I have just been informed that I can't make it to the meet, unless it's moved back a bit, which would be silly to do.

Could you put me on reserve though just in case? Thanks

All a ruse to show off a random truck when I showed up in another one! Never show your actual meet vehicle in pics if you want to surprise players.

Shake's Redneck Meet

Feedback:
Get some protein bars because this is a long one. No, I refuse to cut it down. Yes, you need a warrant for that. No, that's not mine.

First off, I want to say that I ruined this meet by not paying attention. Hours earlier, I joined another meet (nothing great) and I was still posting feedback & pictures. Now it usually takes me 2-4 hours to post pictures but I have some family over for a bit so my time before this meet was consumed by that. I was distracted for some parts (I didn't drive much during this meet as I hopped in with Outkast and MT - thanks guys - to post my stuff to get rid of it and focus on this meet). This also contributes to how few pictures I have. I only took a measly 45 pictures (I usually hang around 86-96 pictures)and I don't even have a proper finish picture! I'm slightly disappointed in myself. I've learned to focus completely on a meet, especially if the meet is this good. So with that said, if my judgment is lacking in terms of facts/opinions, you know why.

I honestly can't remember the last time I've had this much fun in a meet. I had nearly a day to think about it but came up as empty as my friend list on Facebook. I'm not entirely sure why I'm taking a liking to Shake - I sometimes look for new hosts and try to give them advice as I want to see them grow which is how I met Shake. It's a fun experiment and (humble brag) it usually works out. I think I'm taking such a liking to Shake because he reminds me of someone I also helped out called Raptor. It's been a long time so the details are fuzzy on what stage of hosting he was at but I do remember giving him pointers as his meets, same as Shake's previous meet, had some issues with reliable players. Raptor went from hosting meets that had some really bad players in them to growing a nice drift mini-cult as the group he had were great. He's not around anymore which sucks but Shake is easily slipping in that seat - both have that same laidback style of hosting. Hosting is a really stressful thing as you hope everyone enjoys themselves. While I'm sure Shake was pissing himself and having butterflies in his stomach, it didn't show one bit. He was as cool as a cucumber which is being used as a phallic-shaped pleasurable object by a very hot woman who's wearing a sweet 70's jeans jacket signed by Gene Simmons using only his tongue. That cool.

I typically post my feedback first (and by first I mean I take a few hours after a meet to do it) so I usually don't read feedback from others, also helps to form my own opinion and not get influenced by others who post feedback. I've read the feedback of this meet as I was curious (as well as posting this nearly a day later instead of my usual time) if anyone caught any mistakes and it seems we all caught the same thing: the impromptu aspect of the meet. But I'll be the only one to tell you it's a good thing...to an extent. My favorite part of meets is those that aren't planned; the little things that are only shared by those that joined the meet. The best part of this meet, for me, were those that weren't planned...which seems to be the whole meet in this case. Notable moments were the voting dozer (I was laughing so hard my cheeks were hurting), the man who ate his own ass (you'll see in the pictures below) and The Bull game (so can we give this a name?). I will say ending on The Bull game was perfect - it was entertaining yet chill enough to let players leave without any hard feelings as if the game was Semisonic's "Closing Time" being played in a bar at the end of the night and walking sh*tfaced outside in the cold air and puking on your date which you realize hours later that it was actually your best friend named James but secretly enjoys when people call him Jane. Not sure if you're too drunk to realize who is who or if you went on a date with Jane who's really your crossdressing friend James. I'll just stop with this whole thing as I have no clue where this is going.

The impromptu feel to the meet was shaky (get it?), to be honest. It's as if you didn't know what we were going to do. The uncertainty in your voice left us wondering if the meet was really planned. The games, planned or not, were really fun, though. A major success! The hillclimb one was a bit confusing to understand due to my distraction on the forum but I soon figured it out and it was a fun game! Nothing too original but the jump and traffic made it very interesting so props to Shake for putting his own twist on it. Steve screwed me over by driving into me as I left the starting line but failure/mistakes, in any way, was laughed off as the group was just top-notch (which I'll get to in a minute). The next game was a tug-o-war/tug-of-war/torque-of-war contest. Like sumo wrestling but with trucks; two trucks faced off and had to push the opposition out of the imaginary circle that we all envisioned. I don't think I've ever had a meet on that part of the beach so it was glad to do something with such a nice location. With how the trucks were parked in a small group together, it gave a cozy/our-little-corner atmosphere on the big beach. We then went mudding in some field which wasn't that great. It felt as if you had picked a piece of paper from a hat and it read, "f*ck around in a field, drive into some cops and then escape". That field could be used for an activity, for sure, but aimless driving isn't one of them. Some beach driving, some mountain driving and some other little things here and there later, we finished off the night with The Bull game.

