I'm thinking of buying a gaming pc since GTA's finally coming out on PC (V). Whats a good build for $800 or under?

Min Specs: Average to Good Processor, 8GB RAM, 1TB Hard Drive, 2GB Graphics Card

From a price to performance standpoint, something like this build would be a good way to go. http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Cloudyy/saved/#view=ptKdnQ It's even in a Micro-ATX form factor for better space efficiency.

Just remember, don't skimp out on the power supply. Always go for one from a reliable brand with good reviews. You don't want to skimp on it and end up with a fried system. A decent power supply, like the one in the build above, is only a little bit more than the cheap off-brand ones that are likely to have serious reliability issues. You don't want to risk it.

(Also the r9 290 GPU is a good alternative to the GTX 970 for a bit less money, but it consumes more power)

Oh yeah, I forgot about the whole Kingston SSD debacle. In that case OP, you'd be better off investing a bit more in an SSD that doesn't have fake/gimped specs.

I'd definitely not recommend Kingston V300 - the current revision of it is pure crap, chances are it's the worst SSD on the market right now: http://www.anandtech.com/show/7763/an-update-to-kingston-ssdnow-v300-a-switch-to-slower-micron-nand

And don't get Samsung 840 evo either

Products are getting more and more complex, but I feel like a lot of sh*t is sold lately.

Kingston and Samsung SSD performance problems.

Nvidia 970 (technically not a bug, but still crap)

Intel TSX bug

With GTX970 I think the issue is with nVidia's bad marketing more than anything else.

Kingston SSD's are fine, it's the V300 which is the problem.

Can't really argue about the 840 problems, it's good if you can get one cheap though.

While what Nvidia did with the 970 was a douche move, it's still the same card that people were blowing their load over at launch. The VRAM isn't an issue until you're running it as resolutions that the core can't handle anyway. There might be the odd exception with unoptimised games that need far more VRAM than they should (Shadow of Mordor). I mean, when you consider that it didn't become news until several months after release, it makes you wonder how much of a problem it really is.
