachute from 325 / 500 / 600 feet - Again, similar to above. You will be jumping at 300 m / 1000 ft. Opening your chute and landing properly will complete this objective for any of those distances.
Parachute dangerously - The final checkpoint before the landing mark allows you to parachute dangerously. Before the final checkpoint, you will be free-falling after removing your primary chute. Immediately after you free-fall through this checkpoint, deploy your secondary chute, land in the target area and you will complete this objective.
Pull a parachute 30 meters from the ground - Again, similar to above. 30 metres from the ground is approximately 100 ft. The final checkpoint in this job is about 30 m (100 ft) above the ground. Pull your secondary chute after you free-fall through the final checkpoint, land in the target area and you will complete this objective.

This sounds like a very strange/rare bug or glitch...

I've done it consistently, ramping into Fort Zancudo with a friend to steal jets. The only problem is the player who didn't call will get a wanted level when they are no longer with the other player in the shared vehicle.

Since wanted levels are shared when in the same vehicle, it really wouldn't work the other way, to nullify the service when the other player gets in trouble.

I think there are some bugs with daily objective reset, and with the 28 day count.

I missed a reset, when I entered the game through story mode, then creator, the exited to story mode. When I reloaded the game later in online, the active character's objectives did not reset. This character was on day 6, but when I completed the next day's objectives, I did not get the weekly bonus. This may be because of the next issue.

Now I think, but am not absolutely sure, completing a character's objectives within the hour after DO reset will cause the day count to reset. I play three accounts, but only one of them has the overacheiver platinum awards not completed, so I can really only monitor it on one account. If anyone can verify this, let me know. This is on PS4.

Yes, I've had some issues with one of my character's DO not resetting (two days straight, then it suddenly reset again), while the other one consistently reset just fine. I always just play as normal with both; not sure what caused it other than "R*"...
