I'm tired of seeing people bitch about passive mode. Maybe if you stopped trying to grief a passive player you wouldn't have to deal with it.

 

Personally I'm always in passive. Often I'm hovering around in my Hydra watching people. Then some jackass attacks me so I come out of passive and kill him and return to passive to make him leave. The noob proceeds to send me messages like "Gt oout pssiv fgt" even though I was clearly in passive before, only exiting it to get them away from my Hydra. They always get in their own Hydra and constantly shoot my hovering one.

Let me rephrase, I need to prepare myself for potential battle. If I'm standing in the middle of the road and a blip is coming at me, I'm a open target. You are pretty stupid if you just stand there and a blip comes at you thinking they won't at least try to mo you down.

Drive car at passive player, jump out before it hits them. Or use Insurgent and ram NPC cars into them. There are ways to fight back if you tried

Who here has fell victim to a Passive Mode player who disables it, kills you, and enables it again. This has got to be the most bit** move in GTA Online.

 

A di** icon blip (R* humor right there) should be placed on these people who are in Passive Mode. Hell, make it even flash really fast that tells you that they are coming out of Passive Mode so you have a chance to react without getting shot in the back.

 

Or put a time limit for how long you can stay in Passive Mode.

 

Interaction Menu > Passive Mode > Let em pay $5,000 for it > Time Limit: 5 minutes

 

Sounds like you, need to use an invite only session.

 

Deal with passive players no more! Enjoy the comforts of never having to deal with their passive ways ever again!

 

Shouldn't it be the other way around? If someone is using passive mode, they obviously don't want to interact with the other players very much.

 

I agree with the OP. I'm finding more and more players exploiting passive mode and I don't understand why most of the people in this thread are defending it.

I personally always thought passive was stupid and would just much rather have passive lobbies instead, but in any case, I think something should be done about the players exploiting it,

Assuming you're on Ps4/X1, best thing you can do is to enter Passive Mode as well. It's been improved by R* much better.

 

If you call it as Pussy Mode like some people here and ban it yourself as an in-game feature, then the problem isn't only on the abuser. You make the problem yourself for not utilizing in-game option to the fullest just because of you're own thought.

I'm assuming you don't do anything besides killing in freemode, right? You can be in Invite-Only and Solo Sessions for a while, then get randomly placed into a Public Lobby after finishing jobs and anything involving heists. Besides, how many times do you really see an entire 30-player lobby fighting each other outside of Crew vs Crew battles? Almost never, so that "valuable space" doesn't mean jack sh*t to begin with. "New Session" because of a sticky situation? What, wait in more loading screens than we normally should, and have the possible chance of countless connection errors, especially people that have trouble joining GTAO to begin with? No thank you (I rarely have these problems, but it still applies to a large number of players). Great job using the word "rape" by the way.

Just add a cooldown timer thats longer for you. You're back to normal after 10 seconds, but other players can kill you after 7.

Players CAN kill you right away, that's the point of the timer, the problem is that the icon doesn't always immediately change...much like a player with a bounty respawning with the bounty still on them until 15-30 seconds (sometimes more) later when you finally get the notification of a collected bounty

 

Its not the killing that bothers me at all, If i felt like griefing, passive goes off and stays off until Im done.

I want to go cruising mostly in public sessions while I wait for invites to other activities and players have the ridiculous desire to smash into you. Im not a fan of cruising in a beat up whip at all and im not gonna go to LSC 285259621 times to fix my car. So enable passive mode and no stupid player touches me.

Didn't they add team death match for that? Why don't you eff off from free kills in free roam, and play with other in team death match? Or you can't because they'll fight back?

I disagree with a comment above that the countdown to come out of passive mode should be made longer. When you find yourself getting attacked by NPCs, or you accidentally wander into a gang attack to get a Pegasus vehicle and forgotten you're in passive mode, it already takes too long to be able to defend yourself. Remember, these are NPCs, your passive mode doesn't apply to them and they can kill you quick if you're unable to defend yourself.

 

The time limit to get back into passive mode is 30 seconds. If you get killed by someone who just came out of passive, and you can't bring your retaliation back to that player within 30 seconds, then you're not really good enough to worry about attacking that player anyway. You're just going to get embarrassed, so go find a lower level newb to take it out on.

 

I also disagree that there should be any time limit on how long you can stay in passive mode. Passive mode is there for you to be able to explore or otherwise move about the map without getting harassed by other players. If there's a time limit, players are just going to start following passive mode players, waiting for that timer to expire so they can attack them. Sure, the passive mode player could try to get away, but then he's not free to do whatever it was he went into passive mode to do in the first place.

 

The only change I currently actively want made to passive mode is that when a passive player enters a vehicle, their dot on the map should still indicate they're in passive mode. Many times I've gone around the map hunting for players to kill, sometimes seeing one standing still, thinking to myself it'll be an easy kill, only to waste my time driving to the player's location just for it to turn out that they're in passive mode sitting in a car, not moving.