The Bull game (still looking for a better name...) came to Shake after watching me when I said, "guys, guys...look, a bull is coming at me!" and jumping out of the way of NPC cars only to be hit twice by the SAME car. I was screwing around as we were parked up but I'm so glad Shake noticed the potential as I was oblivious to the possibilities. All his impromptu training came to great use as he set a location and, with the help of the lobby, made the game right then and there. Outkast has been moaning to me lately that I don't take credit for stuff I do (yes, Outkast, I'm saying this here) so I'm going to take credit for suggesting to Shake and the others that the bulls (those in vehicles coming down the Sandy Shores airstrip towards the players) should press the right stick to look backwards to make it challenging. The players were asked to stand still and not move, hoping the spot they picked was a good one and not get hit by the bulls. I'll see about tweaking the game but the finished product was done with the group we got and it's a great game! Plus, cheating (by looking forwards instead of backwards when being a bull) can be countered by looking at the minimap and checking which direction the dot is "looking" towards so that's great.

Now the group itself was fantastic! Some new faces I haven't seen such as Assassin, Tking, Relic (from Shake's previous meet), and Crow (who I've seen before in a meet but never actually met). Some old faces such as Outkast, Steve, MT, and the mic-less Chief (get a new mic!). Hopefully I didn't miss anyone - I hate naming players from a meet as I usually forget someone. Shake might've been reluctant to invite Relic back due to Relic inviting a player last meet who turned out to be a maniac with a gun. No players were invited from the players in this lobby and no one killed someone else intentionally. So Shake went from having a very bad meet due to trolls and trouble players to having this meet; the best possible meet you can get in GTA:O. If Shake had gotten a less reliable group, would his impromptu approach worked? Yes, but not as well as it did. Random players would've taken advantage of your no-plan atmosphere but luckily the group we had for this meet was attentive, respectful and just a blast to have! Everyone was cracking jokes (except mic-less Chief - get a new mic!), I felt like I was friends with everyone. I will say that whoever kept getting cops (I won't put names here as I'm not entirely sure who it was - I do have an idea of who it might be so don't do this again)...get them once, sure, lose them. Get them twice and you need to watch what you do a bit more. Get them three times while we're still in Paleto Bay and you need to get yourself a metal plate with your name on it so you can hang it above the jail cell that you should be put in for the rest of the meet.

Other than cops swarming us at a few points and Shake sounding like he's got the same plan as Hitler before he died, excellent meet! The date and time you do your meets is perfect and with what you came up for games and as Steve said (as well as I in the past); your ability to see potential in something quickly and turn it into something useful for a meet is matched by none. Get rid of aimless mud driving and jump on any suggestions and ideas given by the lobby. By no means am I saying to go with no plan in hopes that the lobby provides a meet. Get a platform for your meet and build on it. Any gaps left can be filled by suggestions that can be done to improve something you planned or be done at the end of your meet/after all your planned events/games/locations, etc such as suggest minigames or activities. Don't let so little criticism get you down. It's so rare to have this much fun in GTA:O for me now, let alone in meets. Didn't I tell you that you'd get your regulars? Well, you met them with this meet.

Oh, and the theme was just blissful. I'm curious to see what you'll do with a drift meet (or anything city-based) but so far you've got offroading quite well. Reminds me a lot of Steve's offroad meets, especially the early ones. Also, thanks to Steve for leading the pack on some sweet offroading trails. Despite having batteries more dead than Steve's voice after getting a few hours of sleep, he took the group on some sightseeing tour. Man, those stars in the sky were sure nice!

Pictures:

With my post of earlier showing a picture of a blue truck, I showed up with this piece of sh*t instead (I mean the truck):
0_0.jpg

The theme being redneck/cowboy was conveyed perfectly from a sh*tty farm truck, a built-tough light show of a pick-up and a classic ranch car:
0_0.jpg

The cowboy was a bit different on the other side as these mean machines weren't kidding around! A big truck screaming Texas, a smaller one that whispered offroading and a green box with wheels that was just happy to be there:

Seeing we were cowboys, we had to view the birth of a Rebel and feed it properly:

"Guys, that is NOT how you rodeo. Let me show you..."

