woggleman
I am dating a woman 10 years younger than me meaning I am in my 30s and she is in her 20s. The other day she came by to give me something and I introduced her to my coworkers and one in particular wants to get on my case about why I can't date a woman my own age. She also says I need to grow up and stop being a Peter Pan. This from somebody who wouldn't know a healthy relationship if it fell on her lap and is in a ton of debt. Why is she concerned with my business? SmokesWithCigs

Humble brag or not, it's pretty stupid when people make comments on relationships like this. A 12yo dating 17 year old, that's very odd because the maturity difference is huge. A 20 year old dating someone in their thirties? No worries. Maturity differences aren't going to be huge. I have no problems hanging out with older people. Jolly Swagman
Do you also have a problem with this advertisement? I should have said like an English teacher and not a real person. It just happened that all my English teachers were old ladies. You have to understand I live in Australia where we all compete to speak as lazily and improperly as possible. Edit: Also Australians who have never been to Britain but put on a fake English accent also use whom Edited March 27, 2015 by Jolly Swagman MarshalMoo

El Dildo
when I was 18 I had sex with a 14 year old. I think they called it "high school." as long as you're not a straight up pedophile, age differences don't mean anything.

Fonz
I'm 17 (will be 18 in 3 months) and was going to have sex with a 15-year-old chick the other day. I didn't go through with it, though. She was a bit crazy and I didn't want to risk getting caught in a sticky (eh) situation.

Personally, i think in most cases your example is no problem, especially since most 18 year old boys are on the same level of maturity as 14 year old girls. Alpha Demigod
As long as she's not under 18, you should be fine. Screw what others think. If this was the other way around the older woman would be face no scrutiny and be praised as a cougar or milf or whatever, so there's no reason you should be called a pedophile or other insult. am30
The solution is simple. You're in your 30's and you're banging a chick in her early 20's - well done Sir. 007_eleven
I would be concerned for you because your description of her not having previously had healthy relationships + being in debt = sounds like she intends to use you as a cash cow. DB has made his share of dumbass statements in the past, but I think he's onto something here. At least in the US, there's definitely a different general attitude when it comes to age differences and gender in relationships. I've always gotten the impression that an older man dating a younger woman is seen as almost 'predatory' by society at large, yet not when the situation is flipped. E: I will say that when the situation is reversed, the woman will almost always be accused of dating for money. So it does go both ways, but in different ways. As someone in their mid 20s dating someone who is 40 this year, it doesn't seem to be that much easier for a woman in the same situation. Indeed, she got stick from even her closest friends until they got to know me. Especially as we were 23 and 36 respectively at the time. It was only then they figured I was probably more mature than her ex husband who was about the same age as her. I wouldn't go as far as to say it's predatory either, not when the younger person is of the age where maturity is generally expected of you. I've got some close friends where a 35 year old woman has been in a long term relationship with a now 60 year old man. They're both wonderful people who suit each other perfectly. There's nothing predatory about it, nor was there anything predatory 10 or so years ago when they met. Tl;dr sod them, they're just narrow minded. Age is just a number and is very different from maturity. redfirebird87, Coin and epoxi
