By original do you mean Fraps or you final renders from Adobe (what format btw?)

My fraps footage for each project ends up in excess of 100gb so i always have to delete these after (but i keep all the rockstar editor clip and project data). My final renders are in lossless Quicktime animation codec which are quite large.

I know what you mean though about never knowing when you might need these again.

Never heard of or experienced that issue. Maybe a random occurence but quite possibly to do with one of the car mods like you say. Was this using OpenIV to replace vehicle files?

Nah by original I mean the actual GTA clip & project files. That way I can always move those back to the correct GTA folders, and go back to re-render them, edit stuff differently and what not. I still haven't recorded any preview footage with fraps or anything. But might give that another try.....couldnt keep a stable 60 fps with it, but if Im doing 30 fps that should be doable. File size might be tricky though. What file sizes do you get for the eventual upload? I ended up having a little less than 3 GB for the latest Traffickers, which with my internet here takes ages to finish uploading to youtube.

About the cars, yes I used OpenIV to replace the files. Everything worked fine in game, no issues. I added about 6 or 8 that I was trying out. So that is 6 or 8 video clips, 1 per car of me just driving for about a minute through the landscape. Like I said the first 2 or 3 were fine, no issues when checking those out in the editor. But after that.....boom...crashes. I'll investigate further, see if it is car related or not. Probably will do that on saturday though, but I'll keep you posted!

I render a Quicktime animation set to 100% lossless out of adobe which can be over 25gb for a 5 minute video at 30fps. 60fps will be more.

I use handbreak to encode a 100mbps MP4 for my upload to YouTube which can be anywhere between 3-5gb. It does take a while to upload but much longer to encode the actual MP4 if there are many different shots.

If you can live with 30fps stable then fraps is ideal imo (record to an ssd though, preferably one without the game installation on if you have two ssd drives).

I personally prefer the "look" of 30fps for anything that isn't me actually playing the game.

Good luck sorting your issues out. I'm always hesitant to install stuff that requires openiv file replacements for some reason. Having said that, the green screen mod required this and was incredibly useful. The existing prop is difficult to do full body shots.

Well there isn't really any risk in using OpenIV to replace files. You just have to use a mod folder which has copies of the files you wanna replace in it. If you replace them there, the game will choose those over the original game files, but you still got the originals in place. Simply choose to not load OpenIV and you're running the game vanilla again. Plus it doesn't hurt to extract files you're changing in a backup folder. Very little work which can safe a bit of time if you screw something up.

Couple of days ago I posted about some test footage including modded cars were making my game crash when I tried to play or edit it in the rockstar editor. Since all the footage recorded in that session from 1 moment on was making it crash, and non-car related test footage recorded in a seperate session that same day did not crash, I was pretty sure it had something to do with 1 of the car mods. I recorded new test footage again, for each car individually, same as before. This time, no crashes happened at all. In fact, I tried some of the files that were crashing before, and they worked fine too all of a sudden! Not sure how this got fixed, but it apparantly was related to rebooting the pc....strange....

Glad you got it fixed.

I've got to admit, it seems to be getting quieter in here now.I am hoping this topic doesn't lose momentum.

Not yet sure exactly what the plans are for next comp round.

You tried new menyoo Nucky? I am just finishing up an old project then I'm going to try it.

People are probably just working on new video's or competition entries (though new one hasnt started yet ofc). Doesn't seem "that" quiet does it?

But Menyoo, no didnt see there was a new version. Any interesting new features?

That does sound interesting. Did you see the sneak preview for Scene Director? For recording shooting and possibly combining it with animations?

No need to apologise AkLeMo. You run these brilliantly and I enjoy entering them but your decision is totally understandable.

I'm in two minds whether to put myself forward as a possibility to host these. I'm not quite sure i'd do it justice and it's a time commitment which is becoming an increasing issue for me.

I think i would also be tempted to roll this into GTAFilmClub and maybe extend rounds to Twitter followers too (or maybe not), but I think this might get some people's backs up as it is a GTAForums thing.

