The Dedito Gae

i'm the only one who loves the "splash" effect?

Recommended Posts

The Dedito Gae

i loved to cut fools with the chainsaw and see the blood splash on screen, or driving a boat and feel the character get wet, when i was a kid i was blown away by this tiny detail and the graphics, can't believe they only used it for just one game.

thoughts?

No. If they did, I don't recall it. Considering I just finished 5 more Save Files for LCS and 2 more for VCS the past couple of months.

If it's in these games, it's not the "same" as Vice City. Vice City did it really special. I know what OP means. VC is the only one to do this and I like it a lot...

Absolutely loved it. It really gave into the immersion factor. I'd like to see this return in one way or another in a future game. Rockstar better add the chainsaw back to the series when they do, though.

I didn't mind it. Saying that I would like it to reappear in a future game.

You're not alone. I loved the "splash" effect, one of the many reasons why GTA: Vice City is a great game.

I loved the blood particles on the screen when you massacred someone with a chainsaw, made the game a whole level more brutal.

But the rain drops were kinda annoying, it really blocked the view i think

It looks even better on the Xbox version (switch to 720p):

I'm surprised noone made the Xbox particle effects to PC yet, they are awesome!

It's not something you could easily port over to the PC version. I mean the new particle textures have already been converted to PC somewhere if I recall correctly but some effects, like the more realistic splash effect, are hardcoded into the Xbox version. It's not really a matter of converting textures.

I was thinking of some ASI or CLEO, maybe a d3d8.dll.

The OP said, I'm the only one who loves the splash effect." And the song is saying, "I'm not the only one." Get it now?

I loved the rain, sea water or blood splashing on the screen in GTA VC,it was a cool subtle way to break the fourth wall.It would be cool if they used it in later GTA games.Hopefully they bring it back in GTA 6.

GTA IV uses similar effects. In a gunfight blood will splash up on the screen and if you're on the water in a boat the spray can be seen on the screen too. In the rain if you stand still and tilt the camera up towards the sky rain drops will form on the screen also.

I always liked this subtle effect in GTA IV.

I always liked this splash effect in Vice City. Sadly they removed it in SA...

It's alright man.

Well i haven't touched VC for a long time but I think it's [gta_vc.set] since it's the file that i know that hold the text/codes for your in-game settings. Go look into the display tab also and check if you see something, maybe a setting related to the splash effects on screen, try enabling it or something. Other than that I know nothing else, sorry.
