This happened to me during a heist yesterday. I turned into a tubby faced black guy. I would have lived with it had I had to, but a 2 minute search of the Rockstar support forum told me to go to...

 

single player -> start -> online -> choose character

 

...and it was fixed. They've acknowledged the issue and that resolution worked for me.

i logged in for the first time since heists were released... fully expected my face to ahve changed and it hadnt, the only difference in my character was a tiny tiny lightening of his hair... not checked my female character tho, im scared of switching n coming face to face with ru-paul...

Note that these pics were done after Rockstar support unlocked my account so I could completely change my character. As you see the glitch still occurs. It's kinda annoying especially because I managed to create a pretty hot chick. Rockstar has to finally do something about this.

I've had to do that several times now and I've just given up. Just freeroam and daily objectives, apart from that, I dont want to risk becoming a permanent Transgender.

That subtle sarcasm is fruitless. I asked a public question and sent a support ticket most probably earlier than you did yesterday and they gave me the same resolution. It's still reverting back to other character types.

Here was my ticket, and as of now, Rockstar has admitted that they're still working on a solution, so good luck actually thinking yours will work forever(if it does, you're lucky), because for most, it's still not even after they reset the character.

I even stated in my earlier post what it kept doing after Rockstars "solution."

  My Character's appearance and skin color was changed when I logged into GTA Online today. I was kindly granted the ability to change my Character's appearance earlier by Jennifer H, a R* Support Employee. I changed my Character's look to it's original, the way I wanted it. However,still,during game play,it keeps changing skin color and facial appearance/structure back and forth between my original appearance and several other ones. Can I perhaps get a reset(if needed) or verification that this issue will be fixed? This is the second time within two hours I've had this issue even after it was declared as reset. I've been dealing with it a lot longer now though.

  I highly doubt this is an issue with corruption(on my part) as I have not ever taken part in modding, hacking, glitching, exploiting, or anything else of the sort. My files should be fine on my part given I have never done anything that should in theory, make it corrupted. I've never even been in a modded lobby before. I'm pretty sure this is a glitch having to do with the recent update from a few days ago as several players are on here with the same issue. Hopefully you can further assess the situation me and most probably thousands of other players are experiencing right now.

  I'm ironically very paranoid about corrupted data and probably one of the most cautious players out there. I make sure I exit out of GTA Online properly, reload the campaign file, pause and then quit it out of the dashboard, properly turning it off on my Xbox One. I then completely shut off my console, I never have it in stand-by mode in order to prevent this type of problem yet it still happened.

  I was able to get my character back to the original way(the way I want it), but whenever I do a mission, it dramatically changes into something else that was not created by me, and stays that way unless I completely exit GTA and turn off my console.

  In essence, I do everything properly, I play the game properly, I exit the game properly, I shut off my console properly, and have done nothing that should really cause this sort of issue.

  I am a very loyal R* customer, and love GTA Online very much. I've put down more than 500 dollars of real life currency on in-game Shark Cards, so I think it's safe to say I enjoy the game very much and would really appreciate it if this issue could be resolved.

I guess i've been lucky. But it still is quite scary to see my character change appearance just like that...

 

My character usually looks like this.

 

 

Then this happens when i do missions or heists...

 

 

But then i go to the switch character screen my character goes back to his former self, so this is temporary?!?

The needless hostility doesn't exactly help any situation, so you really don't have to engage in a futile argument with me. Let's look through these points again so I can stretch across the main concept to you.

 

Your solution has not worked for anyone else here on the thread, so re-posting your little "2 minute journey on the support" several times is only a waste of time, especially if someone is naive enough to take your advice and think that's actually a 100% guaranteed fix, only to end up with a permanently morphed Character.

The hypocrisy of telling someone to raise a support ticket when you didn't even do so is somewhat odd. Every file is different, so I don't know why you didn't at the very least ask a question on Rockstar Support. As you saw earlier, not only did I ask once, their solution didn't work, I had to ask again, then submit a support ticket to get a real authentic assessment of the situation, not rest on the laurels of others claimed solutions that probably won't work 100% through, unfortunately(which is what you've done/been doing).

Several people on this thread besides me have even said that simply resetting the character or "choosing character" still doesn't work.

Ironically, I've taken a more logical approach to this, and there we go with the subtle sarcasm and needless hostility. I'm not going to waste my time making a module of this, but I will re-paste my support ticket in case you didn't/couldn't read it before.

This is triggered by any Job, this glitch is not exclusive to only Heists. Several people on Rockstar Support have pointed this out and explained their situation and even EquanoxZ has pointed it out on this thread. I too, am also having this occur with simply any Job, despite Rockstar's help so far. I at least, however, have took as much action as I should have with a thorough explanation.
