ARC8_1982
According to Steam, my current download speed is 569.4 KB/S, 587.5 highest, is this fast enough ? It took me an hour to download Half Life 2 free demo on Steam. Thanks in advance for the answer.
AyeScavenger
I think it is said to be release 17 april because of f*cking flipkart pre-order service. Literally took me 3-4 days late to get my order Nope. It has nothing to do with flipkart. The 'official' release date for the Indian region is April 17. God knows why. Nope GamesTheShop is the official distributor of R* Games in India. It will "RELEASE"/"SHIP" Only on April 17th anf Flipkart will get it from GamesTheShop hence everyone will get the game on April 20-21. There is a Sat and Sun in between so we must be really lucky to receive it in 2-3 Days. No. The official distributor is E-xpress Interactive. They are listed as a support contact for India on R*'s website. Just Research a bit bro, GamesTheShop is owned by E-Express Interactive. Its their Online Retail Store in India. If the steam servers won't be messed up, you'll play the game in about a day or two when you start downloading. If they start pre-loads 2 days before the release, you should be good to go. Bonaldo
I wonder about this: Can you download games through Rockstar Games Social Club? Because if retail version is not Steam redeemable (only RGSC), then what will happen if my disc gets scratched or I somehow lose it? Will my game be lost forever? I won't be able to download it again having only a key.

I will buy it from Nuuvem probably and they only give a key that works on RGSC, i won't get the discs. Sooo, without having the discs, do i have to torrent the game files ? I tought you can download games on RGSC like you can on Origin/Uplay. Edited March 28, 2015 by vLaDz

Then you need to have a backup. But it's really weird, even if I have the physical version and I loose it or damage it, I should be able to download the game from Rockstar from my account where I actiated the game. Someone should clarify it once and for all cause it's pretty chaotic.

Yeah that is weird indeed, you can backup the files in another partition saying you want to reinstall the Windows (C partition) but let's say i need to format every partition do i need to backup the files on 8 discs or so lol, the game should be linked to your account forever like it is on steam and stuff when you activate it. Damn that's weird.

But i don't think they ship discs directly from NY. I think rockstar gives out master copies to the agency and they burn those discs and sells them in cardboard boxes. This explains those cardboard boxes.

Jigglyass
Physical is better because if they remove any content in the future you will still have it on your disks. Case point with GTA SA and the songs that got removed in steam version... I paid for it, I want all of it in my possession. poland stronk
I never liked Steam. After Ubisoft sh*t with revoking right to play Far Cry 4 I have another reason to - even if it is Valve I don't like that all games now are tied to Steam, what if their management goes nuts and decides that I need to pay subscription so I can access my account and play games? No, I don't want to participate in that. I have Steam but with only one game but I try to avoid it and support those who release their products without DRM because I want old times back where games were so good I could buy them again if disc would've shattered in some accident. I support GOG.com because they know there are many gamers like me who don't want to deal with Steam, Origin or similar stuff. Releasing a DRM-only version is treating a legal buyers like thieves. Pirates don't have to deal with that so why should normal people do? In short words: I will be getting a a physical copy without Steam if available. Call me old-fashioned, I don't care. Feryll
Steam: +my optical drive died 2 years ago, haven't used it since and I don't intend to replace it +I would really hate it if I had to use the DVD to play the game. +easy preload +I have 100Mbit/s bandwidth, I always download at maximum speed from Steam, 65GB is not an issue (even if it is uncompressed) +steam achievements, cards, backgrounds etc... (not really important) -it is annoying and absurd that retail is cheaper -no bonus poster (I don't like posters on my walls anyway.)

Rock Howard
It's going to be funny when all these people walk into their game store and get given a key-code for the download. If you think Rockstar are putting a 65gb game onto CD. What is there? 7gb per DVD now-a-days? You think you're going to get 9 CD's to install the game? haha. This is what you're going to get, either a Steam or RSSC key: http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/302cqh/we_got_these_today_at_work/ are you serious? yes, we got 6-7CD's what's wrong with it? Exactly. Dual layer DVDs can hold up to 8.5GB, which means the game will most likely come on 7 - 8 DVDs in its physical form if the game is 65GB in size. Also, those harping on about not being able to play the game on different PCs are incorrect. As has been said the game will be bound to your RSC account once you activate it. As long as you log into your RSC account on the different PC, you'll be able to play the game once you install it on said PC. As for myself, PHYSICAL COPY all the way. Call me old school but I like something I can sit on my shelf and hold in my hands... In addition, my max dowload speed is around half a MB a second with a 100MB download limit before it gets slowed. Simply not practical for me to go with Steam/digital download. Everyone I know that built their own PC doesnt use one and if they do then they had to go buy an external drive lol I imagine the ones that own GTA 5 on DVD will be laughing at Digital downloaders when Rockstar decides to remove songs from GTA 5 in a couple of years time, just like they have done with GTA SA. I am usually an advocate of Digital Distribution. I love steam and I think it is a fantastic service. However it does remove some control you have over your purchase. I know if I was going to buy GTA 5 it would definitely be Retail DVD not because I don't have a fast connection or I am burdened with download caps. I would buy it on retail DVD because it would give me the base game that Rockstar cannot alter after the fact. If Rockstar release a patch for the steam version of GTA 5 that removes content from the game then you are f*cked (especially since Steam removed the option to turn updates off). As for building a PC and missing out a 10 buck DVD drive you must know some very very stupid people. Chris S
I bought the physical because, - it's cheaper - I get a case and poster (something I can hold in my hands and I like the GTA cases) - I never have to download the full game, it's 65 gigabyte's and in the future it will be even more. - No steam overlay what is witht his steam overlay thing is there a way to just alter the file and overwrite it with a image that is transparent? CharmingCharlie
what is witht his steam overlay thing is there a way to just alter the file and overwrite it with a image that is transparent? You can turn off the steam overlay in steam just go too settings/In-Game and untick the box next too "Enable Steam Overlay while in-game". I don't quite understand what Breitmeisters problem is with the overlay. In my experience it is pretty minimalistic I never use the overlay and never see it. If it is just the pop up notifications he doesn't like then they can be disabled too.

Everyone I know that built their own PC doesnt use one and if they do then they had to go buy an external drive lol Just because you're a special snowflake who finds optical media obsolete does not mean everyone else sees it that way. Besides I don't get why people freak out if the disks get scratched and thinking they would lose their game permanently. I had my second disk get wreaked for GTA 4 and I simply contacted rockstar support and they sent me a brand new set of disks after I sent em a picture of my boxed copy, the disks and the CD key on back of my game guide. They replace the DVD media for free if its scratched up. Though cost may apply depending in what area of the world you are in but its probably for shipping only.. Additionally, they even provided me with another CD key for GTA 4 since my original key did not work on GFWL.
