Steam or Retail DVD ROM? What ARE YOU BUYING?

Pre-ordered the Steam version to get all the bonuses, and to be sure it will work on Steam. I didn't care much about the price, at some point. At first, I wanted to spend less money but, I wasn't sure anymore about Steam support so I changed my mind.

I hope I'll be able to download it all to play on day one. I hope pre-loading will be available the week end before release.

If I buy it on Steam, can I still play if I log on on diferent computer with my account, will it download again or what ?

no its not transferable

you need buy a new copy(code)

serial code(s) are non-transferable once used

per one pc

https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/203428177

Did you even read his comment? o.o

To answer elgerium, yes. You can login to another PC with your steam account and play the game when ever you want.

on diffrent hardware?

i think this drm not allowed that

ex. you buy game on laptop downloading and activated it on laptop

but then you log in on desktop hi-end pc and downloading game for second time for free?

problem is you can have 50 pc's with your own steam account and download 50 game copies but paid once :lol::lol::lol:

dubs

Steam allows you to download the game to any machine you want. Changing that now would be retarded. Since this is how it has always worked.

You pay for the game, its yours, you can play it via the steam account that purchased it anytime.

So, if I buy a retail disc copy I won't be able to play it on Steam with my friends?

This kinda sucks.

You will be able to play with them, but your game will not be activated through steam. You can still add them via RSC and join them. The game is played via the rockstar' servers.

guys you acting like a kids just read this https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/203428177

-''serial code(s) are non-transferable once used''

for example

when you activated it on laptop you used this code

when you start playing on desktop you can download the game on steam twice (i think) cuz it's in your library
but you need install it again so you need to buy new codes to start play on desktop, its simple :)

You activate the game for your account. Once the key is used you can not activate it on another ACCOUNT.

You will still be able to change PC. Do they check for hardware ID's now?

What if your GPU breaks, new HWID = has to buy the game again.

No, its retarded. The game is account-bound.

I'd probably get the physical version of the game.

Because Indian ISP's are crap.

Not really. We have Airtel 4g , to bad it is caped at 10 gb

...and I've got a 4Mbps fiber connection which is also capped at 10GB per month.

I don't know if this is a good thread for that but I gotta ask - what happend with GTA V price? Usually, games in my country are priced from 100-120 PLN (Around 30-40USD) and suddenly GTA V - BANG - lowest price is 170PLN (50USD+)

What the hell? Why is price of this game so high?

I went retail as I don't really like steams overlay, plus my monthly download limit is 100gb a month and the digital version would chew up more than half of that in one download. I'm pretty sure it will just use Social Club like Max Payne 3 did. God knows how many discs it will require though, MP3 was 4 and that was only 35gigs.

Possibly have x amount on disc and the rest will be a download, but I'm just speculating.

For me it'd make no difference BW-wise and the fact that it would *always be available on steam for dld again is a +. I say that because my hard-copy GTA IV became unreadable due to the inner disc ring coming apart and separating into the data area... I eventually bought it on special from steam in EFLC... I don't generally like to have to have steam running when playing games because it does use resources BUT running the game launcher itself for IV has worked fine. In that case steam doesn't need to run unlike some other games such as SC Blacklist w/ Uplay etc...

RetardOfTheYear

Didn't buy a game on DVD since gta IV : EFLC I think, I do prefer physical copies, but i'm just too impatient so i'll get the steam version and pre-load it as soon as I can.

Here: http://goo.gl/8RTmBKIt lists that GTA V's gonna release April 17th. It is one of the official sites by RockstarGames for India. Whats going on, according to that I will receive the game around April 20-21 which will totally cause me to rage kill someone.....I ordered retail, again because of the 10 GB limit.

Steam will pass the game to RGSC either way. Buying game on Steam just adds one more DRM, nothing more or less so you will be able to play with everyone in GTA:Online, no matter where you buy the game.

It's going to be funny when all these people walk into their game store and get given a key-code for the download. If you think Rockstar are putting a 65gb game onto CD. What is there? 7gb per DVD now-a-days? You think you're going to get 9 CD's to install the game? haha.

This is what you're going to get, either a Steam or RSSC key:

http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/302cqh/we_got_these_today_at_work/

are you serious? yes, we got 6-7CD's

what's wrong with it?

I bought the physical because,

- it's cheaper

- I get a case and poster (something I can hold in my hands and I like the GTA cases)

- I never have to download the full game, it's 65 gigabyte's and in the future it will be even more.

- No steam overlay

I prefer the physical copy as always, don't want to download the whole game again and I like the map and menu.

From the current system requirements from R*, Steam is not listed as a require software to install, so physical copies very likely cannot activate via Steam.

For serial codes are non-transferable once activated, I think this is like what R* did on IV, they provide a wizard to deactivate the game, it will launch when the game is being uninstalled.

Then you can install it on the other PC and use the same code to activate again on the same RGSC account.

I dont get it, people talk about the steam overlay like its something thats over the game permanently o.o

I understand people that wants a physical copy, but whats wrong with the steam overlay? Its not in the way and its a fast way to write to friends.
