Character appearance change glitch

My Australian Aboriginal character just turned white as a ghost. This is a disgrace!, racist bullsh*t.

Oh so that explains it. I was with two people in a public lobby & they were talking about how they joined a heist as a cop & their character went from black to white. They said it was a conspiracy involving Rockstar not liking black people :facepalm:

It happens to me too.

I have a male character, my face always changes to female character face, but still with male body.....during heists setup/final....face may change after one of any mission (heists....i dont sure about other jobs)

 

my origin face and female one is still okay for me if the female one can change back to origin after i go back SP and join MP again...but sometimes it change to a very terrible face after setups.....

Seems to be something glitchy with the new masks and gear. My face only looks weird in heist cutscenes since the last update.

Sounds like the old mask bug's more-or-less gone - the new one is apparently something to do with temporary files not working properly, according to an up-ticked response over at the Support forums:

This is possibly an issue with corrupted temporary files. If you continue to have issues like this, please try these steps:

-On Xbox 360: Clear your system cache, then Hold LB + RB while booting the game

-On Xbox One: Clear your system cache by holding the power button on your Xbox One until the system fully shuts off. You can then immediately power on the system and launch the game.

-On PS3 or PS4: Clear your game data (NOT save data) from the Game Data Utility in the XMB (system menu). Afterwards, hold L1 + R1 while booting the game.

Note: This will also reset your brightness settings and choice of language in GTAV.

It is recommended that you clear your console and game cache after each update or extended periods of play as there may be lots of temporary files on the console that may become corrupted. Also after an extended play session it is advised that you shut down you console completely instead of putting it in stand-by mode. Putting the console in stand-by can prevent it from clearing temporary data and cause issues over time.

If you're still having issues submit a support ticket

That's from a Support Forum user, who was allegedly recommended to do the above by R* Support staff.


That'd probably account for how the bug's working - it doesn't stick, because it's not actually affecting your character save data and ACTUAL appearance, but when it loads assets for a job, it's picking randomised settings instead of your stored, saved ones. So yeah - it's annoying, but could be worse!

That'd also explain why I've gotten lucky so far - I set my Xbox One up with full start-up/shutdown options (to save energy), rather than the quick-start/standby preset, and likewise, due to playing it safe with save data (ever since the woes of October 2013, and character deletion happening all the damn time), I never just 'suspend' a GTAO session - I'll play for a bit, then ALWAYS save and quit to single-player, and again, when I turn the machine off, it's always fully turned off, not left on standby.


So yeah - try clearing your cache/temporary files, and get into the habit of doing a full shutdown and start up (rather than just standby in the background) of both GTAO, and your consoles, in order to avoid a buildup of temp data that might increase the chances of the game getting 'confused'.

Failing that, might just want to avoid doing missions/heists for the time being - AFAIK, all race modes work fine, as does regular Freemode stuff.

This happens 90% when the Host of a heist sets the Outfit Selection to 'Selected Outfits' and not 'Player Saved Outfits'

 

 

Other times, this glitch happens a lot when you just join heists in general for some odd reason, even when you're not wearing those new masks.

Just happened to my character as well. I was changing between nightvision and the rebreather and he suddenly got an ugly, puffy face with darker. For a second I thought I was hallucinating due to lack of sleep, but then realized it was real. It scared the sh*t out of me (the thought of having to contact Rockstar support while having glitched millions). Luckily restarting the game returned my character to normal. I'm getting tired of these guys f*cking things up with each patch...