I think someone else / co-hosts would run it better. Maybe a hiatus might be good in order for people to work on their own unique projects for a bit. I know i have quite a few that need finishing up.

My suggestion if anyone else takes over would be to extend rounds to a month, giving more people chance to enter and work on their own projects.

My condolences to you mate.

Thanks SO much buddy, if you can Starky can do it at least minimally then rest assured there are a lot of people who would love to get involved. :)

I think everyone completely understands about the time its taken to get this one out, after whats been going on in your life AkLeMo. You don't have to apologise for that.

I do think that its a good idea for someone else, to take over hosting (temporarily though, so the thread doesn't lose momentum. As hot as a thread can be, they always die if they lose momentum. I think it's a good idea for someone to stand up and take control for a while, until you're ready to come back and get right into it again. You do a pretty good job AkLeMo, so I don't think anyone actually wants to take the job from you.

Thanks CKR! It was going well only because of all you guys and your amazing videos. :)

I understand you having to take a break AkLeMo ;) But it might be good indeed to keep the momentum going. How much I would like to enter each competition, I probably won't be able to do so for a little while now due to a lack of time. Still making machinimas though, so that is good. And I will keep posting here, looking at all the other vids and all that good stuff. I also would like to keep voting on the competition ;) So whatever you decide, I support it & will keep visiting here!

Thanks Nucky that means a lot. :)

As long as you keep doing what you love and people do it with you, it may be quiet out here but inside this screen will be a rush of awesome proportions to watch all these creatives. :)

Awesome guys. Congrats to everyone. There were some pretty good videos this round. Pretty cool I actually placed this time.

Just a small criticism. You gave me 5 pts, but in the scoreboard I only have 2 pts. Thanks.

ROUND EIGHT

ZENTtransp2.png

sj0umfbC4E2oPXkq9_VWdA_0_0.jpg

This will be a round with a lot of freedom...

The only rule is: a Zentorno must appear in your entry.

Do whatever you like... You are free to decide if you make

a short car commercial, a quick police chase, or something longer with a more complex story behind it.

Round Eight: ZENTORNO will end on March 20th, Sunday.

Best of luck to all participants!

Nice one Aklemo.

My earlier comment about it being quiet was not in reference to you or trying to hurry the last round announcement or anything, especially with what you've had to deal with. Hope it doesn't read that way.

It was just my own observation in general (which may have been incorrect). I was just thinking how to get the ball rolling again.

Thanks SirJohnnyStalk for providing the next round details for people. Sorry I havn't been on Skype today to discuss plans.

That's quite an open brief there, with many options to explore (plus it's a great car too). Should be a fun round.

Thanks guys. Congrats to Orazinho and all the other round 7 entries too. Got to say I'm suprised as AkLeMo's entry was awesome with great cinematography and feeling. Hope that's not the end of your GTA videos, but if it is, it was a great one.

Good luck to everyone for Round 8.

Well done to FixingGood and everyone who participated.

I hope that this thread doesn't lose any momentum, I've really enjoyed these competitions and it feels like one of the few places where you can get a discussion going. Sorry I can't help with much, hardly no time on my hands (work, other projects and baby!).

This was probably my last video on the playstation 4. I'm currently upgrading my pc and if everything goes as planned should have it ready in a week. Can't wait to play with those mods!

If not, I'll do one more on console.

@FixingG00D Thank you. I was gonna use another custom online character for Punisher but I felt Michael could fit the shoes nicely, considering he didn't need to wear the skull shirt.

Finding new or fresh interiors for my videos is becoming tough. It's a pity they've patched so many interiors on PS4/Xbox One.

Interesting topic. Might just be a quick entry for me this week... Actually all my entries have been quickly thrown together videos so far. Im too busy with my big project. Im also half way through recording an album too. Something thats been shoved to the 'to do list' since Director Mode came out. Woops.

Quick question - can Mike/Franklin/Trevor keep Zentorno in their garage? I haven't played single player in so long I can't even remember if we can get Zentorno on the single player :S