"ARGH, MY LEG! HELP ME, DANG IT!"

And here you can see a successful dozer rider and last year's winner, Hank "The Humper" Turner:

We watched on as a Sandking dies and goes to heaven, God bless you:

With the theme being cowboys, we sought to find the best outfit. The best dressed was Crow - congrats and yee-haw!

There's a bit of country in all of us so we needed to find the vehicle we would most likely drive in real-life which was awarded to Outkast - congrats! I would definitely drive this...but not in the rain.
0_0.jpg

Seeing this was a meet, a Best of Show was needed. Turns out people like sh*t cars - congrats to me? I'm stuck with this damn thing, you know! Surprisingly fast, though.
0_0.jpg

This was a nice group and had some variety - you can see a Rancher, a Bobcat and another Sandking added to the group. I think there's a Rebel hidden behind that black Sandking, as well:

After Tom fell off the roof and the ambulance was called in, we left for an adventure:

"Guys, check out my new winch!"

This man was doing the Downward Dog for far too long that I think he was just doing yoga as an excuse so he can blow himself - so close!

Some fog was settling in as a battle was brewing:

And a clash of titans ensued!

Some fought bravely and hard:

Others needed help:

This wouldn't be a meet without some cops shooting us and the NPC's (along with some big trucks) going mental:

"Tis but a flesh wound!" except in cowboy: "That's ketchup, ma! Nah, that racoon didn't bit me, I bit it!"

Is this a Steve meet?

Mountain pics always relaxes me:

Of course, we had to stop on top of Chiliad:

Look at these country boys:

After that, we all had some fun with wood:

Shake just got his new phone and is currently looking up how to cook roadkill:

A FLYING BEETLE!

Some of us had a personal driver:

Players had to avoid the bulls (vehicles):

A standing rule was made and the bulls had to look backwards while driving:

The change was explosive!

Only two remained as you can see someone getting run over by that Sandking:

It went on through the night as the sun rose...on a gloomy day:

Rain or shine, it was fun - definitely wanting to see this again:

Feedback: Was an amazing, fun-filled meet tonight. Very happy with the turn out and the players were superb! Great meet to come back and host after the fallout meet last week. I don't post a huge feedback (although others will so keep your eyes peeled) but I will go ahead and post some pictures I took. I thank all of you again that joined! I would have to say the funnest meet I've been in for awhile. Hope to see you all back next time!

Feedback:

I must say that compared to the last meet held by Shake, this one was hilarious and fun. There were so many laughs and jokes thrown all around the place, not to mention the funny stuff that kept happening all night (well day for me). I was initially not supposed to attend the meet as there were issues on the personal side of my life but I was so glad that sorted itself out and I was able to attend. I am so happy that I did not miss out on this one and I am also glad that Shake had a more respectable and co-operative lobby this time as compared to the last. Shake had some fun events planned too. Not sure whether they were planned in advance or impromptu – nevertheless they were good fun as it kept the lobby and meet alive. The team hill climb and the tug of war events were awesome! I was truly amazed with the scenic beauty of the off road trails we took by some of the players who we followed. I really wish I had taken more pictures but I am hopeful that others would have taken them as best as they could. I was too busy looking around and taking in the view and the in game beauty. Here are some of the pictures I took (man I wished I had taken more, maybe next time) Thanks Shake for having me and for excusing my to-and-fro from the meet. Thanks to Tick for the interesting discussion we had about genderism and for that Black-White comment when the Sandkings were battling it out on the beach :D Loved that one! Also it was good to see Steve at the meet (who was red-eyed as he had just 3 hours of sleep under his belt) Was great catching up with you dude and I will try and make it to one of your meets for your technical off-roading paths. Wanna give shoutouts to MTBB47, LDHavoc, ChiefJeffJeff and the others (sorry I forgot the gamertag – went to check the first post on the thread and they were reset). All of you guys were amazing and thank you all for a wonderful meet. Here is looking forward to the next event. Right, NOW for the pictures! :)

Beep, beep-beep, beep. 4.30 am I dragged my onesie wearing arse out of bed. Whilst making coffee, I found myself singing my off-rd theme tune. “There ain’t no mountain high enough, there ain’t no morning start early enough to keep me from off roading with you”

I was soon shaken out of my dazed state by the lively and fired up lobby. Lots of laughs starting with the dozer. And some nice vehicle on show.

