I recently got GTA 5. Never really played it. My first video. Did it in about 2 hours.

Pretty much how I feel when I drive down the street. All my vocals on the rap track.

WARNING! Explicit lyrics, Ooooh wait, this is GTA V...nevermind.

Sick beats. :)

This is my entry for this round... I hope you enjoy it, altough it is a bit long :)

Title: "I will run to you"

Platform: PS4

Emotion(s): sadness

Love this, brilliant work man. :)

Music Video teaser of my sequel to Wanderer:

Can't wait to see it. :)

Epic! Quite honestly this has raised the bar. It might be one of the best videos made in GTA V that I have seen. That is an insane level of detail and scene staging, and then there is the camera movements. Wow. How long did it take if you don't mind me asking?

I noticed you mentioned something on twitter about considering doing a few tutorials. All i can say is that it would be invaluable. I have been trying to mimic similar cinematic camera movements and just can't get it right at all. Its frustrating as i have a few cinematic ideas that i can't yet pull off.

I honestly would consider donating something for your time and effort if you were willing to put together a tutorial covering advanced cinematic camera movements / settings in your Z series.

Whoa, surely that camera movement was done with mods right? Because if that's possible in the Editor then I need to learn how to do that.

This is just a simple video about the loveliness of some of the map.

Beautiful. I like how the rule of thirds was implemented into each shot. :)

Figured out around 75% of it. It's a combination of a few elements (in the way I'm experimenting)

1. Air Turbulence toned down highly depending on speed of movement, if slow then lower %, and vice versa,

2. Linear Transitions (So far one or two pans that required Smooth Easing)

3. Mimic of ground zero perspective (walking, running, looking, based on head movement more than body, plus pan speed determines speed of movement)

4. Depth of field (little impact but creates very intricate visuals)

I've implemented it in my entry as it requires it during a particular scene. Longest video I've edited so far, rendering has been going on for 30+ hours (for 10 minutes) soon to be edited into a shorter and better version. Coming soon. :)

Awesome, I like that you didn't add a soundtrack, heavy atmosphere here. Acknowledged :)

Thanks, man :) This took exactly a week, would've been less but I fell asleep 2 nights in a row working on it XD

Yea, still thinking of doing some tutorials / showcasing mods for Editor use (with short cinematic examples). Just taking a short break for the moment to work some things out.

No mods for the camera movement, just animated all within the Editor.

It's 98% use of Smooth blend, Linear was only used for shaky effect on one or 2 scenes. A good way to maintain consistent speed / illusion of walking or running to keep to more or less the same pace as a character (yourself) in the scene.

Cheers for the advice Duggly. Would you say that you use air turbulence shake mode the majority of the time? I'm guessing this is the best simulation of a camera pov shaking in a random way, where the other shake modes are too consistent, but for some reason it just never gels right for me. Maybe it's to do with my camera tracking / pacing (distance between markers).

Handheld set at level 7 & 100% (I think?) was used for almost all the shots with Smooth since not much else of the effects work terribly well with that blend. The rest is down to animating the movements yourself to amplify the "shakes"

Tilt your camera left or right a bit on frames, that helps a lot too. So one frame is tilted at 11 o'clock and then the next frame is tilted at 1 or 2 o'clock. You'll get a nice smooth motion that way :)

Nice one Duggly! I bet there must be many markers set in order to simulate that shake in any one scene.

I always noticed with the handshake is that it's always different when you replay a clip e.g it might bounce upwards at the start, but then replaying it, it will bounce downwards.

I reckon this really shows what is capable with the editor and mods.

Heh, yea the markers are pretty cluttered looking one some scenes but pays off when you see it in motion.

Handshake tends to be random, if you export the same clip twice then the camera will be different on both. Not big difference but enough that you wouldn't be able to do much keying or composition.

Well damn, that's impressive, and thanks for the tips (though I'll still be keeping an eye on your channel for a tutorial vid). I can't really understand why you don't have a few hundred thousand subs and more exposure from R* themselves, your GTA Z series is like my new favourite thing now (looking forward to ep 4 btw EDIT: ep 5 I mean), that series, when it's finished, should be on Netflix or something.

