So, in effort of reeling the conversation into an intelligent discussion based on the OP's observations (I don't see this as a B&Moan, but rather an observational discussion), here's my thoughts (not that anyone reads them, of course!).

Not being on NextGen, I can't attest to what I'm missing. LastGen still works great for me and is every bit as fun as day one.

 

That said, for me personally, there's no draw to go out and buy a whole new console, re-buy a game I already own, and reconfigure my entire entertainment setup just to accommodate for GTAV.

Based on OP's observations, I have even less reason to "upgrade," as none of those enhancements matter to me.

And his question is simple: "Why couldn't those things have been implemented into LastGen GTAV?"

I think it's a fair and valid question. The answer, sadly, is that they didn't have to. Knowing that people would buy the NextGen anyway, why bother giving frosting to the old cake when everyone's digging into the new cake?

Anyhow, my favorite response to this entire thread is the "TL;DR." If you consider the OP's post to be truly too long to read, then perhaps don't bother join an online forum where you kinda have to read stuff. Tumblr and 4Chan have pictures you can look at. Sounds like your speed.

Ok since you like to dumb things down to oblivion I'll cut to the chase. beyond this point if you don't understand then apparently someone typed this complaint for you.... now here we go... try to think REAL hard about this... R U RED E?

 

Last gen ram = 500 + megs.

Current gen ram = 5= gigs.

It's nearly an engineering wet dream they did GTAV as well as they did LAST generation you nit whit! There was over 5k worth of additional animations and textures needing updated or created from scratch JUST for FPV! While the others is fluff the FPV was definitely not some flaky attempt at it.

 

Nothing gimmicky about it. FPV was very well done. Adjust your controls and you might enjoy it. Plays like any OTHER FPS and that ms a remarkable feat consider how long Call of Duty has been around and it STILL uses the same old engine with a coat or three of paint.

FPV works fine EXCEPT for cars. The field of view is pretty tight and needs more view ability(?)

Quick toss button is d-pad left (or right; i dont remember) in first person only. It throws what throwable is active in your wheel (except the jerry can)

Prior to Current Gen launch, it seemed like R* priority has been polishing up the additions for launch. I say this because one of the recent updates provided, Last Gen was given a couple of new features that were exclusive to Current Gen (e.g.- Ability to walk w/a sniper). So, maybe, now that the launch and Heist have been released they could work backwards and provide last gen players the things that the console is able to handle. Hold your horses.

 

Also, I don't think you're qualified to determine what's easy or not to implement in the game. Have the ability to clean out someone's computer isn't developer status. LOL, just messing with you. Even if you had some sort of developing experience...you still wouldn't be able to truly determine what is or isn't possible, what the true limits are of last gen, etc.

I have to disagree with this. It feels as if rotation has been quantised to something like 12 directions (0°, 30°, 60°, 90° etc.). I find it jerky and awkward in first person and would never, ever consider using it in a fight unless I knew for a fact that the other player(s) were are also using it.

 

It looks fantastic, but it's horrible to use.

It's not as if these things are hard to implement if these things were already thought out. Why don't we have these things and more?

 

Not to complain, but these things could easily be implemented in the Last Gen versions of GTA V

Prior to Current Gen launch, it seemed like R* priority has been polishing up the additions for launch. I say this because one of the recent updates provided, Last Gen was given a couple of new features that were exclusive to Current Gen (e.g.- Ability to walk w/a sniper). So, maybe, now that the launch and Heist have been released they could work backwards and provide last gen players the things that the console is able to handle. Hold your horses.

 

Also, I don't think you're qualified to determine what's easy or not to implement in the game. Have the ability to clean out someone's computer isn't developer status. LOL, just messing with you. Even if you had some sort of developing experience...you still wouldn't be able to truly determine what is or isn't possible, what the true limits are of last gen, etc.

I'd say it's worth picking up again but not for the gimmicky stuff you mentioned, just the 1080p and high resolution, fps etc. If you're already buying a new system. No f'n way I'd pick up a PS4 just for GTA

I wouldn't say the additions are gimmicky, just minor, which is what you'd expect from a remastered version, it's not an entirely new game. As to why they couldn't put these things in the last gen? The game was already maxed out on 7 year old hardware (at thime of release) The more major features like increased player count and first person animations could have slowed the game down even more.

 

If you don't want the primary features of next gen, that being better graphics and more players then don't buy it, this argument was resolved months ago.

You should keep a copy of that somewhere so you can just copy and paste it next time someone makes this same thread, again.

Dude. I totally agree with you. I'm just saying I personally think it could be possible to work backwards with alternate lesser versions of such features. They're not done updating anytime soon. I know that so here's hoping.

It may all seem like minor stuff, yea... But still, I'm playing on Ps4 and occasionally go back to Ps3 because my girlfriend plays GTA on last gen only.

 

If you go from Ps3 to Ps4 you won't notice much of a difference at all. But when you go backwards, it's all the little things that make you realise what you are missing. It May Sound odd, but after going back to Ps3 I seriously needed some time to understand that the Sniper rifle works differently. While you can walk with the stick on Ps4 while zoomen, you just zoom in and out on Ps3.

 

And yea, some things could possibly ve implemented in all versions, but let's face it. R*is just another company aiming to make profit and I'm not even mad I bought the gam twice, it's amazing despite it's flaws

It's only a port. Expecting anymore than what you got was foolish.

 

For me, imo, it was a bullsh*t, sh*tty tactic to lure in the few who feel it's better for them to drop a sh*t ton of cash on virtual nothing than to use that same money and do something productive/helpful with it.

Saint's Row: single player offline. GTA:O : online multiplayer. Have you ever coded? Making everyone have unique features takes alot of processing power and the way that Rockstar has their servers set up, it would be impossible to have everyone look unique.
