Kustom Crew Color Requests

Recommended Posts

The car in the photo I included was an actual stunt car from the show. It's not a replica. That means the color on it is not wrong.

If I had to pick one of your four samples as the color that's correct for the General Lee, I'd pick the bottom-left sample.

I know its an original car, but there were not many General Lee's painted in this shade of Orange, they were mostly Corvette Flame Red, but because they had to make many General Lee's for stunts they painted the car a similar Orange to previous seasons, both are correct colors but the Flame Red was more common amongst the many cars made for filming the show early on, they were then using the brighter Orange towards the end of the shows run.

As the show went on the builders of the cars became less consistent in making the car's color the same as the first versions were, which is why those who replicate this car now tend to paint it different shades of Orange, because there were many shades used which are all technically correct but the brighter Orange was used less frequently than the darker ones.

Ugh, not trying to derail this thread farther than it already has been, but this car is General Lee 1. The car shown doing the long standing world record jump shown in the intro to the show. It was restored using the build specs from George Barris. It is not red. at all.

lee-1-dukes-of-hazzard-charger_zpspoexmf

(it sold for $121,000 btw)

I'd be interested in a code that matches this car.

It's too bad that crew emblems change with your active crew, instead of remaining fixed forever like colors. I'd like to be able to have permanently an 01 like the car in the screenshot a few posts back.

I have played quite a bit with the crew paints now, and my personal conclusion is, that as long as we can't put on a pearlescent, and if you are not going for a specific paint - like the General Lee - and don't like the "neon-paints", then I don't see much point in doing it. If I am just trying to find a "nice paint" for a car, like a dark orange, I have yet to find a crew paint that I can't make look better with a Metallic paint with a pearlescent. I mean if you don't absolutely WANT a specific shade of a paint. A little hard to explain when your native language isn't English/American, but I hope you can see, what I mean.

But I will keep experimenting none the less :D .

^ ditto. Black and nearly black colors or super bright neons are the only reasons, anything in-between usually looks better with a combination of LSC paint. I'm not normally into the bright flashy style but I think some of the neons could be cool if only we had matching rims, it's an all or nothing kinda situation and all is not currently possible unfortunately. Looking forward to colored and maybe mirrored window tints too if that ever happens, the green tint is really cherry on top of some of the paint schemes. Allow us to change interior colors too, wasn't that possible with the low riders in SA? Oh yea, lace panel and flames too...

I am happy to see that I am not the only one with that opinion :D .

It puzzles me why we can't just get the option fully legal to put a pearl on the crew paints? I can't see what harm that would do.

Chrysler: Desert Rose 1956

#7F4F4F

RGB 127, 79, 79.

NEW METHOD: #7F4F4FAA

It looks more pink'ish in the picture than it really is. You can see that when you get it out in the sunlight. It's much more "creamy". The first crew paint I have made that I actually really like :) . I used this site: http://imagecolorpicker.com to pick the colour from the original paint code sheet (and made it darker of course).

Okay, it's certainly getting easier to find crew paints that I like - and the last two I have posted I actually really love. They are classics. I regret my earlier post. Crew paints can still look great eventhough we can't put a pearl on them. I really, really hate those over-the-top neon-paints that I see way to often when I play, but some people like them - and that's fine by me.

And "redoing" actual historic paints from colour codes is very exiting :) .

Can't put pearl on crew paints?? Why not, thats always worked. What you can't do at the moment (and its a long moment) is use the crew as a tint over whatever texture was on the car. Thats how it used to work/was supposed to work. But pearl.. That works.

No - not on the PS4 - and you can clearly see in my sig that I'm on the PS4.

Unfortunately it stopped working quite some time ago, if you try the Pearlescent glitch the color defaults to Classic Black. Many have said Rockstar removed this ability by accident and promised to fix it over a year ago and they still haven't.

I don't know about this guys.. I have a crew black insurgent and I was playing the pearls on it just a few weeks ago, I've since repainted it but it was 000002 with a dark blue pearl.. Your saying the crew black changed to normal black when i added the pearl?. Not only that I painted a hotknife with some pretty fancy paint immediately after heists too. Oddly the paint on the hotknife won't work anymore (its crew over metal). But it did work within a few days of heists.

I still have the hotknife in those colours I'll get a picture. It was painted 100% inside LSC.

I think posting a list of codes with no photos or sample is a bit of a disservice. How is anyone supposed to know what it looks like?