This one was made in reverse, basically. I was messing around with the Director's Mode until I realized you can use the Super Jump to jump off the Maze Bank without splattering yourself on the ground. Taking note of this, I made the ending first, then the rest, making a little dumb story. Karma's a bitch.

I noticed you put this on twitter

"As for me doing Editor tutorials, what you ppl like me to cover / show? Would you want my voice or text? Let me know!"

It would be amazing to see you cover how you did your camera tracking. I tried some experiments with smooth markers, animating these, and tbh i had a really hard time with it.

The speed of them would often ramp up or down between multiple markers, with or without easing, and trying to figure where the camera actually is positioned with smooth markers is hard, its not the same on playback as it is when paused. It kinda does what it wants lol.

For say a scene, would you add one start marker, then your final marker where the camera should end, then add all the inbetween markers to simulate the pov movement, offsetting the vertical height, and tilting to create that head bounce / shake?

....Basically, please help me, i'm sh*t at this :-)

Regarding your twitter Q, i'm sure most people would appreciate any tutorial, no matter if its text, voice or powerpoint.

As it's nearly Valentines Day and I keep seeing tons of fragrance adverts, I was inspired to do a perfume advert, following a similar path to LT Nuck's excellent Le Chien. I had so much unused material from the Marlowe advert.

Does the overall colour grading / brightness look ok or too dull? I wish the shadows didn't flicker like they do but that seems to happen on every shadow setting i tried in GTA V.

Haha nice one Mr Fix! ;) Did you use that lamp-prop you spoke about earlier for this video? To light the characters at night I mean? That annoying thing with the moving shadows you speak of, I have seen it happen to me before as well. Don't think there is much to be done about it. Something similar to that also happens when people go from 1 room to another within an interior, or move outside while first being inside. The lighting can completely change from 1 frame to another. Can work around that by cutting to another shot though.

Color looks good btw, especially in the beginning of the video during "twilight hour", very nice with the colors in the background, and on the actors. For the last part (1:53 etc), I would have done the lighting a bit differently. The top light is not really flattering for the Valentine's Day atmosphere :p Should work great for a Bond Villain though ;)

That's right, one method is to do a straight line first. Know where to start and where to finish but you don't necessarily have to do it like this either, you can plop in markers as you go too.

From there you can edit all in between and also change the position of where the camera is on the last marker.

For Smooth to properly work you need to have the next marker always set as Smooth. If it's Linear or None then you'll get the crazy nonsensical speedup, always have an extra marker set as Smooth for this.

The camera not matching up the markers is normal, lol. You just have to guess it really and sometimes over-compensate a camera angle so it appears normal on playback.

I am wondering....do any of you guys & girls do anything besides making videos to promote your youtube channels? Like the GTAFilmClub on twitter for example? (good job on that btw!) I've been getting a bit of attention since the first Traffickers video, a lot of very positive feedback. Thing is....it takes a while to make one of these Traffickers videos....so I feel like doing a bit more to keep people "fed" for lack of better words. Was thinking of linking an instagram to my youtube channel, where I can post teaser pics from the video that hasn't been released yet. Not sure how active or interested the youtube audience is for that though. No harm in trying though. Planning on doing a short recap video on Traf 1 + Traf 2, probably combined with something to refer people to a Traffickers Instagram.

Oh well anyways.....what I'm wondering about, anyone got experience with something along these lines? Any tips...advice...thoughts?

Thanks for the kind words Nucky and the constructive feedback. Yeah the lights were via props using menyoo to search.

I think your right about shadows. It's unavoidable AFAIK.

This promoting thing is very hard imo. There are so many videos being made by people. I think the main source of my views are from here which I really appreciate and keeps me motivated.

I am hoping rockstar eventually retweets some gtafilmclub stuff which should boost other people's exposure a bit. Gtafilmclub is slowly growing in followers each day.

One thing I had considered is doing preview twitter videos of 30 secs for the most enticing shots of a video.

They auto play in a twitter time line as a user scrolls to it (but not before which would be annoying). Maybe vines have potential too.

I reckon this with an embedded youtube or link could entice more casual viwers to come and watch stuff.

I always end up seeing people's stunting twitter vids in my time line so maybe it has potential. I think they are via twitter anyway. I never use the upload video function. I guess instagram, et al can do this too.

I might try reddit too.