We started with the voting, and then went on to some mini games. The relay race was fun, I would suggest to shake to pick locations in advance as NPC and cops always throw a spanner in even the best planned mini games.

The Tug of war was epic, even better on the beach, a great location for it. Loved watching the sandkings go head to head.

We headed back for repairs, but then went straight into a demo derby in a field J so went back for some more repairs. At this point I was itching to get going with some driving.

We had a nice picture friendly trail around the chiliad state wilderness, the right time of day for it looking forward to seeing some of the pics from this. I enjoyed testing my truck on the chiliad climb. Before swapping to the sandking to take the group on a little trail of my own.

The highlight of the night came next. “raging bull” mini game. Lots of fun and carnage. And a perfect location: My controller Batteries failed from that point, no charge in either set so I called it a night.

Thanks shake for a fun night/morning. It was so full of laughs and funny moments from the start. I giggled from start to when i lost controller power.

I have a little bit of practical feedback for you, that are just my rambling opinion.

I really liked shakes ability as a host to adapt his plans to things happening in the lobby and go with it. Few hosts have this ability and its will always make for fun filled night. However last night I though this happened a little too often especially at the start. I would of liked a little more of a rigid plan or route as a template. With a plan once the impromptu things happen and run their course, the host can knows what is coming next and we can move on. I could see that things with a less of a chilled group may break down quickly in future events. I liked the fact that as a group we got to choose routes, we get to see lots of new spots. Maybe a time limit is needed or a set end point, to avoid the group getting split, eg at ticks meet, we were taken to different fav photo spots. So we knew were to go and could take an alternate route if we had to.

Thanks again for hosting shake look forward to attending another very soon. I got far too few pictures but here are the couple I did get.

@Steve: Yes, that will be something I begin to do more is lay out more of a plan and such on my first post as well as doing a little planning on the map as well before the meets. Happy to hear you enjoyed the games as well as the offroading, always fun! Thank you for the feedback, does help me become a better host! See you next time. Thank you again for attending!

@Outkast: Great pictures taken man! Was good to see that you were able to make it. Thank you for the feedback and kind words as well. Also happy to hear you liked the games that were played. Glad you enjoyed it! See you at the next one. Thank you again for joining!

Yeah man! Totally recommended. And like so, [ spoiler ] then type whatever you want in the middle [ /spoiler ]

(But make it so the parenthesis don't have a space between the text)

Feedback & pictures up (bumped as I reserved my post due to sleep being a more important issue). So glad to see feedback & pics already! Why not see what each post got?

@Shake: Amazing shots! Hosts have it way harder than players if they want to take pictures. You took a good chunk of pictures and managed to keep the meet going at an amazing pace. Great job, seriously!

My favorite pic from Shake:

If the window of that Mesa wasn't broken it would've been a winning shot for a pic comp, no doubt:

@Outkast: Always a blast with Outkast! Yes, this is my catchphrase for Outkast now. As Shake; amazing shots! For being such a busy guy and not joining that many meets, you know what works in a meet and what doesn't. You also know how to take some sweet angles so it's always a pleasure to see your pics.

My favorite pic from Outkast:

The lighting is just stunning:

@Steve: That offroad song made me laugh. Steve might not know to buy new batteries but he does know what can be improved in meets. Sage advice that I suggest following. Always glad to see your feedback on other meets than your own (as you give a different perspective - just can't really pin it).

My favorite pic from Steve:

Obviously this one - sorry for ruining that!:

@Crow: Glad to finally meet you properly! Had a blast having you around. Awesome shots, as well! Hoping you can snap more in the future.

All of your guys feedback and pictures are really appreciated! Very thoughtful of you guys to take your own time to post these. I already thanked the others individually, now..

@Tick: Thank you a ton for the very long and well thought feedback. I would agree, you have helped shape me into a host. I also will start to put more of a layout/plan every time so they go just as smooth or even smoother. And your endless ideas to fill in the cracks help meets flow as well. Thank you again for the kind words and for attending as well. Hope to see you again next time as well as everyone else!

Great meet, will be back for the next one! Also, I only nabbed one pic because my snapmatic was full, and it wasn't even that good.