Also... Let's have a word about #FF2800, Ferarri Red, one of the colors in the above list (you also have the same code repeated in your list as Dino Red). This is an accurate code for a Ferrari color; this code is quite easy to find on the Internet. It's even on Wikipedia. However, that is NOT the color that I think most people would think of when they think of a red Ferrari. This color has a substantial orange cast to it.

When most people think of red Ferraris, they're probably thinking of Rosso Corsa: #D40000.

This Turismo is Rosso Corsa:

16452724071_fe43b44c78_o.jpg

This Cheetah is Ferrari Red:

17356269865_eb76d3b65a_o.jpg

Note the Turismo at the end of the row is the same as the photo above. The two Stingers are painted the same color as each other, but not the same as the Turismo. They do look almost the same, though. My attempt for the Stingers was to create Rosso Cina, the color that most Ferrari 250 GTOs were painted; that car was the main basis for the Stinger GT. The Carbonizzare is painted Giallo Modena, one of several Ferrari yellow colors, though I've since repainted it a slightly more accurate version of the color. Most people will find Race Yellow at LSC to be a sufficiently close enough match, though. The difference is subtle.

Rosso Corsa has been several different colors over the years, as has Ferrari Red.

The color on that Ferrari does not appear to be Rosso Corsa, it looks like one of their darker reds.

Rosso Corsa is known to be #D40000; this can be found in multiple sources on the Internet. However, it is possible that the game's rendering system has changed the color that code represents into something a bit lighter.

Rosso Corsa is darker

EMlAsjR.jpg

In retrospect, I think that what happened with the Rosso Corsa code I used (#D40000) was the last thing I said: it was made to appear lighter by the game's color rendering system.

However, I don't think the color in your photo is true Rosso Corsa, or if it is, it was taken in dim lighting, because it appears too dark.

Here are some screen caps from Ferrari's own website. These are not photographs; they're colored renderings, so the color appearance may not be 100% accurate to what you'd see in real life. Also remember that photographs aren't 100% accurate to real life, either, as all camera systems will make some colors stronger and others weaker, plus there are other factors like white balance, etc.

Rosso Dino, aka Ferrari Red:

17355668732_53a1fa12f7_o.png

Rosso Scuderia:

17357228761_c1fd77f33c_o.png

Rosso Corsa:

17357582265_0bf3890867_o.png

Also worth noting is that the colors have changed over time. Ferrari Red (Rosso Dino) used to be less orange, for example. And Rosso Corsa, which in English translates as Racing Red, used to be slightly darker: #CC0000. This code is still the correct color for Italian Racing Red, part of the old national racing color system used before corporate sponsorships, which also gave us British Racing Green, German Racing White, French Racing Blue (the medium-light blue on old Bugattis), etc.

I think it's the lighting. The Turismo color you posted was a little lighter/orange than Rosso Corsa.

The Turismo color I posted has no orange at all. Zero, none, nada, zilch.

The color is #D40000; in RGB it's 212,0,0. Red is the only component of this color. Orange would have some green mixed in with the red; that's why Ferrari Red (#FF2800, or 255,40,0) appears slightly orange.

What is the amount to darken a color by for it to appear "correct" in game? Do you subtract a fixed amount, or a percentage, or what?

So, for example, if #D40000 (212,0,0) is the known code for Rosso Corsa, what does it need to be changed to for it to look correct in game?

Usually 4 or 5 shades using this site: http://www.w3schools.com/tags/ref_colorpicker.asp , but it varies.

Using the link provided earlier, I found #7F0000 as the color four shades darker than #D40000, the known value for Rosso Corsa. Here is a Stinger GT painted that color:

17360433015_f2b1ab3f60_o.jpg

Here is the same Stinger GT behind a Turismo R. This is NOT the same Turismo in the earlier photo! This one is actually a story-mode-only NPC custom car, which I imported into online several weeks ago when that was possible on PS4. It has black pearlescent, but a custom non-LSC red (I've scrolled through all the reds on secondary, and none were an exact match).

Here is the Turismo I posted earlier, to compare to the Stinger in the first photo of this post:

Here are the photos from KifflomBroBro showing a Ferrari of unknown, but claimed, Rosso Corsa color:

Did you go 4 shades because it was previously mentioned or because that's the colour you found worked best? If so that's pretty neat both of us have used 4 shades to get the colour we wanted. Means you can pretty much take any official Hex colour, go 4 shades darker and then you have the code for the in-game equivalent.

Edit: Totally missed C64fanatic's post, you can still answer if you want.
